yo whaddup sc2 peeps! i'm thinking of starting a starcraft 2 team league between unis and colleges, much like the gstl, but in a much more simpler format of course. right now i'm looking for contacts of gaming clubs of unis and colleges.

this thread is just to discuss the possible prospective of this plan and maybe get more advice/ideas from the public. wat do u guys think?

i think u better find out if there is any sc2 players now in the uni and colly. Even if there is, most are too casual players to compete.

it can be done! but only if u can convince all those peeps at local IPTA's (not just IPTS) to join in as well...

umm.. i know taylor's got la. that's wat i'm trying to find out also, whether other colleges or unis got anot. i think it's a good start ma, bring out those "casual" players let them try tournament. i think they'll be more willing to compete as a TEAM with friends, don't u guys agree? no?

No can do, finding a proper job.. But if you are serious about doing this in such a big scale, you are going to need a rather substantial amount of dedicated people, money (this means sponsors), planning and time.. Publicity is another major necessity, as well as willing participants as you must remember that SC2 in Malaysia isn't as big as it is elsewhere around the world..

IPTA is government uni ler.. but imo a lot of SC2 players i know are IPTS (non-government, MMU, UTAR and stuff).. dont know anyone from IPTA

btw,most govt uni students did not join is due to port blocking by the network admin themselves...
only open certain ports (i.e. port 80,25,21,443) for internut access only...the rest? all block (including Steam as well)

I might have some friends in a few public universities around Malaysia, but I haven't kept in touch with them for quite some time already.. Can try UUM, UPM, UM, USM, UTM, UKM and since you're from Taylor's, maybe you can try contacting those from HELP?

i already contacted HELP. they don't have an e-sports club yet but they told me they're setting one up. so now i'm still waiting for their response.

i wanna try doing a small scale one first, maybe maximum of 8 universities? because i'm not a pro at doing these events so i'm afraid i might mess up if i do a big one. what do u guys think?

Try finding a community, so once you have the populace, the number of players and such won't be that hard to find anymore.. Through personal experience, I can tell you that public university students mostly are still stuck in the stone age of gaming and are still playing DotA.. So trying to convince them about StarCraft II will be a bit tough..

currently HELP is having the HGC so they told me they are busy. once their hgc over it's time to get things started xD
