Guys just some simple question. About my streamyx, i am lagging on certain ip range. Since it is dynamic IP, i always need to reconnect till i get my desirable IP. So is it possible to set only to connect to certain IP range? For example i only want to connect to ip start with 124.xxx.xxx.xxx without keep reconnecting until i get?
*
No & yes:
a) No -- IP range assignment is control by TM's DHCP server.
b) Yes -- Hack your modem/router's firmware to add subroutines for conditional IP range PPP connection. sweat.gif

Easiest way is once you get the desire IP range, keep your modem/router on 24/7. cheers.gif

When the modem in router mode, the internal PPPoE dialer will do the connection, the connected IP will stay as long as it's power on, but will reset/redial if DSL carrier lost sync or re-sync, you better off your modem & disconnect phone line during lightning storm. smile.gif

Hi all! I'm currently on the Streamyx gradpack 2mbps for Rm120 monthly. However, some of my housemates are moving out so I think I may need to terminate the contract after only 4 months.

My question is, what will the termination fee be like?

I have a question. I subscribed to TM BB 1MB around October 2012, because the people in TMPoint said that there were no more ports available for the 4MB at that time. They told me, take the 1MB first and you can upgrade once the ports are available. The thing is, it's been almost four months now, and today they told me that TM has decided to stop all the ports for the 2MB package and higher. They said this is because UniFi will be coming to my area at around April this year. My question to you guys is, Is there no other way for me to upgrade my line anymore ? If I could upgrade my line to 4MB or the 8MB, I don't see why I'm gonna need UniFi anymore. Unless they are forcing us to switch to UniFi. brows.gif

It's good
You're called at 5mbps

Don't use torrents, they're bad, hog lots of bandwidth.

Instead of not using torrent, default utorrent client settings won't hog the line unless it's forced via protocol encription and having the uTP bandwidth management checked inside the settings. smile.gif

Normally data service disruption only affects internet connection with DSL light blinking or not but phone line still working, DSL blinking + no phone could be several possible faults such as DSLAM lost power, TM technician accidentally screw up your line when doing jumper works at DSLAM, pole to pole or pole to house copper line broken hit by fallen trees or house internal copper line broken, try move your modem to another phone port if you have any, it could be just the loose wire connection inside your current wall port, else you've to call TM to check out your external phone line connection to pole. smile.gif

Stop all download, torrent, disable modem's WiFi & use LAN connection to check speed using TM's speedometer again, could be someone hijack your WiFi. smile.gif

Instead of bitcomet, use utorrent, it hogs bandwidth less. Default settings are good enough already. Just don't use "force downloading" when you're using the line for other purpose. smile.gif

Hi there guys, I got some questions that need some answers...ok, here goes...

My dad, upgraded his 1mb plan to a 4mb streamyx plan last month...when I returned to my hometown and tested it, all was working superb...

I just returned again for the holidays and my dad says torrent downloading speeds are horrible. So I checked his desktop, and thought maybe some settings might have screwed up, so I did a clean installation of uTorrent and checked everything else and all seems to be fine, Youtube streaming is good, surfing is awesome, but torrents suck.

Suspecting a network setting gone wrong on the desktop, I whipped out my laptop to check, and once again, Youtube streaming is awesome, updated Steam games at 500++kb/s...it even peaked at 700kb/s...downloading setup files and emails peaked at an average of 200kb/s...but the moment I tried getting a torrent to download the max i'll get is around 10 or 20kb/s....

To clarify some things, I know for SURE, it aint the torrent file problem...what I did was test with torrents I already downloaded to be sure. Back in the city I'm using 5mb unifi, and it'll reach speeds of 500++ and finish downloading real fast, over here, it's takes ages...

Tm's speedometer and Speedtest report good speeds all around...

My question is, is it possible for TM to tweak our torrent download speeds...?? AFAIK this cant be, I thought they have removed any such capping...so what is my actual problem here...??

Thanks for your time in reading this. I'm not the biggest expert.
(Also dont tell me to switch to direct download sites, torrents have been reliable to me for years, I can get fast speeds anywhere except in my dad's 4mb internet. I'm just a son trying to help his dad have some entertainment of his own, without any complicated downloading procedures)

[If I have posted this Q in the wrong thread please notify me and I apologise]

Probably targeted capping in your area, AFAIK most area are not capped, try set your torrent client (e.g. uTorrent) to forced uTP connections only, default setting normally uTP+TCP, TCP connections in torrent is 1st target for capping with uTP at 2nd, if your uTP connection also capped then VPN is your only option to bypass capping 100%. smile.gif
