QUOTE(Az prevay @ Apr 23 2012, 09:43 PM)
hv u guys read this ?? quite nice review
I managed to test-drive a CFE Preve last Saturday, and here is my opinion:

Exterior:
Looks better in real life. This is maybe because in real life, you are looking at an angle downwards to the car, as opposed to the pictures where you were looking upwards. Some people can say that Proton should have made the car attractive from all angles, but as a Honda fan, I am forced to swallow my pride and say, objectively, that the FD Civic looks flat from the side also, and the rear lights look like a cheap abomination from Altezza.

The Audi-like LED, when viewed during the dusk, is like wow. It makes the silhouette of the car looks menacing enough for people to double-guess and just make way: for a Proton to overtake.

Interior:
The dashboard's design, surprisingly, is not bad also. I can understand the direction: some people like bubbles, Angeline Jolie likes knife.

Colour choice: I've seen worse in Evos, but everybody loves Evos. Just because everybody loves the engine doesn't make the seats less sh*tty.
Seat's headrest reminds me of CRX EG2, which is my favourite. Seat is almost as firm like an BMW E92: which I don't personally prefer: if it's a family car, a 'balik kampung' ride, I want my cushion as thick and slack as performance can allow. Japanese Yakuza-sytle thick or British royal-syle thick, not Scandinavian or German minimalist sh*t. I didn't ask for chrome trims or undercarriage neons. I just appreciate my spine.

But when I stepped out of the car, my head hit the upper door frame. What the f**k. My old EG6 is small but I never hit the door frame ever. Probably the seat height: tall, but the cushion is not thick. So what makes it tall then?

Ride & handling:
Ride is good: you can sit in a BMW F10 and your butt won't be able to tell the difference. Believe me: go sit in a BMW F10, and then find a pothole.

Handling is where this car shines. The car is high, yes, but the handling is still good for such a high car. The only way that this car can get into an accident, like in the viral photo, is that the SA forgot to downshift (maybe he's on the 7th gear hohoho).

Performance:
Performance from standstill is similar to what other people say: sluggish. You need to rev until 2,000rpm before you feel the difference. When the turbo kicks in, hmmm... not bad. I used the S mode, but I feel like the S mode is more suitable for say: auto-cruise touge? Sometimes it holds rev too long. Personally I like to use the paddle shift more: makes me able to choose... when I'm excited. When I'm lazy, S mode or D mode is enough.

Verdict:
A car enthusiast wants a fairly powerful car. If it doesn't have the horsepower, it must have torque. This car has the torque.

A married car enthusiast however, who also happens to works in KL, wants a fairly powerful car that is not a manual, otherwise you go through MRR2 traffic often enough and your knee will become cacat: love your kepala lutut fellas. And, not the traditional auto either. He wants a tiptronic so that he can be Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde when he chooses. And his wife can become Mrs. Jekyll when sending the kids to the nursery.

So what turbo torquey tiptronic family car can you buy in the market? Colt? Not a sedan. Legacy? RM50k more... for a used unit. Evo GTA? A bit harsh for the children.

That leaves you with... Preve?

Brand sentiment? We are mature enough to overcome that, don't we?

Very well written I must say! Intelligent man.. rclxms.gif

My current car, Persona is black. Whenever it is dirty or a rainy season, I will feel regret not taking silver. But right after washing and detailing, Ill be really thankful I didnt take other colours. hehe

Make CFE MT and tune the CVT just like Bold CFE. Proton, you will make A LOT of people happy and get a lot of bookings!

CVT or MT brah? Review on the drive please. If you can, compare it with any of the current cars running with IAFM power wise.

I am really curious about the IAFM+ CVT since according to Proton's official figures, has the lowest FC among the three variants

review more likely base as a family sedan car.
handling not much different from cfe. minus the leather steering and traction control. Today driving not aggresive. all below 100kmh "sayang kete maaa". Mainly drive in D mode. Try the S mode but not much different. RPM increase around 600. but still can only feel accelerate when RPM hit 3500.

Overall satisfied with the car. The engine is enough for a family sedan.

Do you really feel the difference of power between CFE and IAFM? No IAFM test drive units, so cannot really compare..

The prices sound right. Mitsu 4AT in the Persona close to 20K. The torque converter another 4.8K

Well yeah the intercooler is located at the left front wheel there. you buka bonnet can see something resembles a mini radiator there. and the fan spinning feature is there even in the normal campro cars(Saga, persona etc) if i'm not mistaken as well.
*
Yup, in the Persona as well. I got used to it after a while

its used to cool down the engine after it is shut down to preserve the engine if not mistaken. I think the water pump is still operating when the fan is operating. correct me if i'm wrong smile.gif
*
Nope. Water pump is belt driven. So if engine off, water pump also stops. The fan is spinning to cool the coolant in the radiator. I recalled reading Drex's post saying that the turbo unit in CFE is cooled by a seperate electric pump. Maybe that is why the CFE fan is spinning a bit more than the other Campros

So the battery will not be drain even the fan spinning for a minute or two? ...
*
We wait for mat79 to log in. Hahaha. For my Persona, I think only 30secs max after engine shutdown. Not all the time though, only after a hard drive or long distance drive. I'm still using the stock Proton Ramcar DIN45 going into my third year

yup.. plus component is not that expensive i think this days. if just add tweeter even more cheaper....

no idea what is a side defroster do...
*
To clear the side windows from mist. The slots right before the windscreen on the dashboard blows to the windscreen while the side slots blow to the side windows. The back windows has the electric demister.

Cooling needs to be switched off if you switch the aircon to demist the windows. I've never used it personally though. Use aircon all the time.

My loan already approved by hong leong bank..but still waiting for maybank..% still on the same rate...
Shud i wait for maybank? Or juz proceed with hong leong? Which bank is better?
I dont hv any experience since this is my 1st time...

If same rate, then choose which one gives you more convenience. For me Maybank since my salary and credit cards all using Maybank, easier to pay via M2U.
