I just recently started to play back WOW after lapse of 4 years since Burning Crusade. I played WOW since 2008 during the original 40-men raid and stopped in Burning Crusade. Back then there most of the players were adults with family and working life, we have mutual understanding and work together during raids, etc. Ventrillo is always occupied even during non-raid period as we enjoy talking with each other.

And now, when I made a come back, I realized that too many kids (most prolly below 16 yrs old), playing WOW instead of their parents. They QQ, brag about how many lvl 85 toons they had, how much EPIC gear they had, how pro they are (in terms of tanking, dpsing and healing, etc), and keep blaming others when doing a dungeon run.

Is there anyone out here experienced/encountered this kind of situation before? If I were their parents, I would give them a big Chuck Norris slap in the face tongue.gif

I'm 28 yrs old by the way tongue.gif

Got the news if I received SOR from a WOW player, I will get free upgrade to Cata kekeke, so I decided to give it another try after 4 years. But now it seems like no point playing in PVP server anymore as level grinding just need to wait at your capital for dungeon run thanks to the ez-mode cross realm dungeon queue.

No need to grind level outside, no need to wait at the entrance of dungeon whereby ganks and world PVP will always happen (remember the goold old days whereby people with full Tier 2 will camp on the entrance of BWL and MC preventing progressing guild people to raid on their schedule? LOL)

No more camping on lower level to initiate a world PVP. Basically, WOW is more like a PVE thing nowadays, all get ding 85 thru dungeon, get into raid, get gear and more gear without going outside world for the PVP fun (BGs, Arena not counted as outside world PVP).

One word, Blizz has made it Ez-mode for those QQ-ing children who after more gear and simply enjoy grinding gear week in and week out. WOW has lost it's soul....

I was never much of a pvp player. I pretty much hide in Alterac valley behind trees and buff, and snipe with my hunter. If I charge ahead, it usually is with my druid in bear form. That is usually/most of the time how I play. Sometime hide/stealth and steal flags ect, but usually, as my skill in pvp is limited, I dont fight face to face much, unless of course on a one way trip to graveyard as a bear tank just soaking damage.

Then again, I was in pve realm for the longest time. When I was questing the other day, I was surprised that an alliance in thaurissan, manage to just aim shot me for 20k and kill me.( I was at 20k+ hp as I was just solo questing like 3 mobs at a time in moonkin form, lvl 82-3)
Then, after that I went to guild chat to QQ about how I got pwned....

Also, I did participate in World PVP/E of raiding Ironforge/Stormwind...but I must say, questing is very different now.

If you dont like PVE, then perhaps WOW would not be that fresh for you. For me I certainly enjoyed all those new cutscene, backstabbing scenerio, various phased enviroment that was here since WOTK.

Achievement is another thing that keep tracks of various mundane stuff. Even the amount of gold you made in AH is now tracked... so you know what type of goblin you are.

Also, if you have your expectation adjusted, all QQing would not be unexpected...

Any player who encounters wipage (is there such a word) would try to assign blame, some to others, some to themselves. And with the anonymity, usually it is harder to assign blame to yourselves. Like when I dps low, I say I am like newbie... players usually dont bother too much.

However, the other day when I first ran random dungeon, I was promptly kicked by the group I was in.(I admit, that got me thinking wow I suck bad man.) Yeah, in case you didnt know, you can vote to kick out other players now a days.

I probably still suck, but I switch to bear tank,(which I previously dabbled more then moonkin) and I have not been kicked off random dungeons, and usually find a group in 1sec after queuing. dps on the other hand like 8minutes and longer)

Also, when I was doing 40 mans, you can also be sure there are pre-Madonna around, who would do all kind of drama. Usually, you gotta whisper various people to pacify them, and communicate discretely and respectfully. I have personally been loot whore before might still be... but jeez.... I adjusted my expectation, dont assign too much importance to WOW and I guess I live a little happier when good things happen.

