I drafted a list of things I should ask during interview. Not sure if is helpful but I'll share it here anyways. tongue.gif I asked all these questions during most of my interviews and most of em gave me the answers.

Dress code - It's pain in the ass for having to wear full formal EVERYDAY. Some company does allow their staff to wear smart casual, like mine. tongue.gif
Benefits - Dental, Medical, Parking and such. Don't look down on these small little tiny detail. It could cost you when you combine all the expenses here.
Annual Leave - Keep your AL on track so that you'll know how many days you get to have per year.
EPF and Socso - Get a clearer picture of how many percentage your company is contributing, from there you can calculate your EPF accurately.
Allowance - This mostly applicable to those sales, event, marketing positions. If is admin job I doubt you need to ask about allowance. Ask about mileage count, meal allowance.
Probation period - Some company practice not to give you any benefits throughout the probation, but some does. Get it clear before making up your mind.
Increment method - Usually there will be increment after your probation and every year after you are confirmed as permanent.
Job Description - This is very important as there are some company gave you this JD but you are doing something else or extra other than your JD. I once work as event executive, I had to fix the office pipe. Imagine that. shakehead.gif

Will add on more when I reach home. The list is not with me atm. smile.gif

honestly speaking, processing your package can meant by reviewing your acceptance or processing you into the company. As usual, when you get out of the interview room, you yourself should be able to tell whether you got the job or not. Trust your guts, it is correct all the time. Looking at the interviewer face is able to tell you whether u get it or not.
*
Not exactly. I been into this situation before and ended up I didn't get the job. sad.gif

if company said they want to do background check first, is it a good signal?
what can make candidate fail the background check?
*
Previous employer comment. That's the reason why many people want to part away from their previous company in good terms.

Two scenario. Is either the HR manager have the say to hire you or not, or that's the SOP. Just be yourself. don't oversell or overdo it.

Hi do you happen to know do hr do background check on just your last company you worked at or the will also go all the way to your very first company? Bcs I took 2 years off, can I just add those 2 years into for 1st job or should I just tell them I took 2 years off from working???
*
If you were laid off and resting for 2 years, is better for you to come clean and tell them why you were laid off. Try not to hide anything from them because that could haunt you back if you got busted.

Hello guys, I have questions again  sweat.gif

How should I answer the interviewer if he ask me whether I'm applying for job at other company?

Of course I do try my luck at other companies but will it imply that I'm not serious enough to join his company if I give him my honest answer?
*
Say yes. Politely let them know only another 1-2 job applications that you applied but nothing is concrete yet. Even if there's some concrete news, say no.

Seriously if you say no I think it could be worse. Who else in the world would apply one job and wait for it to come? Please laa, this interviewer also stupid wan. Ask this kind of obvious questions.

should i send apology email?
*
It's not really a big deal la. If the company reject hire you cause you forgot to insert the subject, you should be glad. Usually this kind of company micromanage people, down to every single detail. And don't bother to send them any email mentioning that.

A follow up email on application status during working day would more than sufficient.

Just wondering, which industry you planning to venture into, and what position you are taking up?

You should send them a follow up email as I believe this happens last week.

I need advice from you guys.

I'm currently unemployed for 4 months and I have a job interview coming up next Monday.

Should I be honest and tell my interviewer that I am unemployed or should I just lie and tell them that I am still employed ?

What happen if they decided to call my previous company to do a background check on me and they found out that I have long gone from the company ?
*
I would say be honest. Not to say that unemployed is good but depends on how you fabricate it. You can say during the period of unemployment, you study online to boost yourself in career wise. Like taking an online language course or something. When you are attending an interview, you are selling yourself to the company. How you sell yourself matters. Make sure you are well prepared before the interview.

