This is a new safety feature that exceeds NCAP rating of 5. Proton has extended the crumple zone to the front wheels. See how it slides below and undervthe driver and front passenger when it hits a curb or pothole. It will also crumple under the engine in a head on collision to enlarge the crumple zone. Let's just hope potholes will not cause the wheel to hit the driver going over small potholes or speed bumps :-)
