Hi All,

Quick survey on what type of paint should i use for my door. FYI, current door already painted - white and currently i try to re-paint it with dark brown. the problem is, the paint does not stick to the door?

can i just repaint without removing existing color?

tq!

You need to use gloss paint.
Preferably, remove the existing paint, then put a layer of primer + 2 layers of gloss paint.

It depends on the condition of the existing paint.
Are there blisters or flaking - due to dampness if it's a wooden door or rust if it's a steel door.
If there's nothing wrong with the original paint, all you need to do is to sandpaper the paint surface and repaint.

As tehtmc mentioned, if too hassle to remove the whole paint, atleast remove those 'loosen' area.
The theory is, if you paint on something which already weak bonded to the surface, it will peel off soon again.

Is not an easy job for starter. You need to sand to smooth, then apply fille, then apply primer, then paint. Some will resand again to smooth it and apply another round of paint. Is hard work but is possible

You need to check the for gap, after you paint your door gap will be smaller our even no gap, this make open or closing very hard. Gloss paint is very thick. That is why is better to sand off the old paint.

Gloss paint is so thick? Isn't it is measured in micron?

Actually white colour as base and paint dark colour over it is more difficult than using a light colour over it.
