If my iPhone already in 5.1.1, do I have to restore first into fresh firmware before do the jailbreak?

My iphone 3GS is running 4.1 with 06.15.00 baseband... Is it possible to upgrade to 5.1.1?

Musclenerd has released the new redsn0w 0.9.14b1 with the capability for iPhone 3GS user who stuck with iPad baseband 06.15.00 to downgrade to 05.13.04.
