2 "cheaper" Booster Packs coming in early to mid 2006. Each will cost 10 USD (around RM 40 to 50). It will apparently be released as a download so no CD/DVD. sad.gif

Excerpt from press release:
The Battlefield 2 expansion pack planned to be launched during spring 2006 is now replaced by two booster packs. The change means slightly lower project revenues during the fourth quarter 2005 than during the third, due to a lower development budget. The anticipation though is that this will be compensated by higher royalty revenues during the first six month 2006.

The expansion packs in the Battlefield series have new maps, vehicles and weapons. Each Battlefield booster pack will have new but fewer maps, vehicles and weapons. Instead they are sold to a lower price: 9.99 USD. An expansion pack is usually sold at between 19.90 USD and 29.90 USD. Today at least two Battlefield 2 booster packs are planned for spring 2006.

FAMAS: The FAMAS is a French made assault rifle. Its development began in the late 60's and it is in wide usage within the French military today. It uses a bullpup layout with the magazine at the back of the gun, behind the trigger and fires standard 5.56mm NATO round. Its low damage is balanced by its high rate of fire.

- SA80 L85A2
- SA80 L85A2 with UGL (AG-36)
- HK21
- Benelli M4
- P90

P90: The P90 was developed specifically as a PDW for vehicle crew members such as tank drivers. The P90 has very good power for its size and uses an SS190 round. It features a polymer stock with downward ejection of spent cases.

- L96A1

1 New Army
- European Union

1 new award
- European Union Special Service Medal

Armored Fury will be released on March 28th and the focus is on large mechanized battles, harking back to the El Alamein style maps on BF1942. There will be 3 new maps - "Midnight Sun", "Operation Harvest" and "Operation Road Rage" - but also 2 new vehicle classes. Attack Jets and Recon Helicopters, which can spot nearby enemy units, will make their debut.

Both packs will be available exclusively online at EA Downloader at $9.99 each (euro9.99 in Europe and £5.99 in the UK).

Each new game will have a separate cdkey. Example, BF2 has one cdkey and Special Forces has another cdkey. Euro Force and Armored Fury will have their own seperate cdkeys.

If we all share 1 cdkey then we would be able to play single player only. tongue.gif

i thought this might be cool, that is of course until i learned you must pay for it.

I thought they were gonna make it like the add on packs that Epic release for UT, where they add more maps and stuff, absolutely FREE
*
To answer your statement this is what EA had to say.

Why are you choosing to only release new content as purchasable content? Why will you not do what you have done in the past and include new maps and other content as downloadable free patches? Don't you realize this is only infuriating people, and turning the old fan base away from the game?

Armando: There are many reasons for the shift. Obviously, it helps to offset the cost associated with the creation of the content. The idea came about through community requests for more content that was not expansion pack content. The community is always asking for more, but more isn't always an easy thing to deliver. This is an attempt to deliver more content without creating another expansion pack. It's a new approach and we're hoping it is successful.

So you see, EA, a multibillion dollar company compared to Epic cannot afford to release free content anymore. rolleyes.gif

BF2: Euro Force is set to be released on Feb 23rd. This date could however be applicable to Germany only, then again since the 1.2 patch is due out soon this could very well be true.

QUOTE
Here are some details:

- The boost pack will be released on February 23rd - whether this only applies to Germany is not clear
- When you buy Euro Force, you don't buy a physical product, merely a code. With this code you are then able to download the game with the EA Downloader
- It looks like you'll need a GameSpy username to use the downloader
- The download will be approximately 350MB in size

Source:BFNation News

The EA downloader website has already been updated for Euro Force. It also states that anyone in US, Europe and Asia will be able to purchase it.

*EDIT* The 1.2 patch readme states that there is no 64 player mp maps for Euro Force, only 16 and 32. Sucks! shocking.gif

There should be a cd-key or some sort.
I what know from people who bought SF through EA Downloader is when you make you purchase they will send to a code so you can start downloading.

Of course its legit. It cost 9.99 USD, you cannot simply get from anywhere only directly from EA but I'm surprised Crest is giving discount tongue.gif

No need SF to play Euro Force. The 3 maps will be part of the vanilla BF2 server rotation.
