Domenech Convinced Me To Join Bayern - Ribéry

Bayern's new record euro25 million signing Frank Ribéry has revealed that he received some convincing advice before he agreed to join the club.

For many young players like Ribéry, the national team can act as a second family and Ribéry has admitted he sought the advice of his national coach and fellow team mates before reaching his decision to choose Bayern over Real Madrid, who also showed an interest.

"I spoke with my team mates and trainer Domenech about the move," said the Frenchman. "He didn't hesitate and said: 'Go there, Bayern is a big club and you will enjoy it there'."

"I want to win titles with Bayern," he continued. "Bayern are an ambitious, a more serious club.

"The management did an awful lot to convince me to join. My national team mate Willy Sagnol also told me I'd made the right choice.

"He told me lots of positive things about the club. He said that Bayern were a serious club, with a great stadium, very good players and a positive, family atmosphere.

"That is important for me as a young player when playing abroad."

The 24 year old has had an eventful life. As a child he was involved in a serious car accident where he was thrown through the windscreen. The scars on his face are a reminder of this.

In 2004 Ribéry joined Metz, but had to move abroad to Galatassary in 2005 after an unsavoury fight incident in a disco. He remained in Turkey for only six months before a return to France with Marseille, which is where Ribéry really made people stand up and take note of him.

Zé Roberto Paves The Way For Bayern Return

After presenting Luca Toni and Frank Ribéry as Bayern's latest signings, Uli Hoeneß received the news he was waiting for, on Friday night.

Hoeneß had earlier announced that: "In principle we are in agreement over a 2 year contract with Zé Roberto."

However he saw a problem with his further involvement with Brazil: "We are of the opinion that it is not a good idea for a player who is slightly older to be flying back and forth across the Atlantic six times a year."

Brazilian Zé Roberto called a press conference and read a statement that brought a smile to Hoeneß' face.

After 86 caps and 2 wins in the Copa America (1997, 1999) he has decided to call time on his international career.

"I think my time in the Brazilian national team is at an end. Now is the time to give younger players a chance," explained the 32 year old Santos midfielder.

This announcement has removed the final hurdle in his return to Bayern Munich after a year's absence.

Zé Roberto played for Bayern between 2002 and 2006, before leaving last summer after Felix Magath didn't renew his contract. He is now set to become their seventh signing this summer.

Bayern Allow Santa Cruz And Makaay To Leave

Bayern Munich have revealed that both forwards are on their way out after declaring their intention to leave.

The transfer of Miroslav Klose to Bayern Munich will be the end of Roy Makaay's stint with the Bavarians.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed that both players had asked for the club's for permission to leave.

"Roy Makaay has told us that he would like a transfer if Klose comes, and that is fine," Rummenigge told the Munchner Merkur.

"Santa Cruz would like to leave and as soon as he finds a club who can match our valuation. That would be fine too," added Rummenigge.

Claudio Pizarro has already signed for Chelsea on a free transfer, as Bayern eye a clear-out.

Luca Toni and Jan Schlaudraff have completed their moves to Munich, Podolski is set to stay on, and Miroslav Klose is expected to join before too long.

Under the circumstances, it will be difficult for either Makaay or Santa Cruz to see regular action.

Bayern Go On YouTube

Barely a year after starting their own on-line TV station FCB.tv, Bayern Munich have announced further developments in the digital area.

From 15 July Bayern will begin an exclusive video co-operation with YouTube - the biggest on-line video portal in the world.

"We are delighted to be able to work with YouTube," said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.

"With this project we will be able to reach fans all over the world. It is an important pillar in the Bayern media portfolio."

After Chelsea, AC Milan and Barcelona, Bayern become only the fourth club to have their own channel on YouTube.

Content from FCB.tv such as interviews, and club features, well be available at www.youtube.com/fcbayern

Fans will be able to comment on the footage and also be able to post their own Bayern related films. Use of the site will be free.

Coverage of matches in the Bundesliga and UEFA Cup will remain exclusive to FCB.tv, though.

Trapattoni: Toni Is Perfect For Bayern

Former Bayern Munich trainer Giovanni Trapattoni has said that Luca Toni is a perfect match for Bayern Munich.

The Italian coach, who had two spells with the club in 1994/95 and 1996-1998 has given an interview to the 'Münchener Tageszeitung' in which he praised the signing of the World Cup winning striker.

"He is an unbelievably important player. He has experience, technique, a nose for goal and is strong in the air. He possesses all the attributes you need for the top level" he explained.

The current trainer of Red Bull Salzburg added "The fact that he can't speak German will not prevent success. Football is universal and top players do not have this problem.

"I was in Germany for years and couldn't speak the language, but still had success" he went on.

Trapattoni is convinced Bayern will return to the glory days very soon. "Bayern is run by people who know football. Recently the team have looked tired but the necessary new signings have been made."

He is also sure the Bavarians will make a quick return to Champions' League saying "Bayern is one of the most important clubs in Europe. It is not Bayern's way to play in the UEFA Cup. It is only for one year."

Bayern Sign Zé Roberto Again

Bayern Munich have confirmed they have made Brazilian Zé Roberto their seventh signing of the summer.

user posted image

The midfielder has returned to the club on a free transfer after a year away, and has signed a two year contract. His medical examination was completed on Thursday and he signed earlier today.

"We are delighted that Zé Roberto has returned to Bayern" said Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "He is technically gifted, quick and will always run".

He had previously appeared for Bayern between 2002 and 2006 (winning the double three times) but left last year after failing to agree a new contract, and returned to Brazil to play for Santos.

He soon returned to his best form and led the team to the Sao Paulo championship and a semi-final place in the Copa Libertadores. Such was his popularity that over 17,000 fans signed a petition against him leaving.

[color=blue]But the skilful midfielder has decided on a return to the Allianz Arena. He cited the warmth that he felt in his first spell as well as concerns over his family in Brazil. Kidnappings of player's relatives are commonplace there.

Trainer Ottmar Hitzfeld, who knows Zé Roberto from his first spell as trainer, is glad to have him back: "He has the class, the character, and he speaks German. Apart from right back, he can play anywhere."

It is thought that he will partner Mark van Bommel in the centre of midfield, with Schweinsteiger and Ribery on the flanks.

Miroslav Klose Joins Bayern Munich!

The early transfer of Miroslav Klose from Werder Bremen to Bayern Munich has just been announced. After weeks of speculation the deal has now been done.

user posted image

In an announcement to Kicker, it has been revealed that the German striker will join the Bavarian side now rather than at the end of his contract in July 2008.

This ends weeks of speculation. Exact details of the transfer have yet to be agreed, but it is thought that Bayern have raised their initial offer of euro10 million to euro12 million. The fee could rise to euro15 million dependant on Bayern success.

According to sources at Bayern there were amicable discussions between Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß from Bayern's side and Klaus Allofs and Manfred Müller from Bremen. The transfer should go through on 1st July.

"It has been about a fair solution for both sides" Rummenigge revealed.

Klaus Allofs confirmed, "Bayern Munich have fulfilled our conditions, so that we can give our agreement to this transfer."

Klose will arrive in Munich on Thursday for a medical examination before signing a four year contract. The 29 year old could then appear at Bayern's first pre-season training session on Friday.

The first rumours of a move appeared in April, but ever since a poker game over the player has ensued. Bremen made their demands clear, while Bayern remained confident they could get their man on their terms. It had gone very quiet recently, as Bremen stood their ground.

Klose joins Frank Ribéry and Luca Toni as Bayern's big summer signings. The 'complete overhaul' that Uli Hoeneß promised in May has now taken place.
