hi, this is a sync cable extension right? will it work only in cars or it will still serve any other extension usage? like adding the length of normal sync cable?

Just to let you all know, it wont work with W212 Mercedes E-Class and W204 Mercedes-Class. Both with built-in ipod cable but very short and inconvenient. With this extension, it can charge iPhone 4 but wont sync music.
