Quite few users has reported successful flashing from other ICS rom besides CM9 - if one is worried about the "unsafe kernel" in other ICS rom, than go back and start from GB base
I still think until now this claim of "unsafe kernel" is way over exaggerated

I'd suggest you flash the CF kernel later - only after you have successfully flash the rom first

hey uncle benny,i was told that updating to this Official ICS Stock Rom will wipe all my photos,videos and messages away.Any way to back it up?

so if um from ics criskelo rom (presuming unsafe) i just use CMW and flash to stock GB first?

I don't think you can use CMW to flash stock GB too.

yalor, without ROOT - you can't do anything. ROOT is the root to all evil on Note.

Anyone who has flashed to german ics, can tell me is Kies Air already come pre-installed already? Same goes to the Premium Suite.
