Got an invite today, nearly forgot about it since it's been ages when I signed up for the beta.

After playing for around roughly an hour or so, already finished the prison sequence and the mini quest with the tall blonde chick and the old man.(I suppose it took longer because I was exploring most of the time).
I don't know if it's just me, but the whole experience was underwhelming. I understand they had to tone it down to incorporate the MMO elements of it, but after booting Skyrim again, I just felt that everything was cheapened in TESO. Before you guys get on my case, I've played SWTOR and WOW before, and I understand how the whole MMORPG deal works but I just didn't feel the spirit of TES in this game. I just thought the combat system was downright clunky. Played as an archer(Breton) at first and it was no near as satisfying as it was in Skyrim or even Oblivion. And seeing other people run around like headless chickens(like every other MMO It could still be improved before release, but right now I can't justify purchasing it and subscribing(unless it goes to F2P of course). I do hope they manage to improve the combat system, texture quality and fix the clipping bugs, I'd hate to miss out on the storylines in this game as it follows the whole Elder Scrolls lore. QUOTE(Convael @ Feb 8 2014, 06:55 PM) Anyone here is new to participating in a closed beta ? I don't think there's any harm in posting impressions as long as things regarding to the game's storyline or lore are kept vague(hence my description of tall blonde chick and old man).Last time I checked ( which is 3 hours ago ) ,the NDA for ESO has only been lifted for a couple of journalist and exclusive game sites editors . And I assume none of you ( particularly the one that posted screenshot and the impression ) are any of the journalist listed on the link If you want to look at the game impression , check out http://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline...ons_megathread/ Other than that, what some of you did here are Childish and Unacceptable ! ( You may not take it seriously , but there were 2 kids from North Carolina who have been prosecuted by Blizzard before for showing off gameplay videos of Diablo 3 's Alpha ) Be professional , remove your screenshot and impression right now . If Bethesda saw these it is possible that they may exclude Malaysian Gamers from participating in any future close beta of their upcoming games . You don't want to make the whole country suffer just because of one person's childish behavior . No need to be so uptight, plenty of other sites and forums get away with a lot more. Just a small and friendly warning would've sufficed. |

QUOTE(Rei7 @ Feb 9 2014, 10:58 AM) Loading has been greatly improved.. I think this beta session is definitely geared more towards seeing how well their servers would cope with the traffic. After all they did mention that they wanted to break the record for concurrent player participation.I think they have put their super server already in preparation for the testing. |

QUOTE(Convael @ Feb 10 2014, 01:05 AM) I appreciate that people that were involved in the incident were quick to respond . Well I still don't see the point when the impressions that either I or anyone else is giving only paraphrases words or footage that is showned by the likes of angryjoe and other so-called VG press that were allowed to display footage, screenshots and/or impressions. I could just post the video review(by angryjoe) and just point out via the youtube video timescale and give my thoughts(indirectly based on my experiences after the beta). I don't think there's any harm in that.I am just here to warn people of the consequences that may follow after. Just because there are other people doing it , doesn't mean we should be following them. And how can you be sure that these people actually get away ? You never know . On big site like mmorpg.com , any topics about the gameply were moderated 10 minutes after it was posted. We have fairly lenient policy regarding NDA in lowyat forum , but this has nothing to do with Lowyat . It is your responsibility to keep up to what you agreed upon signing up. Like I have strengthen in my previous post , if Besthesda ever find out about cases like this , they wouldn't do anything to you individually since they wouldn't have the time to. Instead they will just exclude the whole country into their list of exception for their next game / beta entry , notice how the notorious Filipino gamers were always excluded in some of the AAA game beta ? This is one of the reason. You signed for an NDA agreement , and it isn't just about the lore/story . The gameplay themselves are also part of the aspect . Primarily they don't want people to get the wrong idea before the game actually releases . And of course , as a gamer I personally disagree with Bethesda 's decision to keep the NDA active until today because it prevented the mass public to provide more opinions on the game. No criticism , hardly any improvement. |
