wow salamander envy u bro. Finally u got ur car d.. ^^. Now patiently waiting for my blue metalic. TT
Thank you
The problem is that Monday night I couldn't sleep at all, and I drank a ton of coffee and did not sleep at all. Got the car around 4pm, drove around like a nut, then around midnight go around some more. Then this morning I drove around from 6-10am. I have to wash all the dust that got on my car because it also rained and some roads were dusty.

QUOTE(gfwong @ May 29 2012, 11:34 PM)
I received the sms last evening. I booked mine early Apr but just received confirmation sms yesterday. I called up my SA this morning and was told that UMW knows that Prius C is overbooked. In order not to let us feel "unattended" (which might lead to cancellation), UMW sent this sms to "drag" us longer. However, my SA speculates that UMW might consider to give other freebies so that we stay on the line. Llast time, the big Prius had the same thing too. Dunno if my SA tipu me or not...
*
That seems quite plausible (about the dragging thing) because I don't think they would have followed up unless we asked. Only until we bother them they might feed you a bit of info to keep us patient for a little bit longer. I think with this demand they're going to have to add some extra flowery stuff to the mix to keep the customers happy.

QUOTE(RFire @ May 29 2012, 11:53 PM)
Hi all, please check the undercarriage if any metal components were rusted prior accepting the car.
*
I don't get it, how come our Prius C got the same rusty crap? Mine was on two areas, the exhaust part and that other bit shown in the pics. It seems to only be rusty on the lower part.

Also, anyone has demanded the SA to get the car polished and waxed prior delivery? The paint surface of Prius C seems rough.
*
To be fairly honest, I got my car in a lil bit of a fricken dirty state (at least not what I'd expect from a new car).

QUOTE(mkhor7 @ May 30 2012, 01:52 AM)
thumbup.gif  Congratulations that the exciting PriusC is yours now!  rclxms.gif

The thingy under my front passenger seat is the jack to change tyre.  My small towing eyelet is in the toolbag kept in the boot.
There is just a small space under the driver's seat to squeeze in a compact sub-woofer.
My driver seat back has no pocket, only the passenger seat back has the pocket.

Can your doors autolock?
*
Yeah they just left the towing eyelet on the front passenger carpet, no idea why. I think the passenger seat on mine only has the backpocket too. In the cargo where the spare tyre is kept there is no big foam bits like in the US version (I guess cos their spare tyre is small).
And for the most important thing I have been wondering lately, I got no damn autolock sad.gif cry.gif

QUOTE(chrymnd @ May 30 2012, 09:27 AM)
Yup . I'm booked mine around may. You booked on march and get on may will be reasonable as i think. Because i'm went to the opening ceremony and get all the details and unable to confirm to my salesman because of budget control with some comment like (go for cRZ, insight, prius ). After that, i'm had decided to booked the prius c at last minute which i'm told you on may. So that will be my fault that cause in long waiting period.  sad.gif  sad.gif  sad.gif . im chosen white colour. 082. ( Popular)
But from the first shipment already require 3 months waiting list as i knew. so your one will be reasonable.

May i know how is the fuel efficiency ? can achieve the european cycle like 25.6km/l around KK?
*
Here are some pictures of what I've done so far since I got the car yesterday, it seems like 1 bar on the fuel gauge seemed to be around 100km thereabouts or at least it felt like it (you can easily get 25.6km/L around KK) Max speed for my pulses was around 75kph (or at least I tried not to go above that):

