other than ducatis,

you have the very expensive MV Agusta F4 bikes, the awesome Aprilia RSV4, and other italian bikes. there are some other european bikes (e.g. BMW S1000RR), but pricewise, they are nowhere near a ferrari or a lambo

busa, R1, ZZR14 and the likes are japanese supercar counterparts - just like what a nissan gt-r or a honda nsx are

but for a rm100+k, u can get a bike that is on par with supercar performance (top speed 300+ mph, 0-100 in less than 3s)

with RM500k u can get a desmosedici brows.gif

but noobies like us should stay away from litre bike. try a beginner friendly er6-f if you want. it's relatively affordable, easy to maintain and easy to ride

Radioactive-seems like govt sucking a lot of money from bikes and cars eh. Hopefully one day I get to try out the feeling of those bikes smile.gif

Lucifah-I just checked the Japanese bikes, but I prefer the ducatis design. But 0-100 in less than 3 sec is fast mang. 500k for a bike is crazyyy..but the name desmosedici sounds very European and devilish. Lemme go google this..
*
cheapest ducati is the monster 795. thai assembled. 60+k.

diavel is 130+k range

streetfighter starts at 99k

the sexy 1199 starts at 160k

all you can get from marion caunter's hubbie.

Same here @-@
But the 1198 or 1199 is a true beauty
yeah makes sense, even a normal Honda exe bike USUALLY go faster than cars after red light, unless the car drivers step to the full in first sec.

Oh and how is the test for 1000cc bike license gonna be like? Definitely should be different for normal bike license rite?
*
B2: up to 250cc (this is the normal license u alwasy see around)

B1: 250 - 499cc (this one i think no more already since not many bikes within this engine cap range)

B: 500cc and above (this is also called B-FULL)

Oh so the B full how do they test u I mean.
I remember the B2 license test is just balancing on bike, using left right hand to signal and all that...but the B full test should be different and harder no?
*
B2 and B-full test same one, only 2 difference

B / B2 exam:

1. 1 1/2 roundabout turn
2. 7-second bridge run
3. cones
4. emergency brakes
6. traffic stop (3 time wave like a girl then stop)

the differences:

5. series of bumps rides

and you have to use a big >500cc bike to do all that w/o falling or your feet touching down (except during emergency braking)

Oh i see

6. traffic stop (3 time wave like a girl then stop)

This is the most embarrassing part of motorcycle test ....
So for someone who knows how to ride a normal bike should be easy to ride superbike rite? Only have to learn to use clutch and balance heavier bike I assume.
Is there any place to learn/practice for beginners? Like perhaps some race tracks? Or should we practice with mat rempits smile.gif
*
yes and no

the bike weight difference is very big. a normal kapcai is about 100kg, while a typical bike would weigh at least 180 (a cheaper er6 will weigh at 220, and an expensive superbike can be as light as 150kg)

u definitely can't afford a handle lock on a big bike. the turning radius is very small, so you can't maneuvre around like a kapcai would

the acceleration is very tempting, and so sudden. one twist of a throttle what you may use on a kapcai would send you flying on a superbike

learning the clutch is the easy part if you have experience driving a manual car. just make sure you have strong left fingers.

Wah one twist of throttle can fly Liao, sounds exciting.
I've seen videos of ppl do wheelie, looks dangerous but fun also.
Everytime see ppl ride superbike sure wear jacket one, does it really help if we accident and fall?
And also is superbikes easy target for thieves? I heard thieves can unlock normal bike in 10-20 secs....if 100k bike stolen then sad.gif
*
with armored leather jacket and proper sliding techniques, you can save some bones, and bruises, but there's no guarantee

with normal riding jacket, lightly armored one, you can perhaps save some deep scratches, but if you fvked up pretty well, you may see some bones broken

any bikes can be easily stolen. that's why you have disc locks. put many2 sure take more time for thieves to curi

some high end bikes come with immobilisers built in - you can't start the bike without the original key

and most ppl dunno how to ride a bike. most thieves would do the stupid noob thing and end up revving too much and fall down, crashing your expensive bike.

