you like black blank stuffs huh?
have you seen my HHKB with the Black Blank Keycaps on?  brows.gif

for your keycool key sets, those are not the cheapest, the cheapest one are RMB50.00 I think, its in the keycool official taobao page,
I do not have the link now, my firefox are down and I don't know where is the bookmark stored.

For its spacebar, I m not sure it fit or not, but it is going to fit on Leopold FC500R series,
and most spacebar won't fit on Leopold FC500R,
so I presume that will not fit on CM Quickfire, just presume, not sure about that.

yerp! prefer black and empty stuffs biggrin.gif.. mind showing a pic of your hhkb w/ the keycaps? biggrin.gif

wow there's even a RMB50 keycaps.... that's really cheap!!

I was planning to buy a red switch quickfire rapid... but what's stopping me is the branding all over the keyboard.. that's very unprofessional.

yeah.... but I figured since it won't be too hard to find keycaps, I just get it instead tongue.gif

sadly this keyboard has the "QuickFire" word on the spacebar, which tbh is kinda ugly.. in fact, all the fonts on this keycaps are ugly to me =.="

this is kinda cheap... but may I know why the spacebar won't fit? izzit too long? or the mount is different position?
*
Yup, that is the Keycool one I mentioned all this while.

The spacebar stem position is different, thus can't fit. May be you can consider other colors of spacebar? They are available singly in taobao at only 10RMB.

BTW, if you are getting CM Quickfire, get the 87 keys one instead of 104 keys. Because the 87 one having windowed keys for backlit for indicators LED, while 104 one don't, and so most other 104 keys set(including the FILCO one you asked).

For PBT, I will try 80 degrees Celsius first. If the dye is not taken up by the plastic, then increase slowly. Watch out for early signs of warping. And wait for a few hours at lower temperatures before bumping up the heat. This is a slow process. Don't be too aggressive too early. Also, I got someone to stir the thing constantly - the caps should not touch the bottom of the pot, or else...

I dunno about ABS. You have to Google for the minimum temperature that the ABS starts to warp.
*
what I found in wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acrylonitrile_butadiene_styrene
Generally ABS would have useful characteristics within a temperature range from -20 to 80 °C

any help with that? should I heat the dye liquid up to 80 °C then stand for a few hours, then let it cold down by its own?
ABS's melting point is 105°C thou, should have no problem boiling the liquid since the boiling point of water is 100°C only right?
or how about stewing it? with 2 pot, 1 small fill with water and boil them and 2nd pot in the middle, with the dye liquid......

Damn, I m starting to felt excited, I will definetly going to try this out.

Haha. Thanks for that info. I didn't know that stuff about ABS. How about you try around 70 deg first, and then slowly increase until the dye goes in or your keycaps melt? Give it a few hours before you increase the temperature. If you add extra stuff besides the dye in the solution, be careful. Remember your science class talking about adding salt to raise the boiling point? I have a German friend who told me he will never use water above 60 deg for his ABS caps... (just letting you know)

That double pot method may work (I guess) but, if I were you, I'd keep the temperature below 90 degrees. 100 seems too high. And I'll still stir the thing throughout the time it is in the solution. After you do your experiment, let us know the results. smile.gif

You are right, I have to check the temperature of double pot stewing the dye solution before really put the ABS keys in to the pot.
a few hour you say? how long exactly is it? is it visually seem ok mean ok?
I m now waiting the keycaps to arrive. hopefully it arrive before Diablo 3, if the Diablo 3 are here, I might abandon all other projects doh.gif

ABS deforms very easily under high heat, please be aware of this issue.