I drove towards Sepangar, Papar, KKIA, Lintas, Likas, Coastal highway, I passed 1Borneo, drove towards Tambunan, around Donggongon/Penampang, Luyang. I couldn't stop driving it sweat.gif
Also some bastards on the road always kept riding up my butt or trying to hit my car cos they weren't looking. Many also from parking or just trying to cut into me. I'm not sure but this never happened to me in any other cars I drove, just this one. Some damn old lady in Foh Sang just kept reversing towards my car and I *swear* she was looking at my car as she backed her car towards mine. I wanted to beep my horn but then I was reminded of road runner and how deaf aunties are to those so I managed to just slip past her cos there was a car in front of me and I couldn't move much. I also think it's the same bad aunty driver I've encountered before in that place.
All in all I am very satisfied with this car and what I have gotten out of it so far. I am going to see if I can bring it to Kundasang. I chickened out further down the road to Tambunan because the road got really dirty hehe so I turned back. I'm surprised it didn't really take much effort to get the mileage I did. I didn't pay attention most of the time but I think the highest I saw at one point was 30.2km/L
I should also mention my tires are 42front 40 back (actually maybe 39 or 40).
The chairs are really comfy (for me anyway). Seriously, I drove for a few hours and still felt ok, I just miss a proper armrest for my left arm.
I noticed that whatever I put in my glovebox got cold, it's almost like a fridge effect in there lol, I think that's because the air filter for the aircon is also right behind it.
One thing I should also mention is at the beginning when I accelerate in EV mode I could get it until maybe around 58-60'ish kph depending on the road. In the beginning it felt like there was more feedback in the pedal however over time it felt like I wasn't getting much power from EV like I was when I first used the car. I'm not sure if it's because I was getting used to it or what but it doesn't feel as responsive in acceleration as when I first drove it. Maybe my imagination. That's all for now, I need a nap shocking.gif

PriusC got this mode?

where can i find it?
*
When you go into settings, then choose screen (it's the 2nd option from top), then somewhere there will be one for your scores and you can choose between monthly or personal. One thing I am uncertain of is whether it still logs both but only displays one at a time. I'll find out soon. (Update: yes it seems to still track both regardless of which one you choose to display, that's awesome).
Oh and those 2011 dates from the pictures was because when I got the car Toyota did not set the date and time, no biggie but I would've like it setup proper, feels like they rushed it, especially with the slightly dirty condition the car was in when I received it.

QUOTE(astronomer_me @ May 30 2012, 11:44 PM)
Me too, i received the sms yesterday. When did you book your car? Mine was in the middle of march, and after receiving the sms, I'm worried if the booking has just been made recently and not back in march. Queue was cut perhaps?  cry.gif
*
I had mine booked on the 5th of March.

How do all of you find the radio reception? I found mine unclear at times (slight static) on certain stations (and this was in my city area, kk), maybe needs finetuning. Will get back to you guys. I'm going to search for mats & seat covers next. I think need to get a custom seat cover made - when I got the car there was this flimsy white seat cover material and also a plastic one for the driver seat, I think I can bring it to someone to also measure that one because it seems to fit ok (I should make spares in case a pet comes in), but then I will also get them to measure the seat itself for a proper fit.

When I got my car I also got some free gifts - umbrella x2, mini hand held battery operated orange looking fan thing x2 (maybe can be mega eco and use this instead of aircon haha jk), whiteboard notebook x2 (very useful for me hehe, so forgetful)

When I call my SA I will tell them about the solar film warranty they forgot to go over with me (both the UMW copy and customer copy is still with me and not filled out), and also the rust at the bottom (or perhaps I will also bring it to the attention when I go to my first service).

Quite frankly I never looked to see if people were staring at my car (I only noticed one guy looked out his window when I was driving on my way before I hit the dirt road to Tambunan and I did a sharp U-turn) because in the periphery of my vision I would halfway look at the eco score and car speed, else I had my eyes on the road like a hawk. When I drove through the rain I did notice the mileage did drop a little bit. Speaking of water, I had my key in my pockets and I was rinsing the car with my hose and when the water went over the front door handles it kept trying to lock and unlock the car door o_O I guess it's making the two strips contact. It had no problem when I was driving it through rain, and that problem only showed up when I was spraying water on it with a hose. Anyone else encounter this? I guess it makes sense since your hand/thumb acts to bridge the two points I suppose. Maybe that is disabled when the car is moving so if there is a big splash it won't happen.