Bones? That's some scary stuff man, lemme have a second though haha
But immobilizers sound useful.
Is it a must to get b2 license then only apply b full or can straight take b full?
*
u can take B full directly, but if you have no prior riding experience, the learnign curve will be a bit steep

ride carefully, know your limit, observe traffic rules & respect your bike

had my driving license for 14 years

best advice?

alwasy bring a rain jacket or you may end up standing in a wooden shack by the roadside, while haning your head in shame, watching all the cars that you overtook at 130km/h passed by you

hi lucifah,

i'm pretty much interested in er6n
but how about the bike's loan? izzit similar with car hire purchase?with bank or the shop?

and the new ducati monster? can't apply loan from bank?

please share
thanks
*
sorry. can't help you with the bank loan details since i pay my bike in just 1 installment, i.e. cash laugh.gif

but from what i gathered from friends:

1. use personal loan, bank rakyat offers loans @ 4% p.a. advantage is the green card is in your name. downside is your loan amount can be very limited.

2. hire purchase - very few banks will offer hp for motorbikes, and their rates vary. last i heard is public bank @ 4.7 - 4.8% interest. maybank is at 6%. Aeon is worse, at almost 10%. only advantage is you can loan any amount you want, but financing margin is only 70% - meaning you have to pay 30% d/p

application is like normal - payslips, employment letter, tax return, etc etc etc.

hope that helps

Nice thread, can I take over/tumpang? tongue.gif  I have zero experience in riding a bike and am currently targeting the Ducati Monster 795, is it suitable for newbie, provided that I'll promise myself to know my own limits innocent.gif ? Besides, how much is the road tax & insurance for this bike?
*
road tax in sarawak is bloody cheap, but you get lowya roads here

rm40 for my 650cc

insurance? depends on the sum insured. mine, fully value insured with 1st party, all rider, around rm900+

QUOTE(louyit @ Jul 6 2012, 08:07 PM)
Maintainance isn't the biggest issue..the loan is..because banks don't give loans on bikes
*
yes, some banks do give hire purchase loans on motorbikes, but the interest is very high (around 6%) and financing margin is only 70% (meaning you have to pay 30% DP)

alhtough you can buy the same models as the police, u can't get exactly the same

the police bikes from honda are specially designed for police use, with integrated equipment - not an add on or aftermarket upgrade. it was factory fitted - the siren, intercom, hazard, and lots more controls

Ar?  Is Italian,  . . . .  Tyre is standard, wear n tare part that become Ur monthly liability if u ride it on daily basic
*
that is if u live in a perfect world

in our reality, bikes tend to fall down. accidents tend to happen. and that's where it hurts you the most financially, should you survive any mishaps w.o injuries

a simple bike fall would cause fairings to breaks, turn signals, side mirrors, handle bars - these small things cost a lot of money, and time to order, especially if it's an european bike

don't forget to factor in the periodical maintenance and time needed to look after your bike - oiling your chain every 500km, changing the motor oil and filter every 3 - 6k km, and such.

and your protective gears. good helmets cost 800 - 1,000+. u don't want to be wearing el cheapo malaysia, thailand or china made helmet with your duc monster, right? also important are gloves, costint you 100 - 200+, which will save your skin if you fall. riding boots are especially important. cost about 500+ for a good one. jackets are more personal. either you get full leather (500+) or a armored mesh jacket (300+ for grade a replica, 700+ for original)

all these are most probably accident-once-only. after and accident, you have to replace almost all your riding gears to to damages or torn as it dragged across the tarmac, protecint your skin bones.

Can i purchase a bike prior to having my bike license? ie with loan from bank..

sure can. only problem is your insurance might be a bit more since you don;t have the proper riding license, so you need to include all rider insurance.

what u means exhaust tone ?? if u want, u can change exhoaust system or u means engine sound ? 2 pinton Vs 4 piston Vs 2 stroke Vs 4 stoke is totally different ...
*
it's 2-cylinder versus 4-cylinder

2 cylinder engines (or twins) sound like a mesin jahit,

4-cylinder engine has very sweet engine tone

6n - naked

6f - with fairing

mechanically, both are the same

except one has full fairing and another has bikini fairing

u can try to have a go with the blade650r, much cheaper than even the entry level er6

no. it has mesih jahit noise

change your sock exhaust and you may get decent engine noise

who ever hates the kapchai sound of er6s, take XJ6 instead. Its a 4 cylinder bike. I think the price is around RM40K or so brand new.

replace the stock exhaust system with Leo Vince GP Pro (RM4K), it will sound beast.
tho, if you can count, RM48K could get you a 2008 Z750 Kawi with much sexier look.

oh my god.. I LOVE YOU Z750!!!

damn u naked bikes. You are killing mee!!

sadly, we only have the diversion, which is neither here nor there.

it's like wearing a 1-piece bikini, which is not sexy, nor do it cover up all of it.
