agreed. it will last 3 years but not 5. If you want it to last 5 years, the last few years you will be running at lower resolution and low settings for graphic intensive games.
Those that last for 5 years (not guaranteed) is high end, like when I bought 8800 GTX. Now, it gets minor lag every now and then if I play Left 4 Dead 2 @ 1920x1080 high settings (Those times use 1280x1024). Note: resolution is higher than it was intended for. Those times not many use Full HD. @ 1280x1024 can play GTA4 with very minor lag every now and then(around 2 sec lag every 10-30 mins after playing for more than 1hr).

well sure. Unless newer tech come out and your mobo cannot use the gpu to its best capability. If I want I can install GTX680 with my now 5-7year old mobo(and every1 will throw rotten eggs @ me)
sum1 correct me if i'm wrong P.S my prev post was edited after your post.

QUOTE(CyntrixTech @ May 9 2012, 03:04 AM) Putting a v8 engine in a WIRA does not make it a better car than a GTI That really put a smile on my face some how. QUOTE(CyntrixTech @ May 9 2012, 03:06 AM) It's not going to be an issue. PCIE 3.0 is the newest technology yet GPU has not even used up till PCIE 2.0's bandwidth. The "real thing" that will make even a GTX680 obsolete today is Direct X 12 Not sure about their bandwidth, not a very technical person. Comparing against what happened to my 8800GTX, Direct X 12 will make it obsolete in terms of visual. Power(graphic rendering) wise should last till Direct X 13/14.

QUOTE(huahuarider @ May 9 2012, 03:09 AM) waaaaa i'm noob at this.yeah i think so, but people said if oc things will get hotter or sometimes unstable. my casing cant handle it maybe what do you think? Personally I avoid OC-ing. But if you have limited budget and you're desperate to get better performance, that's the only way. Heat, stability and risk depends on how much you OC it. Many things you can do to minimize risk/heat (even on limited budget) adding more fan to the chassis(case) including use those taking AC power(direct from power mains, they are faster and noisier) improve air flow(movement) for the room. Example: I have a fan blowing air into my room from outside, and another blowing towards my bathroom(exit through the window there) but this is not good enough, just that this is max I can do @ a rented apartment(open window = free insect for breakfast). I'm sure my PC can still play BF3 if I'm willing to reduce resolution and quality. This post has been edited by scaler: May 9 2012, 03:18 AM