Lastly, to say again, PVE is really nice, and I like companion pets alot too. (questing yields lots of experience, and it is quite fresh even after the last 10 quest involved you collecting the piece of basilik meat that you did when you were lvl 35 in stranglethorn.) You get to do various new things like lancing some flying birds... woah... kind of fresh)

I chuckled a bit when you wrote pre-Madonna which means before Madonna.

I knew exactly what you meant, so I think the right word should be prima donna. smile.gif

1. Vets are moving away from WoW in droves. I'm not kidding you on this one. Most find other games, others well.. I don't know. Me myself, I just quit it for SWToR.

2. Dragon soul as a raid, is a big fail. Our guild cleared it in a week, no we didnt' try HM the next week, we're already losing players left and right during our firelands days.

Most of the veterans I still keep in touch with in the other guilds were talking about either leaving the game, or already did.

What's left? Well you saw it.

LoL.

But then again, that's the exact same situation we had on the end of ICC days down in LK. It's nothing new when a raid season drags for too long. Just that this time, the raid sucks exceptionally bad that the burnout comes much sooner.

heh i just got into WOW as well after a 2 years hiatus from the game. played till level 80, and halfway through raiding level 80 instances i just quit cold turkey, couldnt take it anymore. i think i was on mimiron in ulduar or something like that

IMO, level 60 was quite boring, level 70 introduced a more versatile gameplay and more pvp options. world pvp events and the BG's were fun. Arena was super challenging, especially playing as enhance shaman and with streamyx lag lol. talk about giving yourself a handicap huh lol.

Level 80 was okay at first, but pvp wise enhance shaman kinda died off, other classes got too overpowered its simply not viable to play enhance for arenas. kinda lost my will to play at that point lol. then lag became so bad i had to quit raiding, and subsequently the game.

came back for a while to see ICC content, quit again after playing for a month.

and now im back to see deathwing!

I agreed that Burning Crusade is the best Expansion Blizzard has ever made for WOW. Me myself I started from level 60 WOW, stopped just before BC came out. 1 year later I played back again after I saw those people in cyber cafes playing arena and also the new Eyes of the Storm BG.

After cleared MH and BT, while PVP i have full S4 gear as a holy pally, I stopped again due to work commitment.

And 1 week ago, I received new SOR from people to play back due to its FREE upgrade to Cata (no need buy key FTW), and free realm, fiction xfer. Chose a Malaysian guild and xfer there...after playing more than a week...my toon already has ilvl of 371....its kinda easy...world pvp not happening anymore....end game raid has been too common...End Game Tier Set has too many levels for one same Tier....everyone got epics here and there...nothing to be proud of...

I remember back then when people were holding Sulfuras, hand of Ragnaros with full tier 1 in WOW original while in BC, Warglaive with full tier 6 or S4 armor....

agree . Bizzard is all abt money now . design a raid/dungeon also lazy look at last time raid/dungeon

MC, BWL , Karazan , all well design the boss location, boss fight, raid map so complex till u can lost in side the raid .

now CATA/WOTLK day RAID/dungeon /. very straight forward . move left kill kill kill , move right kill kill finish .

every 1 got epic . every1 happy . lol . pls come back again next week.!!!@@.

Agreed bro, I miss the day when we farm ZG items just to prepared for MC > BWL. And the early days when C'Thun is downed in AQ. I requires so much commitment and professionalism from every players ranging from punctuality, know-how-to-play-ur-class, flask/gold repair/food prep, maturity, etc...

But I dont agree BWL has complex raid map tongue.gif it's more like straight forward bosses fight (except those bosses were very hard).

Maybe I'm still new to Cata, so I'm still learning DS fight on normal mode and hopefully moving into heroic soon. From the way I see it, yes, Blizz concentrate on making money now rather than improve the game. They making the game more suit to casual players so that more ppl will involve in the game thus, making more money smile.gif

haha for player like me who played wow after cata have no idea what you guys are talking about. But I enjoyed my short 2 months of WoW playing nevertheless. however those kind of PVE time commitment is something I could not do, I just queue for random PVP event just go in hack and slash, it's very fun and not much epic gear required for that
