Added on August 30, 2012, 11:41 pmWow.thanks owikh for adding me into the first page. Air cooling. Trying to reach 4.5now with lower vcore but seems like no luck. Will update further.

Ps just realize my nick is on the first page.thanks bro

105C your CPU speed should be throttled down so does the temp.
throttled down = fail OC

thanks for the reply i just did what the website tell to do

any extra info should i know when running prime 95?
*
Open RealTemp
Execute Task Manager > Performance tab
Launch Prime95 27.7
Choose custom, min FFT 128k, mem to use (see task manager for available mem)
Start stressing
Monitor the max temp make sure it doesn't exceed 105C (TJmax) - speed will go down (throttled) if TJmax is hit to protect the CPU from overheating
Stress it for 3 hours +
Don't stop priming & open CPU-Z
Take screenshot including Prime95 + CPU-Z + Task Manager + RealTemp

lol but is the temp ok? my cooling is raystorm and quad 140x4 black ice sr1 blink.gif

Nice try. But you didn't use the latest Prime95 27.7 posted in Post#1
This 27.7 comes with AVX instruction for more stressful torture > more accurate
Besides that, win7 SP1 is mandatory

so i should retest with the latest prime95?
*

It's up to you bro but it is recommended since your PC might get random crash later.
Since earlier version of Prime95 didn't stress enough your chip hence your PC is just partially stable.

QUOTE(Exeunt @ Aug 31 2012, 09:15 AM)
yep..all latest one

my available memory is 642. so its not utilize all the memory. its ok right?

thanks for the guide owikh84 in advance rclxms.gif
*

642MB?? Are you using just 1GB RAM?
Look at Task Manager for Physical Mem on the bottom right as long as at least 90% is stressed you should be fine.

Nice summary you have there bro. Can see that prime is able to detect instability faster where linx is for temp testing. For ur info, I manage to pass 8 hrs prime for 3570k 4.5ghz @ 1.310v. Run at 1.305,one of the core throttle down n gives error in prime. Should I stress it again on 1.305?
*

i think better let it be at 1.31v

yea Z77 is a totally different story. The UEFi is finally very good to great. Z68 didn't use UEFI and thus now they have to provide UEFI. X79 was a first shot at UEFI, but now Z77 is UEFI how it should be.

hello.. i got BSOD here.. now 3570k overclocked 4.2ghz and offset -0.12 volt.. tested it.. prime95 run passed 12 hours... then i close the primed95 stop everything.. then got this error system_service_exception and some memory management stuff??? help..

The third time i got some code usb error something like that. -.-
*
system_service_exception = vCore related
memory management = vdimm/VCCSA/VCCIO/RAM timing related

Are you using Prime95 27.7 for the 12 hours?
I think your mobo/BIOS sets the idle vCore way too low that's why you got insufficient volts while idling.
You will have to either increase the vCore or choose a different LLC level so that idle vCore is not too low.
Perhaps a BIOS update would help.

ok now what i have to do? increase vcore?
why suddenly have ram problem? hahah funny
*

maybe you didn't stress >90% amount of mem with custom blend? No screenshot of prime95 27.7 run? I saw 26.x only hmm.gif
Letting BIOS set everything (mem timing/subs) is like that, it will auto set on every reboot depending on how good is your BIOS.
In this case, Asus BIOS is awesome for auto timing/subs. biggrin.gif

this is my 2nd 100 runs of LinX and double confirm it stable at 1.216v
2nd run with ram OCed to 1600MHz

Good chip my 3570K needed 1.3v+ for the same speed. sad.gif

QUOTE(codenamew @ Sep 3 2012, 08:32 AM)
wow.thats good. 4.5@1.216. mine need 1.32V to stable at 4.5Ghz. using p8z77m mobo. just wondering whether mobo will cause the proc to need higher Vcore to stable
*

Different mobo different vCore.
Learnt from my experience during Bloomfield days, in which EVGA X58 Classified needed less vCore than Asus Rampage III Extreme.

I've been using AMD system since forever. so for my next upgrade, I'm gonna grab a i5 3470 and p8z77-m.

I don't plan to overclock a lot, but whenever I mention "I plan to overclock abit", ppl keep flooding me with i5 3570K recommendation.

I read that it is still possible to overclock this setup without touching the vcore. Like changing the multiplier (maximum 4 bumps up?) But I still have 0 idea what is going on... like what's gonna happen to the turbo mode if I do able to increase the multiplier from 32 to 36?

seriously, I jsut want to bump a bit multiplier, not even think of increasing the bclk.
*
QUOTE
It isn't fully unlocked, meaning the max overclock is only 4-bins above the max turbo frequencies.

4 bins over turbo of x36 is x40, so it can do x40
if your mobo allows the multiplier to x40, then yes, it can be OCed up to 4.0GHz or above with BCLK clocking.
P8Z77-M supports up to x59

So, to say non-K cannot OC is wrong
