To upgrade from 512K RM44 to BB deal 1M RM110, can I opt for self installation by collecting the free modem at TM point?? hmm.gif

I'm confident my line can support up 4M because of very low ATT & very high SNR. thumbup.gif

Hi there. I want to ask something, regarding Streamyx subscription.
I would like to know if it is ever possible to have a Streamyx internet connection, however, without having the need to go to a TM Center, to obtain or register? meaning, I can just log on online elsewhere to register for a Streamyx Internet service and have it up and running at my house?

As right now, I do have a working telephone line and a working modem. So I would like to know if it is possible to get an internet line without having the need to go to TM Center.

Do enlighten me on this please smile.gif

Standard Packages

Used to be a link to on-line registration for Standard Packages but gone! Anyway you can try ask any of your friends/bro/sis who has active streamyx home account to register as Introducer for Member Get Member Programme here, then he/she can register streamyx for you and get a rebate:

just want to ask....
why my internet seems slow....

i notice when, i want to watch videos at youtube or movies online....
it always buffer

but 'm the only user in the house.....

need ur help how to check whether somebody steal my wifi.....or what's wrong with my internet......

What's your streamyx package/speed?

You need at least 1Mb for smooth SD videos & 4Mbit for HD videos.

Mostly evening time 6.00pm~12.00am traffic jam. sweat.gif

You can try switch off you router's wifi RF carrier & use direct LAN connection, if your speed recover then you have:
a) wifi theft - change your wifi security passkey with WPA/WPA2 setting.
or
b) poor wifi range - reduce your PC's distance.

i'm using 1mb

previously last month youtube quite ok....

i did check for the wifi theft through cmd

but no other user

i'm not using wifi...i use LAN....just got splitter for phone.....

when i check speednet....i can see the upload / download quite low around 300kb....

is it i need to complain to Telekom? coz i knew that as a customer at least we entitle 500kb....correct me if i'm wrong
*

TM's "Best effort" service is at least 80% of the subscribed speed, you should get at least 819Kb.

Here's what you should check:
a) any big event/change since last month's OK condition?
e.g. phone line work, modem setting/location/splitter, lightning strike, wind storm etc...

b) post your modem's status here during slow condition.
e.g. Attached Image

c) connect modem/router directly without splitter & do speed test using TM's speedometer
http://58.27.105.110/index2.php?1713166049

d) post your modem's status here again after c). smile.gif

c) At main menu click Status & sub menu click Device Info.

I am currently on Lan Streamyx 1Mbps using Linksys WAG200G Wireless Router/Modem.
Wanted to upgrade to at least 5 Mbps.
Waited for ages for Unifi/Maxis Fibre optic but doesn't look like its coming soon as I am staying in Tg Bungah Penang. Been told it will be here next year but this was 2 years ago.
I am seriously thinking of upgrading to the Streamyx 4Mbps package but the problem is the poor SNR on my current Streamyx line. Its at only 11.0 dB. It takes more than a min for internet connection.
I have tried on another router/modem TP-Link TD-W8960N but SNR still show low at 11.0 dB.
Anything I can do to improve line SNR before upgrading to 4 Mbps?
What is a good and relaible Wireless router/modem to replace my Linksys WAG200G ?
Thank you
*
Your SNR is borderline but OK, that doesn't tell the real condition of your phone line quality, you should also check the Line ATT, for 1Mb you need <70dB, for 4Mb you need <50dB.

On your side you can check your wall phone line socket for loose wire or loose/dirty contact, change it if it's very old & dirty, sometimes it's just the phone cable plug not fully inserted into the wall socket especially those white square wall socket with spring latch protective cover covering the socket, for these sockets most people mistaken the 1st click when plug in as full insert which is not, the 1st click is just the plug's locking tab clearing the spring cover & the plug is just 2/3 into the socket with the conductor pins barely touching, if you stop here you will get no or poor connection with very high Line ATT, push the plug further & you should get the 2nd click which is the plug's locking tab fully locking/seating into the socket behind the spring cover.

Another thing the connection from wall socket to modem should be as short as possible without any excess bundle/roll of long phone cable lying on the floor.

As for the internal & external house copper wiring's quality, TM's will have to check & test it during installation before they approve your 4Mb subscription, if they found out poor wiring quality from pole until wall socket, you can ask them to change it but if your house is too far from CO/DSLAM, TM will reject your 4Mb subscription.

Asus or Belkin but they are bit pricey. biggrin.gif

Hi guys, got myself the 2Mbps package but currently trying to find out how to check bandwidth etc etc. Modem used is innacomm W3400V6, supplied by TM. Have not considered getting my own modem since I think it's unfair that we have to pay for something we are already entitled to.

