Hi all, forgive me cause I'm a little confused with all the terms used here and I'm lost in searching for a proper guide in updating iphone.
So I have an iPhone 3gs running on 4.3.3 jailbroken, unlocked with ultrasn0w. Now it runs on 06.15.00-6.4_M3S2 baseband, before I restore, I saw that it is impossible to perform upgrade or downgrade with my baseband updated. But I didn't care, I just tried to update on my own. Of course all kinds of error popped out and I have to edit the host file to cydia ip address and I managed to go into update process in iTunes. But it always gets stucked at the last portion of the firmware restore to factory 4.3.3 then it goes to recovery screen. (This is because I believe that I need to do a factory restore before I can update to factory 5.1.1 and then jailbreak it. Is there other way?)

In the end, I bricked my iphone, I'm only able to restore it back to 4.3.3 jailbreak with greenpoison and unlock it with ultrasn0w again.

So the question is, I want to update to 5.1.1 jailbreak from my current 4.3.3 jailbreak and does not want to repeat the process of bricking mu iphone then restore back to 4.3.3 which is stupid to do so...

Your help is much appreciated. Thanks a lot.=)

Stick to iOS 4? Apps nowadays needs iOS 5 to work, so I'm thinking of upgrading it. Is iOS 5 still unstable?

You need to use pwnagetool or sn0wbreeze and create a custom firmware for the 3Gs.

pwnagetool and sn0wbreeze? do you have the link or instruction to do it? cause I'm really confused of all the information posted on the internet.=(