Wow..! Thanks for providing valuable informations. The prius c's performance perform well in what my imagination based on the pictures given and hit the point which i like prius c the most in the first place. It's indicate to me that fuel efficiency will be my first priority for owning this car. What i'm worried at first because KK road are quite short and small which cannot achieve the european cycle . By the way, it show that it is possible to get the result as you had mentioned.
Now just waiting my baby prius to come.
*
I found that our short little roads in KK (likas, luyang, damai, kk city - these kind of short road places) give me higher mileage cos I EV more for the stop&go. For longer stretches of roads like coastal highway -> 1Borneo -> Sepangar I need to glide/coast but firstly I need to get to the higher pulse speed first and try to maintain as long as I can with momentum or EV help. I find EV won't kick in if you are going above certain speeds (and of course when battery needs charging). I am really happy with this car, I find it takes corners quite ok (ok so I wasn't taking the corners like a madman, but I meant in general terms), but I think some people may miss the feedback from the steering wheel which is not present (I don't mind). It is a mostly smooth ride (but I'm sure you know why, our kk roads aren't that spectacular lol). There is one really smooth road after 1Borneo I think, quite smooth and seems to be newly paved, but around there depending on when you go some of the roads can get dusty and the other day there was strong wind it blew all the leaves and dust from the road upwards into mini tornado gusts hehe. Watch out for all the roadkill too, on Wedneday morning I counted at least 5 or so dead dogs & cats.

On the DVD-AVN there is an option to have it mark out your journey (it seems to display it persistantly, so I'm not sure if it is consistently updating since the beginning of turning it on because I see the same route from before) and I have basically made a "circuit route" around kk to rack up my mileage. I sometimes just drive randomly on whichever long stretches of roads I can find, then go to housing areas for a little bit of stop&go fun. In my eyes this is an ideal car for kk, minus the fact we can't go offroad tongue.gif but for getting around kk itself it's great. I really need to bring it to coating soon but I'm just having a little bit too much fun driving it around. Another thing I like is that it's such a small car (compared to the others I have) that washing is a jiffy.

I have a question for those that got the Toyota tinting (ecotint I think it was?). Anyway, this morning when I was driving I noticed since the aircon was at a colder temp than outside, the windows started fogging up, and I saw marks on the ugly fogged up window, they looked like foggy smears is the best I can describe it, and at the bottom right of the windshield i saw numbers like it was written on their with fingers. Also, how come there is like dirty water stains on the *inside* of my windshield? I'm guessing it was the tinting people. I will try take pictures of this the next time it happens because this time I actually didn't bring my camera so I didn't manage to take pics of it (and no, I don't have a nice cellphone to do that either, it's an old Nokia Classic 1680 lol). These smears look really bad.

No idea, haven't broken it in yet but I hear there may be a limiter at around 108mph/174kph (I can't confirm this). One guy on another forum has already reached that speed (from the US).

Yeah I remember seeing the concept version, was way diff including the interior. I didn't really mind the headlights up there, though it felt a little weird. I like the way it is now hehe.

@chrymnd
Drove to Karambunai and got about 26/27km/L on the way and 28.2km/L coming back.

I have found a long perfectly straight 5 inch scratch on my car, no idea how it got there, wasn't there when I looked this morning but I saw it before i went out. Will need to go for the coating asap. Also noticed one on my rear bumper, maybe from a rock, but hard to tell how it even got there. Even though it was barely a surface scratch, the scratch in my heart is deep deep doh.gif
I had no trouble with this car and kept up with the traffic flow fine and also some overtaking. Can't wait to drive it up to Kundasang.

Bro, anyone after 1st k service encounter this? After my 1st k service 2 days back, I feel that my ev mode less functioning. Before that, everytime I let go pedal even half pedal I can see the ev signal on. But now I need to let go the pedal all and accelerate abit again only I can see the ev is on. Which means much more slower.  Anyone encounter this?

This car, when it goes really fast, the fuel consumption is totally different already.
Were you on eco mode? I think I kinda of noticed the same thing, but I do know that if I take foot off accelerator and then slightly on it will be EV mode, I think at the beginning when I got the car it switched to EV mode when it past the threshold EV threshold without having to let go of the accelerator fully, don't notice it doing that now. I feel like my EV is lacking the accelerating speed it did when I first used it (when I accelerate even at the slightest touch now it seems to really spike the speed on the EV eco score zone but the car doesn't move as fast on batts like it was before), or maybe I'm just getting too used to the speeds in this car everything passing by just seems like someone can run beside my car lol (when I'm driving at 60-70kph it feels like 30kph).

