First thing is what's your budget.. Are going for competitive or just casual.. There are pros and cons in touring same as drifting as well.. So are you willing to go deeper brows.gif

Price range can be between rm300 and beyond.. sweat.gif

Emmm, my budget I put 1000 to 1500.. For newbie like me maybe just for casual but after that sudah expert maybe with same kit I want to modify it for competitive (race) . My friends suggest me to buy kits that bit expensive 1. Because it last long with good quality. I starting to tertarik with Yokomo brand, what do u think??
Sorry, my writing and my answer for u a bit pusing2 =P =P

1-1.5k won't be enough if you are looking for a good set.
My suggestion is:
1. Get a good radio (sanwa or futaba - easily 600++)
2. Get a good esc and motor (easily 400++)
3. Get a good servo (savox etc 200+)
4. Get a medium range chassis (about 400++)
5. Battery also cost quite a bit (budget 200)

as a beginner, I think start with a medium range chassis is better as parts are cheaper and u can afford bashing and crashing.
Item 1-3 worth investing more because ppl tends to upgrade if started with lower range stuff.
Myself already upgraded the radio from a cheap china make to futaba.
And change a couple servo already.

I can only advise EP. Not a nitro guy.

Just my 0.02
