Guys what is the waiting list for Prius C red now?

Btw is it advisable to get this car if my salary is RM 4K? Live with my parents so no rental commitment. I figure 9 years loan would cost me RM1k/month. Probably need to top up if i sell the car but doesn't really matter.. I'm 22 so my salary has a lot of room to grow.

So i guess my question is... how expensive is the maintenance vs normal car like vios or city? I travel 60-80km to work everyday so fuel saving will be significant.

Depending how much you spend on fuel, the saving might not be much. However, lowering a re-occuring cost does make a difference for me at least.

Previously I drove to work everyday, daily toll charges that I paid is RM 6.40 minimum depending on which route that I take. Every week I would spend minimum RM 50 for the fuel to go to work.

Then early last year I bought a bike, RM 20k cash. The best investment I made, now I only need to refuel RM 18 for every 6 working days. So for a 5 working days a week, I reduced my weekly expenses from RM 82 to just RM 15.

Not only that, now I can also leave home the latest at 7.40 am to clock in before 8am compared to leaving home by 6.50 am previously when I drove to work. I also don't to worry much about excessive accelerating and braking since the fuel consumption above is already with high acceleration and braking.

What I hate about the Prius C:
1. The fact that it got dented within 1 week of ownership due to a stone.
2. The shitty sound quality from the DVD-AVN head unit.
3. The really loud sound of air at speed over 150kmh.
4. I can't spell destination in the GPS while moving.
5. The low grip tyre that comes with the car, thinking of Yokohama S Drive as replacement.

Hey you all, didn't you read the news. The tax exemption for Hybrid car extend to Dec 2013.

By the way, how is the audio system quality for Prius C? Is that so bad like others described...

Bad, i.e. shallow and lack of dynamics.

Prius C is millions speed. There is no steps, the transmission is fully variable.

Don't think vios and city under power when climb up to genting, , may be the car handling make you feel under power , because every corner you have to brake hard and accerelate again smile.gif
that's why many peoples upgrade to low spring, adjustable suspension, sports tyre, strut bar and anti roll bar smile.gif
but prius c handling is totally different, and can say is the best among vios, yaris, altis , prius 1.8 and camry, almost same handling with Suzuki Swift rclxms.gif but high speed more stable than swift, thanks to toyota more firm but still comfortable suspension+aerodynamics+room bar(under seat battery protector)+wider body, if we change to michelin ps3 195/55/15, handling even better icon_rolleyes.gif
In terms of power, yes, PC is better than vios and city, after drive for 3500km , the car more powerful and the pickup totally different , can't imagine after 10,000km service , how's the power and FC  rclxms.gif

Cornering and high speed are still better on the Swift. Prius C is more comfortable but body roll is minimal. In term of cornering, Swift is still ahead by quite a margin.

I wish the PC has a stronger electric motor. Accelerating within the EV limit is too slow compared to other normal cars. The best way to save energy is at a traffic light for example, when the light turns red, you press the brake and the regenerative braking capture the energy and store it in the battery. While stationary the car does not use any fuel. Then when the light turns green, the captured energy during braking is used back to accelerate the car using EV mode. This way, it is almost as if the light did not turn red at all for you. Now if the motor is stronger, you can accelerate like a normal car without using a single drop of fuel.

PC is stable at 160kmh but the wind noise around the side mirrors is bloody loud above 120 kmh. I think need to do some mod, maybe 3 aero strips like on Gen2 or Preve.

Bro, even race car sure also will have loud wind sound unless you driving Volvo/Mercedes which have very good sound proof. The drag wind sound may also indicate your spoiler down force is working.

Myself not really feel a thing while driving in 120-140km/h, for my ex-SAGA BLM, you will feel scared when reaching 140km/h, cause the car start to loss it stability.

So wind sound you can ignore, but please don't ever ignore when you loss stability while you are speeding.

Wind noise on Prius C is one of the worst that I've encounter. Even Swift, Vios and even Saga FLX doesn't sound as loud in term of wind noise. The culprit is around the side mirrors. Close to the ears.

This is what I did to save fuel during my daily ride:
I drive normally when the traffic is normal. Upon approaching places where the traffic is normally crawling, as early as possible I would slightly press the brake pedal to charge the battery. In the crawling traffic I would drive gently to stay in EV mode.

The key is to charge the battery as high as possible before approaching a crawling traffic. You can charge the battery quicker by slighly pressing the brake earlier or by accelerating between the eco mark and the power mark.

Even 80kmh is already very dangerous if you hit a brick wall. The problem is not the speed but the condition, aeroplanes travel at a much faster speed but not all of them come crashing down to earth.

I'm not saying that people should speed but speeding alone is not that bad. On the Autobahn in Germany, 150-160kmh is the normal speed people drive there. Doing above 180 kmh is like people driving above 130kmh here.