Ok I think I got the answer for why my Apacer USB card reader *might* not have worked with the DVD-AVN - in the manual it states that "Devices connected through a USB hub will not work using the unit". Time for me to get a usb thingy.

Yea bro. That's the feeling. Cos when its new, even I took my feet of pedal it will straight go to ev. Now I need to take off and slightly touch on pedal again only can go to ev. Futher, before 1k service, even at 120kmh, I release the accelerator, it will go on ev. Now even on 80kmh, its difficult to go ev. Somebody must have check wit umw during their service.
But previously even 3 bars also always use ev. But now it seems like required min 4 bars.
When lifting your foot fully off the pedal, EV mode is established, there are times when it won't kick in for example at certain speeds, certain charge, and whether or not the engine is too hot/cold. I still don't know why it doesn't kick in at full charge like it used to when I decelerate into the EV zone (note: not taking foot immediately off pedal to switch off gas motor to engage EV mode) on the ECO score like it used to. I guess maybe there is something I'm not looking at but I just thought it was odd. In any case I am a little bit more perplexed about why the car feels weaker/slower at its standstill starts in EV mode from when I first used it. The only way I can describe it is that the feedback from the pedal feels like a slight touch spikes the EV acceleration on the ECO score display, but the car itself the accel is "loose" or not as responsive as I felt it was when I got it initially, it feels as if even if I carefully manipulate it to the top end of the EV mark it feels like the car is accelerating from the quarter mark (note: I also have good foot control, so I don't know where this spiking is coming from. When I mean spiking I mean it will sharply go up really high then down like someone stomping their foot on the pedal, not like a controlled acceleration). I'm sure it's not my imagination but I will monitor this behaviour some more and bring it up to SC on my first service.

Prius C tyre noise is pretty "loud and clear", especially in EV mode, this is the one of two dissatisfaction so far.
*
Oh I hear that tyre noise, but instead of thinking it as an annoying sound I pretend my Prius C is a spaceship and make the annoying sound together with it. vUuVvuvUvvVUvvUVVUVVV cool.gif like some kind of futuristic thing hahaha

QUOTE(mkhor7 @ Jun 1 2012, 08:20 PM)
Made sure during service to ask for the correct 0-20W engine oil.  But most likely local SC only have the usual thicker 0-30W type for our hot climates.
Using this "wrong" thicker type, it is reported that our PriusC fuel economy figure would drop over 10%! cry.gif
*
Should I use mineral oil for the first 10k and then go synthetic? Or just stick to 0-20W the whole way through for all services?

Prius C is April best selling hybrid car in Malaysia.  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

http://www.motortrader.com.my/Cars/NewsHea...s-in-April.aspx
*
I think as more people find out about it and looking at the performance our fellow drivers are getting it will probably sell even more. Coming from someone who never thought of even getting a hybrid or even considered it, they did well to pull someone like even me in. Heck I was even anti hatchback at one stage hehe. When I heard that there was a new Prius I was like meh, until I looked at specs, pricing, looked at the car itself, and drove it. I was a changed man after that hahaha. Previously I was driving quite conservatively, I didn't realise I had already practiced pulse&glide this whole time, I thought it was a newer weird concept because of how it sounded, but subconciously I had already started doing that with my older cars. The difference is that driving the Prius C has totally fine-tuned this behaviour even further, especially when one can see *exactly* the mileage/speed and other indicators like when the EV or gas engine kicks in. Also coming from a gamer perspective this damn car has hooked me in - I always want to beat the last "score" or the best score I have achieved. With all the other hybrid aspects aside, I really love the way the car itself looks, I probably would've gotten it even if it wasn't a hybrid lol. One thing I am also not used to is the fact that I have no problems parking with this car, I go tend to go in so deep there's so much space at the back of the parking that people probably think there isn't a car there hahaha (I'm sure we've all seen this exact thing but with kancil/myvi). I guess I'm just used to longer cars filling the whole space. I am still trying to get used to the clearance space at the sides and front, I am trying to mentally mark out the distances via windshield wipers - like for instance on my right side when the white road lines hit a certain spot on the wiper I know I am a certain distance away lol (I should probably take a pic of what I mean).

