if we purchase what we actually get?
and which is the cheapest starter package?

since the game can be downloaded so what we purchase is just a serial number right?

if just a serial number curious can we just buy from official website online?

QUOTE
In celebration of a successful beta test, all players who were invited to participate in the Diablo III closed beta will receive the commemorative Feat of Strength, "One of the Chosen." For eligible players, this feat will appear automatically in the Feat of Strength list after logging in for the first time as well as unlock a unique sigil that can be used on character banners.

In order to be eligible for "One of the Chosen," you must have had a Diablo III closed beta license attached to your Battle.net account (it isn't necessary to have downloaded or logged into the beta itself). Please note that players who participated only in the Open Beta Weekend, but were not invited to the closed beta, will not receive this Feat of Strength.

Thank you once again to all of our beta participants. We look forward to seeing you in Sanctuary!

For those that still dont really know what HardCore is..

http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/comments/...-101-the-basics

QUOTE
What is it?
Hardcore is the same game as normal. Same monsters, same bosses, same loot. The only difference is that when you die, it’s over. Instead of finding your character resurrected a few feet from your death you will be prompted back to the character screen. You will see a ghostly visage of your character and if over level 10 you can archive it into the halls of the dead.

Why should I play Hardcore? It seems like I’d just be wasting my time if I died.
For myself and countless others it’s about the journey. You will die playing Hardcore, but in the deaths you learn and get better. It can be frustrating, but that frustration leads way to a much greater feeling of success then simply hurling your corpse at a boss until he gives you loot. In looking back at Diablo 2 I don’t recall finding the items I had been looking for, or defeating Diablo for the first time, but each death ( both my fault and out of my control) stand out and remain distinct and clear. Diablo 3 will fade, like all games, but those memories and the feeling of what you did will stay with you for much longer.

What do I lose when I die?
Everything on your character! However anything in your stash(including your gold), and your Artisan’s progress, will remain in place for your future characters( assuming your didn’t rage quit). This is a nice relief from D2. Back then you lost everything on your character and in your stash, and the only hope you had was if someone could loot your corpse.

What about Lag?
There will be lag, I won’t lie on that. However since I’ve played Hardcore on a 56k modem I feel like anything now seems trivial. The best advice is if it’s feeling risky don’t do it. If you don’t trust your connection then maybe Hardcore isn’t for you.

wait, so actually starter edition = guest pass?

i was thinking starter edition is another liter version of guest pass sweat.gif

well better borrow a pass from friend before getting my copy smile.gif
*
No not really. Starter Edition are demo with limitation as I stated earlier.

Guess pass are a little different. From previous games,

SC2 Guess pass:
Pass holders are given 2 days free trial of the FULL game. This is during launch day. I have no idea how the guest pass works now since they announced the Starter Edition.

WoW Classic Guess pass:
Cannot level pass 20.
Cannot chat with other user.
Cannot party with other user
Cannot join Guild
Cannot sell in AH
30 hours Game time only. Expire after 7 days.

But I think this has changed.

What's the original price for a CE? Since there's some side in-game contents. If only there would produce more, but impossible as the name explains limited collector edition.

USD 99

The chinese version is cater for TW pple only as they do not need other language except chinese, that's why is selling cheaper.
Meaning the whole client only contain chinese, it cannot be upgrade to multi-language.
*
Ya you can download those client there... if you want to play in Chinese just dl the TW client... if you want to play in German dl the German client...

why purchase separate client?

You can even play in the Asia region with the US English client... so why buy multi language client?

Huh??? this makes no sense at all..

The CD key is not bound to the client...It is bound to your account. You can have a TW CD key and play using German/English/Korean...etc client.

Nope this is not the case for TW cd key

Question 3: Activating chinese version can only play with the chinese client.
*
Meh.. i dont read chinese haha, so i am pretty sure you can play with other language clients... just like WoW:TW can be played using US clients. Just a little tweak with the server config file to point to WoW:TW servers.

Another thing: retail copies are region free, or have a home region preset?
*
retail copies as in the boxes?? if so yeah they are region free. You select region by creating a b.net account and keying in the CD key that comes with the box. So based on your country of residence that you choose for your b.net account, you will lock to certain regions.

SEA countries will default to US.

QUOTE(McSundae @ May 12 2012, 04:47 AM)
can someone tell me why and when it is needed to be port forwading?
*
QUOTE(Y.K. @ May 12 2012, 07:35 AM)
wish to know this too, what actually does port forward do us good? smile.gif
*
Technical Answer
Port forwarding or port mapping is a technique of translating the address and/or port number of a packet to a new destination possibly accepting such packet(s) in a packet filter (firewall) forwarding the packet according to the routing table. The destination may be a predetermined network port (assuming protocols like TCP and UDP, though the process is not limited to these) on a host within a NAT-masqueraded, typically private network, based on the port number on which it was received at the gateway from the originating host.
The technique is used to permit communications by external hosts with services provided within a private local area network.

Short Answer
If you don't forward the port. Then cannot play smoothly, because some communications packets are blocked by your router or firewall. Windows automatically opens those ports in the firewall when you first run the game, assuming you didn't click block. However on the router side, you need to forward it manually if your router does not support UPnP. But most router do support UPnP. However it is still better to manual port forward as sometimes the UPnP don't really work that well.

No and yes. There was a short time in the beta when people can access area outside the limited zone. But we are not sure if this is after SK or before

in short, if i do port forwarding i can get to lower my latency? yes no?

thanks for answering though smile.gif
*
No. But will have more stable connection.

There was a user earlier which didn't forward port and complaint that D3 was lagging for him. I am not sure what he exp is lag or communication error and DC. Most likely his router dont support UPnP so need to manually forward port. After he forwarded the ports can play as normal.

QUOTE(KenAragorn @ May 12 2012, 09:14 AM)
hmm, as for my case, when playing beta, sometimes I do experience some lag when the parties using some skills such as blink, roll, and few other (cant remember the name now). But overall still ok as most of the time I notice the orb is green with ping average around 2xxms - 300ms.Only sometime I notice it change to slightly green-yellow sort of color with latency around 700ms.
*
Sounds like graphic lag instead of connection lag.

Graphic lag : Your screen Jitter alot.
Connection Lag: You press key animation/skill effect start late, or you move but get pull back to your previous location (rubber-band effect)

Do u guys think we would need VPN to play smoothly? since we are connecting to US like wow
*
No, no need.

The way how D3 Client / Server works is alot different from what other games are doing. Hence why you will not experience any lag. Unless of cause its super lag like 2~3k ms.
