It's a short form of english word "Recce" aka "Reconnaissance" la.
I dun see what's wrong by making it into BM since BM used a lot of english word by changing its spelling just like Bahasa Indonesia

usha = staring / checking without need to involve much movement (i.e: usha awek / tgk awek)

riki = checking with need to involve movement (i.e: riki harga kat lowyat / check harga kat lowyat)
