my 3d printer cannot do PBT yet.
but my next investment with a newer design machine, might able to do it. (that one would cost >RM15K per machine...)

Yea, how was the Pure going? production delay like Ducky ke?  hmm.gif

Added on May 4, 2012, 8:43 am
yes, it's possible. base on the trial run from a friend who stay at UK,
the printed keycap can be use, but need to do quite some touch up work.

Don't think keycap seller would follow the "wind" to use 3d printer to produce keycaps

I have one set up at home, until i get all xyz movement, but havent actually calibrated and printed yet because right after setup, i had to go Japan for a long period. Was hoping I could print an enclosure (4 piece printing perhaps) for my future mechanical kb tongue.gif
I read that you are planning to upgrade to something >15k? What is it? 0.o

QUOTE(kaysa @ May 13 2012, 11:49 PM)
I have been uses the cherry a few months ago, and change to Topre recently.
Alot of people said its difficult to describe the touch of Topre switches,
I feel the same, but let me try to describe as best as I can.....

The switches has a very strong tactile feeling, like the membrance keyboards,
but it doesn't require to bottom out the keyo to register a key in,
and once you press the key, it has a very strong rebound, unlike membrance keyboards.
since the keypress doesn't bottom each registering key in, the sound of it are completely different
from any cherry switches, even you bottom out the key, the rubber dorm are not touching the PCB board,
or the steel board that mount the switches, thus not making loud noise when you do so.
but instead it make sound once you release the key,
I think that is due to the structure of the switches, there is a Plunger to connect the keycaps,
the plunger will hit the top of the housing of the switches, made a sound when you release the key.
In my opinion the overall built quality, the design and the quality control are better,
the keystrokes are more solid and firm when typing on them compare to the keyboard with cherry Mx switches.

the keycaps are PBT with sub-dye legend, the key surface are sleek and without grooves or dent feeling,
It's claim to be non fading.
Unlike the another Black PBT caps with purple print that I uses are now starting to fades,
not because of the dirt or kotor finger, even after I wash it, the charecters are not coming clear again.

anyway that's what I felt about the HHKB for these few weeks of usage,
hope these help.

Added on May 13, 2012, 11:55 pm

I saw you have some products from CM, so I actually presume that you will get CM at the end,
But the problem is that they did not gain their reputation for making keyboards,
like Corssair, its good at making RAM, but their keyboard are least of a choice for a true keyboard user.

But, hopefully that's like Kai said it's kotor fingers.
and your faith in CM restored.
*
I find that the switches on the HHKB vs the Topre on the Realforce quite different. Don't know how to put it in words, but the HHKB feels better than the Topre.

Also, I tested (AGAIN) the Archiss AS-KBT87LR (aka Leopold FC200R) red switch, and don't know why i never felt this before but it definitely feels mushier compared to the Filco MJ2 red / CM Storm Rapid red. So yeah, i think i'll just screw it and wait for the Filco red to come locally =.=. I can't stand the CM Storm either cause it looks terrible. Rubberized body is just so.... cheap =.=

Since its so quiet, let me make some noise a lil tongue.gif.

Im gonna head back to Akihabara this weekend again and give the Poker KBC another try. Last week, i found out that contrary to what I first thought, the Archiss reds and the Filco reds have both noticeable different key press feelings. The Filcos (and CM Storm Red) have better feel than the Archiss/Leopold. Thus I gave up on the Archiss. I'm gonna give the Poker KBC a try, and if it feels good, I might just go for it. My only grip at the moment is the flexing of the KB when pressed in the middle, but I guess it can be solved easily with some minor mods.

Man, 2 years since i first gotten the interest, many tries on many boards later, and I've still yet to get a mechanical board sad.gif

Anyway guys, I notice my 9008s couldn't press more than 6 keys in one go. If more than 6 keys it can't be registered? Is this system or hardware related? I haven't reboot after plugging my keyboard tho'
*
IINM, if its over USB, its only 6 keys max. If you plugged in via P/S2, it should be able to get NKRO.

got any issue with the arrow keys? hmm.gif
*
What issue?

Well besides documented well known issues, the only issue i have is that the arrow keys cluster (the one you activate with Space + Fn, has a very stiff UP because its using the Shift R key, a key that is stabilized with the Cherry stabilizers. Thus the feeling you get when u press UP as compared to the other directions feels funny.

The other well documented issues are just that the bottom arrow clusters cannot be access with pressing Fn, only when you enable via Space + Fn, and another issue is that when you enable Esc lock (Fn + Q), you cannot access the tilde (~), key via Fn. You have to disable the Esc lock first.

All pretty minor issues to me, so i can live with it smile.gif.

Dear ppl,

Which is better?
1) Leopold?
2) Filco?
3) Ducky Channel?

Wanted to get one but cant decide which one is better? With or without backlight is not an issue with me..
*
Based on reputation, as epiguru mentioned:
1) Filco
2) Leopold
3) Ducky

IF you need backlighting:
1) Ducky

If you prefer tenkeyless:
1) Filco

If you plan to mod to many different keycaps:
1) Filco/Ducky
2) Leopold

If you want removable USB cable
1) Leoplold/Ducky

If you arent picky, and u just want a long lasting, time proven mechanical keyboard, I'd say go for the Filco smile.gif.

Where can I get that kind of kit?
*
Apple store tongue.gif
Under camera connection kit. Its RM89 for 2 adapters (one usb, one SD).
Alternatively you can try the china cheap ones sold in the garage sale. They're large (because they combine the USB and a few memory formats into one adapter) and bulky. Not guranteed to work tho

Anybody here have experience using all white PBT/ABS keycaps?
I'm wondering whether is the maintenance to keep it clean difficult?
So tempted, but after seeing's ripster's keycaps getting so dirty within a month's usage, kinda got me scared >.<

I ever use pbt white for a short period. Its far faster to get 'muddy' compare to abs one. What i did is to use the lcd screen cleaning fluid to clean. Mayb u can try?
*
Thanks for sharing your experience smile.gif. Is the white look worth the trouble of having to clean it tongue.gif. I do have to admit it looks very good compared to the more 'safe' black tongue.gif

=D share your kb picture?

Guess i'll go ahead for white pbt engraved without infill type tongue.gif
any takers for the extra tenkey, F row arrow cluster and insert/delete cluster? tongue.gif
or anyone wants to buy from taobao perhaps can share shipping with me (if i cant fill 1kg)
