-Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) has just been updated to version 4.0: http://windows.microsoft.com/mse http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2691905-According ZDNet: QUOTE “This update to Microsoft Security Essentials is part of the standard product update release cycle. This service update contains product enhancements to improve performance and user experience. We have improved on Microsoft Security Essentials’ Automatic Remediation, which will automatically quarantine highly harmful threats without prompting the user to take action as well as minor bug fixes in set up, malware remediation and other areas.” -According to Wikipedia: QUOTE It was officially released on the 24th of April, and updates automatically through Windows Update. In Security Essentials 4.0, the options to configure to scan all downloads, monitor only incoming or outgoing files, enable or disable behavior monitoring or network inspection system have been deleted. I remember last time when the first update for MSE came in, it said it was not and never meant to replace an anti-virus. according to microsoft MSE is AV but MSE failed the AV test however this is up to user whether want to use it as a only AV i only use MSE because its simplicity and lightweight, quite satisfied with it detection

If you know what your doin, MSE can be sufficient for protection. If u choose to use MSE but need extra protection, try combo with Malwarebyte.
