someone recommended me the HD661 was wondering if it was comfortable? And whats it's SQ equivalent to bigger brands? also i read that the hd661 has comfort issues is this true? if so i might get a hd668b or the samson sr-850(hope dont mind me add other brand here)
any recommendations? Something with good sound quality and comfort! Or any place out there i can try them all on?
planning to get new headphones on Feb

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Just got my Superlux 668b XD how could anyone ever call this headphone uncomfortable! Made a DIY cable for it as well already loving it. I notice some grainyness when it reaches really high is it sound clipping? Because im using FLAC.

QUOTE(Skidd Chung @ Mar 24 2013, 11:52 PM) Either with EQ or with mod. I think head-fi forums got some mods available to soften the highs. couldnt find a real fix for it. the pads are expensive because they were meant for more expensive headphones the 668b jsut so happens to have the same fit, and if you think those are expensive you should look at the thread for the previous velour pads which were original and you'll cry tears of blood at how much it cost. Today I did something funny, I just came out of the bath and was drying my hair, so with the towel covering my ears i decided to put on my recabled superlux 668b...and than...it happened...
Everything became more tame but the bass was still there! The harsh highs were now gone and the mids still came out nice, though just a slightly recessed but still enjoyable. I need to find a way to mod it this way it seriously feels about 175% than stock.
Also a lot more comfortable xDDD

QUOTE(penmarker @ May 8 2013, 11:21 AM) Some people like multiple out because they want to hear different signatures for different songs. Also useful for burning in. But um, does the different outputs have different volume controls or one master control to rule them all? each headphone output has its own individual volume knob so you don't have to fight for volume control hahaha, I want audit it T.T

Hey guys if you decide to get the Superlux 668b and have a spare grado/alessandro around swap the cables the 668b does really well with the grado/alessandro cables.

QUOTE(KSinY @ Jul 3 2013, 12:42 AM) I quite like HD668B. the reviews are not bad but not really portable since its semi-open and sound will leak out or sound will leak in, or you meant as portable = easy to bring from place to place? HD668B = bring from place to place sit down and listen at home or friend house HD661 = listening while walking around in shopping mall,LRT, etc. This post has been edited by siles1991: Jul 3 2013, 01:23 AM

QUOTE(KSinY @ Jul 3 2013, 01:34 AM) Ya my meaning of portable is place to place, walk around i'll just use earbuds xD what if i'm in a noisy room? semi open will affect it? yeah quite you'll be forced to use higher volume not good for your ears