Do speed test using TM's speedometer
http://58.27.105.110/index2.php?1713166049

TM's speedometer is good for checking local internet speed within Malaysia which TM guaranteed to give at least 80% of your subscribed speed, TM will only entertain you if you complain about slow speed using TM's speedometer.

Oversea speed you can only check by 3rd party such as Speedtest.net, the speed normally varied according to countries and TM's oversea bandwidth & it's not guaranteed by TM, anyway if no problem you can normally get full speed from most countries. biggrin.gif

Guys just some simple question. About my streamyx, i am lagging on certain ip range. Since it is dynamic IP, i always need to reconnect till i get my desirable IP. So is it possible to set only to connect to certain IP range? For example i only want to connect to ip start with 124.xxx.xxx.xxx without keep reconnecting until i get?
*
No & yes:
a) No -- IP range assignment is control by TM's DHCP server.
b) Yes -- Hack your modem/router's firmware to add subroutines for conditional IP range PPP connection. sweat.gif

Easiest way is once you get the desire IP range, keep your modem/router on 24/7. cheers.gif

o.O I using dial up connection. Although my modem seems able to set to router mode but I never try before. If i turn off my PC it wont effect my IP right if my modem in router mode remain on? But my adsl light easy to blink every time got lightning strike in my area. Will that reset my IP?
*
When the modem in router mode, the internal PPPoE dialer will do the connection, the connected IP will stay as long as it's power on, but will reset/redial if DSL carrier lost sync or re-sync, you better off your modem & disconnect phone line during lightning storm. smile.gif

Hi all! I'm currently on the Streamyx gradpack 2mbps for Rm120 monthly. However, some of my housemates are moving out so I think I may need to terminate the contract after only 4 months.

My question is, what will the termination fee be like?
*
Streamyx / iTalk Phone / TM Phone / Home Prepaid Terms & Conditions apply.

Minimum subscription period of TM Phone/Homeline & Streamyx is twelve [12] months.

STREAMYX TERM & CONDITION
8.4 In the event of suspension or termination of the User Account at any time during the Minimum Subscription Period, except where such termination arises from TM’s breach or fault or an event of Force Majeure, then the Customer shall be liable to pay to TM all fees for the Service outstanding to TM including the administration charges or any other amount as imposed by TM from time to time.

For your new TM Phone line, you can't get back $75 deposit if terminate < 12 months.

Please call TM 100 for details. smile.gif

want to ask, if my area svc got problem, mean phone line will disconnect too?
cos already few day not internet....
the dsl light blinking, phone no sound.....
is possible my hpuse internal phone line broken cause it or tm fault?
*
Normally data service disruption only affects internet connection with DSL light blinking or not but phone line still working, DSL blinking + no phone could be several possible faults such as DSLAM lost power, TM technician accidentally screw up your line when doing jumper works at DSLAM, pole to pole or pole to house copper line broken hit by fallen trees or house internal copper line broken, try move your modem to another phone port if you have any, it could be just the loose wire connection inside your current wall port, else you've to call TM to check out your external phone line connection to pole. smile.gif

eee so can i use bitcomet for torrent download? I c the ping up and down many times and it happens so frequently. It 's looks weired. sad.gif Sometimes i quit the download and do ping test at TM Speedometer and i realise my downstream drop to 100kb... Wtf lol then i restart my modem and it back to normal again. LOl
*
Stop all download, torrent, disable modem's WiFi & use LAN connection to check speed using TM's speedometer again, could be someone hijack your WiFi. smile.gif

Probably targeted capping in your area, AFAIK most area are not capped, try set your torrent client (e.g. uTorrent) to forced uTP connections only, default setting normally uTP+TCP, TCP connections in torrent is 1st target for capping with uTP at 2nd, if your uTP connection also capped then VPN is your only option to bypass capping 100%. smile.gif

Hi i'm not sure where i shud ask..
i currently facing prob of having Internet slow..my internet is Streamyx 4mbps...back when 5 user(included me) use 4mbps is EXTREMELY FAST till u can finish ur drama episode per day~~
Unfortunately our hse increase 5 ppl to 7ppl...b4 CNY we still accept d internet as bcome normal mood...BUT after CNY..SLOW LIKE HELL...so the question is
1. Does d increase of user can affect the 4mbps speed?
2. When a person sit nearer 2 d modem, he/she will get faster den other?(i noe dis Q sound ridiculous)
3. Is 4mbps enough for 7 ppl user?? or shall i upgrade my internet speed??
*
1. Sure yes, just one guy with active torrent/streaming & the rest will suffer.
2. If using wifi then yes because got strong & stable signal.
3. Enough if not using torrent & streaming. smile.gif