Need all sifus guidance...
Let say I am staying in Kelantan after graduated... It is far too away from most of the companies at penang (11hours driving distance) , KL (9hours driving distance), selangor and johor (13hours driving distance)...
Feel so tired when I know I have to drive along the damn long distance just for an interview with no granted offer....
Anyone of you could share your experience on how to arrange (time, distance, cost), how to travel, where to stay and what to prepare... Could any hints share?
*
Usually what I do is that I would apply the jobs that I am interested and would have the likelihood to score an interview. Then from there I would just arrange it on the same day at the same location (Ie whole day in selangor/penang for interview). For your case, I'd suggest you get recruiter to find jobs for you. At least it would ease the process and you might have higher chance of scoring an interview, then you can arrange it according to your time.

I see... but most of the time the company would contact me so soon... some take a few days, some a week and some even longer... quite hard to arrange together in a short week.... as need a lot of time for preparation also... travel, petrol, accommodation all plus together damn expensive.... btw, where you stay while attending long-distance interview?
How you find the recruiter?
*
I probably cannot relate to you cause I am from Selangor. So majority of the places I apply for jobs is either KL or Selangor. I have the luxury that you do not have that's why extra effort needed for you to put in in order to slot all the interviews at one go. May I suggest you try this method; whenever there is an interview given to you, try to schedule it 2 weeks from the date you were approach. Then maybe from that two week period you might be able to score another interview from another company, so that you still have time to allocate it together rather than travelling to Selangor or Penang twice on that week.

As for recruiter, I usually engage them through Linkedin. Yes there are many ways for us to engage them but I think the best way is still Linkedin.

May I ask why didn't you want to find a job nearby your hometown? hmm.gif I'd suggest you actually look for a job around your area first before start thinking about moving to another state. At least you have some income to support you in terms of interview on the other states for accommodations, petrol, etc like you mentioned.

How do you all answer what is your strength and weakness question?
*
I usually will arrive at least 30 - 45 minutes early for the interview. Then when the interviewer asked my weakness, I'd say my punctuality but I am working on it. Pahadal I already arrived early, my weakness doesn't seem like weakness afterall. laugh.gif

hey guys, i was wondering if per say you've been jobless for some time and after applying left and right you secured a job at company A.

After 1 to 2 weeks at your new job at Company A, an IV call up came, what should you do?

-Attend the IV?
-Reject and be happy what you got/doing at Company A

Bear in mind what you get from company A is ok BUT it does come along with something that you wish could be different. (could be the distance of the work place/salary/benefits etc)
*
Two very good and specific answer. Need not much of explanation.
QUOTE(l4nc3k @ Feb 21 2019, 04:43 PM)
For me no harm to just attend the IV for the potential chance of getting better job.

If i am you, i will go attend the IV. Kemungkinan akan dapat kerja yang lagi bagus lagipun TS baru kerja 1-2 minggu kat current company.

Will it be ok if i refuse the job if i signed the offer letter?
Thanks
*
Is the salary different by alot? Is the job scope almost identical? Is the work culture good enough? Many things gotta factor in before you make a decision. I have friends who went to the job first day and tender resignation, she serve 1 month notice as per contract then she join another company after that.

I encounter a problem.

Before the interview, I have to fill in the job application form. In the job application form, there is a question: "Can we contact your present employer?"

So, I should answer yes or no?

Yes to show that I am confidence and nothing to hide. Also, if I unable to get the offer and the interviewer calls to my present employer, this leaves a bad impression to my present employer and a very awkward situation. My present company might think that since I want to resign, why should them paid training fee for me in the future?
Also, what if my present employer says something bad about me when the interviewer calls them?

No and the interviewer might think I have something to hide.

So, yes or no?
*
Answer no is fine as employer just want to know if they can check with them prior resignation. Always provide reference from the current company or ex company higher management personnel if you are in good relationships with them. For myself, I had my current employer to contact my previous senior manager that I am close with, but not my direct superior. No issues on that.

Some company very particular on Bazi and stuff. You can choose to give or not depending on how desperate you want the job. Sometimes you give already also you don't get the job. laugh.gif

Woww thats soo terrible!!

Did they tell you any reason beside the restructuring one?
That is just so inhuman of them.. how are you now? Did you finally get a job?
*
There's nothing inhuman about it. They restructuring their organization, you cannot do anything. Same goes to them when they already offer what you are asking and you reject at the end of the day. No difference TBH.
