Here are some info I found on the hybrid battery...
The battery pack and hybrid system requires NO maintenance until 100,000 miles, when an inverter coolant check (and refill if necessary) is recommended. And there is a telephone number on the Prius battery pack for you to call to claim a $200 bounty to return that battery for recycling when you junk the car at the end of its service life. That "toxic batteries in landfills" and "$10,000 to replace the battery" crap you hear from people who know nothing about the Prius is getting REALLY old. Is there a recycling plan in place for nickel-metal hydride batteries? Toyota has a comprehensive battery recycling program in place and has been recycling nickel-metal hydride batteries since the RAV4 Electric Vehicle was introduced in 1998. Every part of the battery, from the precious metals to the plastic, plates, steel case and the wiring, is recycled. To ensure that batteries come back to Toyota, each battery has a phone number on it to call for recycling information and dealers are paid a $200 "bounty" for each battery. |

QUOTE(vey99 @ May 14 2012, 12:19 PM) should have some value. i doubt ppl will let it go for free. Where did you get the info the Prius battery cost Rm20k?when you remove while the car is running, it wont stop beeping even after the car has stop. kind of forces you to only unbuckle once the car is stop. i would describe the seat as firm rather than hard. i feel it may be tiring for long drives/commutes esp the back row. as i know its the big brother Prius battery that is costing RM20K. the C has smaller battery so should be cheaper. however i dont think this is a general issue if not the ori prius would not sell so well until 4th gen liao. Its only USD2k+ and the SA told me its about RM8k here. |

QUOTE(vey99 @ May 19 2012, 10:17 AM) actually if u live in penang, u may not enjoy this car. too many traffic everywhere. u hardly get a chance to sit back and cruise for 5 mins at steady speed... My opinion is exactly the opposite. The car is awesome for jam traffic. You get total quietness & zero vibration in the cabin when the car is stop as the engine is also not running. Of course that is not going to help you in the fuel consumption dept but it is still more fuel economy than any other car out there. So whether you are in big city jam or cruising in your neighborhood, hybrid is still the most fuel economy car and on top of that you get total quietness & zero vibration in the cabin which no other car can compare(except those super luxury b&w or lexus). |

QUOTE(vey99 @ May 19 2012, 01:16 PM) its not silent most of the time in jam, cos after jam a bit u'd run out of battery and the enjin starts to run to charge the battery. That is true if you get stuck in really bad jam. But for stop and go traffic, it should not consume very much battery. Try not to use the EV mode too much as it will result in higher fuel consumption if the battery is low. The best way is to accelerate with ICE up to desire speed and then pulse with EV.however, its pretty silent most of the time, even at higher speeds you hear the wind noise and road noise more than anything else, if you switch off ur radio |

QUOTE(beck_ken @ May 24 2012, 03:42 PM) Ok just back from service centre: Getting my car next week. Will see if it has auto lock.1. The left rear sound is not from the spring, it the nuts at the seat loosen. They tighten it and put lubricant 2. As for petrol overflow, they checked thru all the hoses and petrol tank breather and they didn't discover anything unusual. They advice me to pump petrol slowly and see what happened cuz so far I'm the first who has this problem 3. This one u all care the most. Comfirmed by salesman, service advisor and those who went for training. The original Jap spec is without autolock, so does it apply to our big bro the Prius 1.8. If somebody claimed that they have autolock, mind to shoot a video and show to us? |

QUOTE(nick.tan1 @ May 24 2012, 11:52 PM) Bro, the turning radius affected just a lil bit. But the grip is marvellous. Cos with stock tyre, I feel like my car is flying off and always sway to left or right even I'm on 130kmh taking a curve. But wit this tyre, it solidly grip the tarmac and I can even hit 150 on corners. Further, tyre noise reduce drastically. Its illegal to change to HID base on new traffic law. Only HID from original manufacturer are allow on the vehicle. Mod HID will cause unnecessary glare to other traffic users and can be dangerous. Now I'm thinking to change hid to my headlamp. Any idea whether is it advisable? Cos dunno whether will it void the warranty of the main battery or other stuff |

QUOTE(nick.tan1 @ Jun 1 2012, 03:46 PM) Who's prius c white start no place start with "r" and 3 digit number today 3pm park at kl sentral car park? I saw u. Ahhahaha. Nothing wrong . It all depends on the battery charge level. If you battery charge level is high, Prius will try to use EV more than when your battery is at low level.Added on June 1, 2012, 3:55 pm Yea bro. That's the feeling. Cos when its new, even I took my feet of pedal it will straight go to ev. Now I need to take off and slightly touch on pedal again only can go to ev. Futher, before 1k service, even at 120kmh, I release the accelerator, it will go on ev. Now even on 80kmh, its difficult to go ev. Somebody must have check wit umw during their service. |

QUOTE(engah @ Jun 4 2012, 11:47 AM) Out of curiosity, I set the air cond temperature to 24. I still got 31.7km/l for a distance of 20km, only slightly poorer than my normal rate of 32-34km/l for my PJ - Shah Alam trip. Outside temperature was 29C this morning. Is Prius C meter showing km/Litre or Litre/100km? My Prius is showing Litre/100km. Or is there a place I can change it? |
