If it could not be attained, yu can come up with, contingency plans, diversification of planning, and if yu are in the managerial position, this would be a testing ground for the interviewer to test your capability to act in such situation.

we ask that crap all the time, its just part of our script/procedure.

u are missing the point, u are telling them "i wish to continue to be able to be of value to u in 5 yrs time"

if they ask u back "what if u cannot achieve, we terminate u?"
then u should answer them in a way u see fit, but not arrogant or rude.

"i am confident that i can achieve them. in the event of no achievement, i shall consult the management on how to remedy the situation"

joey is rite. if cannot achieve, do contingency. not resign/terminate. pariah question from interviewer during interview goes to show wat type of company they are, havent hire u alredi wanna fire u.
