I have to make a correction about how to get to the info/about screens on the DVD-AVN

Arrow at bottom left of screen->tools->settings->map/system->info/about

So far I have only tried the malsingmap updates for my DVD-AVN unit, but if anyone has tried the malfreemaps one please let us know and links to the downloads and method of installing.

BTW - anybody in KK know where to find Meguiars products?
*
Malfree one just install the installer. Select the normal option then put the file into the SD card (need unlock the lock switch first) in the folder (where the UNL file located).

Running on Malfree latest version now. Search speed is a bit slow but working just fine.

Added on June 11, 2012, 3:08 pmI just install 3M Air Filter on my PC battery air intact to prevent duct build up.

Next stop is Original Emblem with LED light and All interior LED switch and entry light.

Added on June 11, 2012, 3:26 pmI think the only Aqua blue in town driving at the moment? Won't be getting the full set of TRD pack but will try fit a daylight LED If I can get it in Japan later.

Added on June 11, 2012, 3:36 pmFC is around 25 km/L (Morning) to 30.5 km/L (night with 50% on EV)

PC have 36 liter fuel tank, mean around RM70 per fuel up. the trip computer show around 1050km for tank.

The Technic to drive is very simple, don't hold back when acceleration (keep within ECO zone), When road is flat and reach 70-80 KM/h, drop the throttle and press a bit to keep the speed with EV only.

When using EV mode for low speed zone (<40 km/h) and for highway, cruise control all the way at speed limit.

If the ECO score is 80 most of the time, you will get roughly 30km/L.
The key is constant speed.

Turn off ECO mode for speedy pick up.

Don't go to N or B.

There is a code to toggle autolock function. (will share later once I try the combination)

For backseat seatbelt, unlock it with your key and keep it away from blocking.

Well, I just got the air filter (have to cut myself) and going to try install it over the weekend.

I have take a look at the air duct and fan, is not filtered, and being in the passenger zone mean it will suck in dust and hair.
Which mean it will accumulate in the fan blade (cylinder blade) and stop the air flow. which is critical to batt optimal temp (degrade EV run time and overheat charging)

Not sure anyone did this before but I saw lot of those desktop tower with lot of hole one...the fan get dusty quick. Don't want that happen to my PC.

If you mean the EV mode that you need to manual enter, yes, all transmission will be power by Motor and impose speed limit (the motor gear can only spin that fast before pulling over current). Not good for sudden acceleration as the power draw will be unstable and might damage to battery unit.

Trivial corner smile.gif

HSD system doesn't have a Engine powered reverse gear. is ALL power by the motor 1 & 2 !! mean the engine will start to power the Motor 1 to power the motor 2 to reverse the car smile.gif

This is due to much simple gear design for the HSD gear.

It seems that a lot of people are getting their cars. I booked early Apr but SA still cannot confirm when I can get my car  shakehead.gif
*
It depend on the color and how early you book. I know some people who book it just right after Xmas and they are the first one to get their car.

Black and white color seem to be easier to get too. Aqua Blue is the best selling color for Japan for this car so is hard to come by.

Been before... No worry can drive thru.. Haha

How high? Ankle higher a bit
Cannot if not the oil will stick at the layer of the paint
Need to polish and wax it

Can somebody told me where can I get the filter for DIY to protect hybrid battery?
*
Filter I made myself lol...just like how i make for my Desktop. Just a normal dust filter.
I didn't take out the fan part. Just stuck it at the opening hole there.

Just got OBD check on PC. The autolock function is disable by default, presumably by Toyota Asia decision.
Will try get the latest diagnose software for Prius C to enable the function back.

I think the decision is not to autolock to prevent people stuck in car when Accident happen.

QUOTE(Salamander @ Jun 14 2012, 03:24 PM)
That's weird because the prius c in US has ability to enable/disable autolock, wonder why they allowed that then (in the US if they complained).
I agree it should at least be an option given. When I think about it though, no matter what the situation, if a car gets it's door smashed it's not like whether it's locked or unlocked will make much difference, they'll break the glass or cut through alot of the times. I suppose there is also times when locked doors pose high dangers like what you said above, so much better to be safe than sorry. Still, I want that option tongue.gif
I'm getting used to the no autolock anyway because my hand automagically locks the door lol, it's a practice that is highly embedded into my brain. I am still trying to get used to remembering to fold the mirrors before turning the car off, and then when it's off I press the side mirror button again so it will automatically unfold when I turn it back on (thanks to the person who suggested this many posts back!).

Does anyone have a definite answer about the car alarm being audible? I'd like to test mine but not sure how to go about it. I thought in the manual it says there's a button you can press on the fob to activate it?

