i just bought iphone last nite, beware of noob question of mine

phone current version is 5.0.1 and already jailbreak, since this is a 2nd hand unit, i want to totally wipe it off and update to 5.1.1 and jailbreak it

question is, should i connect to itunes and update it then jailbreak it?

please advise iphone sifus