On the other hand, even if this car doesn't end up selling well I still wouldn't care because I would be one of the few who have it biggrin.gif and I know it's a worthy car!

Note: About the door unlocking & locking repeatedly while washing the car door handle, it is actually addressed in the manual. It states to put the key at least 2m away from the vehicle in order for this not to happen.

Bro salamandar, perhaps u may check wit ur sa and service centre and see anything wrong with it about the ev issue.

U r funny la to do that sound. I will go and do up the sound isolation stuff for my tyre soon wit dynomat or something in accessories shop. But not too soon cos recently spend quite a sum for cars d. Summore my old car also jealous and break down, just send old car for service. So this car modification will temporary stop first. Hahaha
*
Hahaha I know what you mean, I am kind of desperate for coating and floor tray/mats & seat covers. My old car is also 'sick'. I read somewhere that some guy put some kind of sound dampening material under is floor mat/carpet (he layered it) and it helped to deaden the sound coming from tyre noise/outside. I am definitely going to check the SC about EV problem but I'm still unsure whether it's a problem or my imagination (maybe my mind is going too fast that everything seems slow haha). It's probably nothing but I will check it out with them just to make sure.

Added on June 2, 2012, 6:59 amHm, I had a burned dvd full of my mp3's and literally only *1* avi file in there and the damn DVD-AVN chose to play only that single avi file instead of the music.. Is there any way to get it to play the mp3's instead of just that one divx? I tried but didn't know if it can be toggled to choose audio instead of video. Or maybe it just doesn't like mixed media on one disc so it will default to just one over the other.

Ok, nevermind. In the manual it states:
QUOTE
When DivX/AVI data and MP3/WMA data are contained together on a CD, DivX/AVI data cannot be played back (only the MP3/WMA data can be played back
QUOTE
When DivX/AVI data and MP3/WMA data are contained together on a DVD, only the DivX/AVI can be played back (MP3/WMA data cannot be played back

I find that pretty silly..

Maybe they meant 30 sold/booked but haven't gotten their car yet, I'm unsure what they meant. I am in K.Kinabalu by the way.

I also found some dried caked out dirt/sand in my driver side door tweeter. I guess whoever did the tinting or pdi or whatever must've been in some kind of lumpur/rain cos I found that dirty water/dried up sand in quite a few places. Make sure you guys check all that when you get the car and bising them (even the display for aircon was smudged). I have to vacuum all that particles and wipe the dirt from windows (err, be careful if you even try to vacuum near speakers lol you might burst the cone).

Just got my Super Red PC yesterday... Drove it around town and am very satisfied with it... Haha...

Should organise some gathering... Should be fun, doesn't have to be too pricey...

Yeah, totally man... Haha, saves a lot... Btw, when you press the break pedal, there's this kinda jet engine kinda sound coming from the front... Not too loud, but still audible... Is that normal?

Oh you must be referring to the regenerative braking. The regen braking engages in a certain range before the actual normal brakes kick in. I am actually used to this regen braking instead of normal car brakes lol, nice smooth braking action for me. If that is the sound you are referring to then yes it is normal. Just pretend your car is a small quiet plane coming in for landing tongue.gif

i dun get it... i cannot get > 22km/L on hiway cruising at 90
now also in city driving, light footed, slow accel, also cannot > 22km/L on one tank as average.

This is somewhat what is happening to me, I had excellent fc for the first 2 bars on the fuel gauge, after that it went down really quickly and I feel as if there has been a loss of overall power. I'm not sure what is going on, maybe cos of the full tank initially (on my other cars there is some behaviour like this, during full tank it has oomph and then as the tank nears half it's not as peppy)? Then again when I got the car which wasn't even half a tank it was performing the same way as it did during the first 2 bars of full tank. Now I find getting my mileage even harder than before. No matter how light footed I am the fuel goes down quick even with as much EV as I try. I wonder if anyone besides us has experienced this and know what's happening.. hmm.gif