Which malfreemap is compatible with the DVD-AVN (I haven't gotten an answer about this yet). The page is at:
http://www.garmin.com.sg/mapupdate/
*
Just go to Malfree and download the Garmin normal (not 205) installer. Once done, you should get a supp.img file. Put that in the SD card. Go to Map and uncheck the Malsing POI and check Malfree POI.

The auto lock feature is build in. It just get turn off in the in car computer. If you have access to the car software Toyota (mine is old version), you can just turn it on. Is a market driven decision, we don't get land keeping assist and Auto park option like the one in US too.

Alarm and reverse sensor is install local in Malaysia. Yes. It work. Just try lock yourself in the car. Wait 30 sec, and move your hand. The motion sensor will kick in and alarm will sound for 5 min.

Didn't any of your guy read the manual? Is written there...
There is no button to press to deactivate the alarm, just get the key close to the power and start the car. Alarm will stop.
The Alarm will also keep record log in car computer where you can view from service center when it trigger and what the reason.

If you get the DVD-AVN unit, you getting a 40w Panasonic OEM Asia unit. I trying to flash the software to G-Book version but I can't find the required model number (if anyone know please share).

The DVD-AVN unit in Japan will show the HSD information when driving and is better looking in 6" rather than the 3.5" screen.

For Otto cycle engine like PC, compression is high, mean 0W20 of coz the most suitable for the car. I try to find that for my 1st service.
There should be any problem with PC taking any type of oil. in other country, they fill PC with RON92 also and mineral with no issue.

However, due to the engine often operated in low temp during kick off, my personal thought to to get a semi/full one to protect the engine during cool run.
I find that the heater pipe doesn't run enough long to proper warm up thge engine before it kick it start every morning. My battery is normal in 2 bar when I reach back home so I guess the battery can't run the heat pipe long enuff to proper warm up the engine.

If your EV most of the time >50%, you can even try service every 15k if pull on semi.

I call up UMW Malaysia last time and they say only selected SC is qualify in servicing Prius type.
I call again today and they say any service center will do service now.
And I found out that the SC at Sungai Buloh have just went for training last 2 week. Don't want my PC get to be the demo car for service guide.

Any suggestion?

I did mine at Sg Buloh SC last month since I bought from the branch and they gave me RM30 voucher. I think all SC's are the same. They only do the basic things, change of gasket, lub oil and oil filter, unless you have specific complaints related to the Hybrid system. For the rest of items, they probably just tick, tick, tick.....
*
Call up Toyota UMW and they suggest me go to Puchong one as there is less people.

Anyone can confirm the Front & Back Tire Pressure (PSI) needed for PC?

I found out the current tire pressure is 46 PSI, seem too high.
*
The std PSI is written at the side of the door. First car for you?

I believe is around 33-36 PSI.
However, I pump to 42-43 PSI at the moment to save fuel. Will try other combination see whether which combo suit ur style better. The PC mostly carry 1-2 person most of the time. I will try 46 PSI on next fuel up to see any saving.

Just remember don't overpump your tyre sidewall limit can d...I believe is 49-50PSI range?

This is not my first car. Yes, normally you can see the std PSI note at the side of the door. But I can't find on my PC. Mind to take a picture to show me?

I will prefer to pump as the standard to prevent unstable in high speed & have even tire wear out.

Now I still not see any of Aqua Blue & Blue Metallic PC other then mine. Seem these 2 colours still rare on the road.  biggrin.gif
*
Lol, I saw a Blue Metallic a while ago? Ya, that color is very very rare smile.gif Will choose Metallic if wasn't a Aqua blue choice available.

Let me snap and upload it later.

Lately have been pushing the PC so FC drop.
I manage to get 26-30 km/l while I concern about FC. Don't look at the Eco score, look at the Fuel consumption meter. Accel as fast as you can (FC ~ 10km/L) then release the throttle and maintain the FC meter (around 30km/L) the speed with maintain. When the FC hit 40 km/L the speed will slow down very fast so try maintain between 30~40 km/L range.

Speed ranging from 60-80km/h to hit 30-40 km/L range, 90 or above will drop to 20-30 km/L range.

Yet to try max speed, hit 145km/h on highway when overtaking thou.
I think PC is japan made, so should have the 155 km/h limiter installed.

Hill assist is mean to turn on for 1 second only, so your car won't slide down when you change your leg from brake to throttle. Is not mean to replace Hand brake la...

