QUOTE(azraeil @ Jan 29 2013, 06:30 PM) If you use the "Update" option in iTunes, obviously it will not update an already updated firmware. You need to download the 6.1 firmware (I posted the link in my post in the previous page I think) and then do a Full Restore (which will wipe the iPhone clean). For the guide to do a full restore follow my previous posts. no. I used the download file. i click shift+update and select the .ipsw file 6.1

QUOTE(azraeil @ Jan 29 2013, 06:13 PM) Yes, but the actual tweet from pimskeks says If you people plan to upgrade to iOS 6.1 please don't do an OTA upgrade. Please make a full restore using iTunes.Right. From this site http://ijailbreaknow.com/apple/how-to-prep...ered-jailbreak/"Once you’ve backed up your device, go ahead and restore to iOS 6.1. If history is anything to go by, I always recommend a fresh and clean installation when preparing for a jailbreak. Yes, you can choose to just do a simple upgrade, but make sure it’s an upgrade using iTunes, not an OTA delta upgrade using the Settings > General > Software update feature found on your device." I'll try to do a update instead of a full restore. See can JB or not later

Wise advice you have there. Since iPhone backup is such an excellent system (much better than current Windows Phone 8 backup process), I also follow the same rule, I do a full restore (wipe clean) my iPhone, jailbreak and then restore my backup and synced my apps. This process has not failed me once and as the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Aiyohhh ... to update using iTunes no need to use redsn0w. Download the firmware from this link ... http://iclarified.com/750/where-to-downloa...ware-files-fromSelect the firmware for iPhone 4s. Once it finished downloading, open up iTunes and connect your 4s. Press Shift + Restore iPhone .... a new window will open asking you to point to the firmware file you just downloaded. Wait till it finished restoring your iPhone. I would recommend however, before you do this to make a FULL BACKUP to the computer (via iTunes).

QUOTE(perrrhhh @ Jan 30 2013, 03:45 PM) Yeyyy..!!! I hav just backup my iphone 4s using itunes at my pc then update to 6.1.. Then i restore back using itunes and now my iphone 4s are now empty..! Yeyyyyyy.. Oh god.. When you restore the backup, there should be a list of backup files, iTunes usually create a Post-restore backup file as well (which will be empty), choose the backup file that is older than that (maybe a backup file that is 20 minutes older) which should be the backup file pre-restoration.

QUOTE(decavalera @ Jan 30 2013, 01:43 PM) Then restore back to this backup after upgrade rite? Yes. OR (I think this applies during the Absinthe jailbreak so not sure if it is relevant to the upcoming 6.1 jailbreak) Wait until the jailbreak is out, jailbreak the phone after the jailbreak is released, then restore the backup But if you cannot live with an empty iPhone, go ahead and restore the backup but as I mentioned in my reply to perrhhh, make sure you chose the proper backup file. The Post-Restore backup file will be empty, look for a file that is maybe 20-30 minutes older than the last file you see.

QUOTE(azraeil @ Jan 29 2013, 03:57 PM) No, the jailbreak is probably for 6.1 so restore (yes, that's not a typo), restore your iPhone 4s to 6.1 and wait for the jailbreak to be released. 1. Download the Firmware http://iclarified.com/750/where-to-downloa...ware-files-from2. Press Shift + Restore and select the file you downloaded P/S: Backup the phone first before doing this. im using iphone4 maxis set. which one should i download? 6.1.0 (4 GSM): iPhone3,1_6.1_10B144_Restore.ipsw 6.1.0 (4): iPhone3,2_6.1_10B144_Restore.ipsw

QUOTE(azraeil @ Jan 29 2013, 05:19 PM) Musclenerd has twitted that iPhone on 6.1 via OTA updates may not be jailbreak able. So that's why. check the link I posted in the previous page. dude, u r totally wrong. u guys can still jailbreak even if u update using software updates but need to do full restore first using itunes when u want to jailbreak it.
