Anyone working in Hong Kong and brought their spouse along? My defacto partner is aussie (so technically we are not married and holding different passport). Have been offered various roles in HK/overseas and now have big lubang so planning to think through this opportunity.

Issue is, the visa will be under my name. We are not married, just defacto so I doubt he can come with me? I'm based in Australia now, so they consider defacto partners as defacto spouse which is how i moved here in the first place.

Can work out a quick estimate using Uncle Google.

Room to rent=HKD7K (easyroommate - between 5-10K)
Food = (HKD50 per meal x3)x30=HKD4500
Tax = HKD400 (2% for incomes up to 40K)
EPF = HKD1000 (5%)
Transport = HKD600 (assume HKD10 per trip, twice a day)
Total= HKD13,600
HKD20K - HKD13,600 = HKD6,500 (entertainment, health, mobile phone plan, savings etc)

No point saying that a bottle of mineral water or its expensive compared to MY, u r earning in HKD, need to budget accordingly in HKD