To turn on Hill Assist, just press the brake harder until you heard the beep and the light come up.

went to tesco today to see the motor oil... found out only produa mineral oil is 10w-30 actually... full syntetic oil is 5w-40... semi is 10-40... which one is better actually?
*
I try to get 0w-20 or 5w-20 and organize a bulk buy later this year after my car pass the 10k mark.

Here is the official response for UMW side:

We wish to informed that the Toyota Prius C can be used the following engine oil:

- 0W-20 - This oil mainly used by countries with 4 season that in cold weather and it is not supplier by Toyota currently.

- 10W-30 - This oil can be used and suitable for our Malaysian climate. The 10W represents the temperature difference and does not affect the viscosity of the oil as such it should not effect the performance of the vehicle.

The 0W portion of the oil viscosity rating indicates the characteristic of the oil which allows cold startability. Oils with lower value before the W allow for easier starting of the engine in cold weather.

The 20 in 0W-20 indicates the oil viscosity when the oil is at its operating temperature. An oil with a higher viscosity may be better suited if the vehicle is operated at high speeds, or under extreme load conditions. For more information, kindly refer to the Toyota Owner's Manual - Engine Oil Selection.

In the meantime, please feel free to contact us if you require any further enquiry/assistance.

------------

We doesn't need 0W as our weather don't go down below 0'C so 10W should be working fine for us.
However, lower oil viscosity during operating time (20) is better for Prius type of hybrid (Honda insight using 0W-20, so does Lexus CT200h) as is thinner and protect the engine at cool start (which Hybrid car needed most)

Let see how the price different between TGMO oil (Mineral 10W-30 is Rm75) and outside vendor.

I've checked mine after read your problem, luckily it's full bar signal even on rural route going up Cameron Highlands. Fed up with the GPS bcos many routes not included and WRONG..!, then I checked and realize mine is an older software year 2010 version. I heard some got theirs with "2012 version".  It's not fair.. getting from UMW a new 2012 car and paying RM2990/= for a DVD-AVN with an old 2010 GPS software.  Even the shop selling RM500/= Garmin GPS comes with the latest "2012 version and also free for life update. Ours need to pay UMW if we wanna update and yet now they give us an old version software. Everyone with the DVD-AVN older GPS version should complain,  what about yours..?
*
Update yourself la. All UMW unit come with Malsing 2010 map.
I update mine to latest Malfree Map 2012 one.

Just take out the SD card and copy the supp.img to the map folder and go to the GPS unit deselect the Malsing one and select Malfree map.

----

Wah, 20km take 30min? You driving at 50km/h? No wonder FC so good XD

Mine currently stable at 26-28 km/L after fine tuning my driving style. Hitting 110km/h at highway and constant >80km/h on normal road. Try crazy hypemilling to get 30-35km/h but feel like kereta lembu...

The key is actually the tyre pressure and FC meter (the 5min interval meter) and guess what...turn off the ECO mode.

Just note on the FC meter and see whether you car engine is revving unnecessary and slow down the throttle.
Tyre pressure am now at 40/38 (will go to 39/37 next fuel up) and FC improve a lot.

uphill i can easily pawned cars like Insight, Vios, City and Wira, Waja during Cameron uphill....

now my Eco Mode I can train till it become a demon. I don't use normal mode cuz i know how fierceful i trained it become..so normal mode on when I am battle with Waja, Persona, and other car more than 1.5
*
demon wah rclxub.gif

Later they battle u with Proton Inspira with Skyline engine and do the longkang trick when you come down from Cameron later.

PC is very powerful....when it fully charge up with battery power...until the battery need to sip the power from engine to charge up. But is more than enough for overtake and accel.

*
Try the acceleration when battery is at least 4 bar full....the motor won't combine output when battery is low.
When combine output, the motor torque + engine torque should give u the power u need.

Hybrid is getting more and more popular in Malaysia... Some people still not convinced by how good hybrid can safe fuel. The time will come, trust me...

I wonder how the automaker will try to push the EV car here.. Even proton are trying to have that.. With the mentality of scare of battery problems, I think EV car will definitely fail in Malaysia when many of Malaysian thinking battery exchange is expensive lar, no power lar... blah blah...

Mind you that EV is fully on battery, hybrid is mix and I believe if battery got problem, hybrid car should be able to work as normal gasoline car.. For EV.... bye bye.. For the time being, I see the hybrid still have an edge over all the cars in term of fuel savings. Enjoy the low expenses on your car fuel and also enjoy the bigger gain from travel claims from your company (If you have 1).... tongue.gif
*
Nope. Honda IMA can still run when battery got problem. Toyota HSD can't even start when Battery no power. Because motor 1 & 2 is key to the accel and engine start up by design.
