QUOTE(Nightstalker1993 @ Apr 27 2012, 09:43 PM) its used to cool down the engine after it is shut down to preserve the engine if not mistaken. I think the water pump is still operating when the fan is operating. correct me if i'm wrong I m not sure why it's designed as such. I don't see jap car like this. Jap car also very long life. I don't see the purpose anyway. Water pump still operating? Is the water pump running on electric? If it's not running on electric, then i m sure water pump cannot run without the engine running. Am i making any sense here? |

If your water pump is electric, then it makes some sense. If water pump runs on pulley connected to engine, then fan running after engine shut off will be useless. So, persona, saga, preve all electric water pump ? Owner pls hv a look at your engine bay. I m interested to know. thanks.
Added on April 28, 2012, 3:07 amFrom simple google search for persona water pump, i see that it has a pulley that needs the engine to be running to circulate the water from engine to radiator n vice versa. I assumed it's the same for preve. So, why on earth is the fan running after turning off the engine? It still doesn't make sense to me at all. Fan running to cool the radiator, but no water circulation. Heat transfer by conduction will be much slower in this process without water circulation. Any photo to share?
I think it's for the turbo only right? It's not the engine water pump. Engine water pump runs with the engine, no electric pump. This post has been edited by ahsam1212: Apr 28 2012, 03:27 AM |
