Come to think of it, maybe these problematic models are rejected models from oversea? People reject and exchange iPads everyday. I don't think Apple will scrap those units. For example what I've read in the other thread, someone exchange until Harvey Norman ran out of stock. What happened to those opened box and rejected unit? On top of my head maybe they refurbished, re-sealed and resell. It is not viable to scrap it. So all the so called defective units keep circulating in the market.

From the poll until this moment it seems like the defective one and non-defective one is 50:50 ><

I guess it's a gamble everyone has to take. From buyers point of view, just get from retailers which is more lenient in exchange policy. That way if really badly 'defective' you still can change it. For me I wouldn't consider minor cosmetic scratches as defective. Maybe I'm less anal.

Mine 64gb wifi is very good..

I've bought mine from Sen Heng (64gb + wifi + 4g) and has no problem.

Wi-Fi is okay (set up apple id from the ipad itself).

Visited some website to download colored images to test for bleeding and dead pixel - none.

So I'm pretty much satisfied. Maybe one day I will get Digi day plan - but that if there is a problem, a telco problem, not ipad.

I bought 4G 64 gb but got home button issue. Demanded for replacement n got a new set. So far so good....from courts.
