Let's say a company request us to bring our previous pay slips (3 months)
Shall we give them the original or just a photocopy version? |

It's ok not to wear suit.. slacks with shirt should be enough...Unless you r going interview for a high post... else suit could be overdressed... QUOTE(ed0gawa @ Jan 6 2008, 02:56 PM) Let's say a company request us to bring our previous pay slips (3 months) I think photocopy would be enough.. but it's better to bring along the originals as some interviewers are a bit more fussy they might asked for the original copies... better prepare..Shall we give them the original or just a photocopy version? |

I went to an interview today..she asked a lot of technical question..how in the world can I remember all subjects I learned in university..I think CGPA is enough to tell how good our technical skills are..then they should ask about how we work with group of people..how we handle stress..all that sorts of question..I will concern more on that if I am a hiring manager..

CGPA is just the key to help you to get the interview. Technical questions is common if you apply IT/Engineering since your work require it (to see how logical thinking you are, some even have IQ testing which not relevant to your job). All you need is just do some homework. But other job fields not sure. |

Sometimes the tricks are, they try to ask you many non-related questions to try your response to evaluate your thinking/speaking skills.Look in to their eyes and speak confidently. Do not stare back at them |

Great thread although I must confess that I don't have the time to read through all 14 pages of it. I conduct interviews for my company and I'd like to share a couple of things from my point of view that I hope might be helpful to those preparing to attend interviews. Do bear in mind this is my personal way view of it and my company is nto a large one so we're less particular than the multinationals. The starter of this thread posted an excellent piece and so these are just a couple of things that I'll add.
1. Most interviewers do realise that candidates are nervous and we do cut you some slack for that so don't worry too much. We would very much prefer you to be your natural self rather than give us standard answers that is "lifted off" from job seeking sites. Interviewers can tell an honest answer from a "prepared" answer. 2. We also realise that not everyone is necessarily conversant in a particular language. What is important is that you actually try your best to. For example, I purposely conduct my interviews in English and I've encountered many cases where the candidate responds to my questions in their preferred language. You'll be amazed at how frequently that happens. We don't fault you for your lack of proficiency in a language but the one who shows an initiative and attitude that is willing to at least try definitely earns points. I had a young Malay candidate who struggled through her interview in English but I took her in. Within 3 months, she was speaking English confidently. Attitude counts for a lot. 3. Do NOT name your parents as your referees! This seems a rather silly tip and I do feel silly posting it but again, I have encountered it way too many times. It really boggled my mind, to be honest. 4. Dress smartly. It does count. You need not necessarily wear a suit (it depends on the position applied for, really) but you do need to be decent, neat and groomed. That's about it for now. |

hi guys need ur favor.
i'm actually resigned on nov'07 after working 7 mths plus in a contact centre. then i go for a new job oso in a call centre on nov'07 but i resigned on dec'07. i understand definitely the interviewers will ask y i left previous 2 company in such a short period. actually for the 1st company reason is better offer by 2nd company. then the 2nd company reason is they dun provide training n simply ask us to answer call, turn over is high, 90% is new there. v hv to ask around. i told them since i'm representing tat company so it would b gv bad image to the customer who call in since v hv to hold them everytime when answer call. i did attended 2 interviews b4 n i got offered by 1 n rejected by 1. i rejected the offer by 1st company due to need to work shifts n low pay. the 1 rejected me is due to i dun really like the telesales post. both of the interviewer did ask me y i left both company in short period. n both of them i gv same answer as per above. guys, any recommendation to answer the question in such a situation? |

That's why you need to do your homework before you go for interview. Atleast you need to know the summary of the subject. CGPA seriously dont prove anything for my point of view, you can be cheating in your U and copycat to achieve high mark, i had seen all of them. Or the interviewer dont believe your Uni standard. Why would they want to ask you how to work with ppl, how you deal with stress and stufts like that? those are not they concern at all. They just want to know you know your stuffs or not, or atleast the very basic knowledge. If you are the hiring manager, you will have a hard time to hire ppl as most of them will be doing the same thing. Another thing is that CGPA does not show how good your technical skills are. Sorry to say that, because i had seen a SPM school leaver performed better than a degree holder, not to say he know in and out of the stuffs, but he sure can remember every single thing and answer it in a good way. Of course, he is an experieced person. This post has been edited by iDk: Feb 15 2008, 12:33 AM |
