Hmm don't think my circuit draw to much current . I just wanna test that 7805 regulator...so I connected it  to a 7 segement display.

Anyway have anyone tried to purchase any stuff online through the link which listed the online suppliers on the 1st post ?If have, how was the service
(delivery time and price)

Try Farnell and RS. They are quite reliable.

Did you connect all the wires properly.. 7 segment display will roughly use only about 0.02 till 0.1 amp provided you connected correctly. Depends on the circuit also. If bigger circuit will use more amp. But usually very little amp only. You can use DC chopper circuits / analog power supply. Analog power supply is mostly using 7805,7809,7812 and 7824. For my final year thesis, I designed DC chopper circuits for use in motor / etc. Quite fun.. Very easy provided you have good books. Buy India books. They provide you with all the revelent calculations so that you don't have to crack your head during the calculation parts.
