actually, d3 is more of Online ARPG, rather than categorize it as MMO type.

think of Nox (great Westwood Studios game... *sigh*); it has similar features (trash talk channel, game channel etc) but support more players than d3 yet it still being called ARPG.

the genre doesn't degrade, it is crosse-mixed with 'hack and slash' genre

western's definition of RPGs are clearly different from how easterners understand; like Lands of Lore (dang how come i keep reminiscing Westwoord Studios) and Final Fantasy; both are RPG but one played real time (Action) and latter is turn based.

i think there's a certain discrepancy when comes to understanding the term 'RPG' (definately not Rocket Propelled Grenade)

i mean, you can still play RPG if you want to; since there are few extra reference sources provided by blizz (for diablo franchise), i think you can use it to reference and learn the environment background. you can also try playing using ventrilo or mumble: few people role-playing barbarian (different tribes, of course) would be epic: war cries over war cries can be heard thru the whole party run, just make sure you don't disturb neighbors and remember to ell your parents your are actually role-playing the character.

then of course there's a huge difference when doing role play for ARPG, MMORPG and normal table-top rpg. you can still use weapons of your choice for the latter one, but as for the 1st 2 option you might be restricted/ getting a bit awkward when you discovered the profile you set is having a bad effect with you game play (just like my pally whom, had a blessed 'shovel'... or setting a 'melee hunter' d3).

maybe we might get along one day and start a D&D game? i always wanted to create a evil-chaotic character to tag along with the adventure

it's not wow, it won't suxx the life out of you.

being as overly cautious and stupidly skeptical as possible on those posted downloaders, i'm not doing the early download thingamajig but to wait for my box to arrive. i'm not saying that those downloaders aren't legit ones but better to be safe than sorry.

probably have to wait till saturday nite to install (and patch?) the game, if i got it that day
