Bro davidke20 is (in reality) praising Saga like no one has ever done arnd here!!
In his own peculiar (seemingly negative only) way!!
Dun take the meaning juz on face value but stop to think a lil bit "twisted" kinda way...rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

...Yea...buying a car also depends on luck sometimes...but if the odds of getting a problematic car is high...i would rather spend more to have a car with less risk.
Although i would like to believe that plotong car now getting better and have better odds than before.  hmm.gif

hmm...dont understand no.4?
But about no.8 ...If they give lifetime warranty because the quality very good is better than lifetime warranty because the quality soo poor.....id rather not going back and forth to fix the power window.

*
Yup, buying ANY locally assembled car below RM200k wld hv yu depending on YOUR luck!!
Juz browse arnd as many car forums & use Google...yu'd b surprised at the no. of faults (even serious ones) of the many makes/models of cars yu hv been led 2believe are "good/reliable"??? tongue.gif

NB. Dun 4get those ppl paid abt DOUBLE or more wat we pay for a Saga!! rclxm9.gif

No 4? The plastic engine cover has been deemed not a necessity. So it's more of a beautifying & "dust collecting" item.
Cld hv been put there 2play a minor role in protecting Saga's COP sys? Was only put in BLMs & FLs.

Power windows probs were NOT that widespread as "fanned" by Proton bashers.
My ole Proton had NO probs for 20+ yrs!! thumbup.gif

ps. One pays min RM10k less than Proton's nearest rival. So small inconveniences are tolerable & acceptable...not that every Proton car has them!
Eg My (new) FL is 1yr old now...& (touch wood!), me am happy with it!!

sry guys, i think my question out of topic  icon_question.gif

read newspaper saying tesco selling shell helix full syn (thickness # duno) engine oil 4L RM139 worth ma?
need pro advice  notworthy.gif

dun shoot me shakehead.gif
*
It's Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 FS.

Last time offer was RM149. Now ONLY RM139. So even cheaper... brows.gif
Chk Date of Mfr cos shelf life of EO = 5 years!!

Me used 2pour in Mobil 1 5W50 in ole Saga fr new till sold off. Really protects engine...minimal engine wear & tear with still great compression @time of sale ie 200k+Km later...!!

Now in early 2011 & earlier, BLM & FL were also supposed to be using 20W50 (same as ole Saga).
However, later User Manual amendment changed it to be 10W40. whistling.gif

Now FLX supposedly recommended to use SAE30.... doh.gif

Frankly, really dunno what Proton is up to....flip flop? sweat.gif rclxub.gif

Cap is SEALED.... nod.gif
AND every bottle is printed with Date of Manufacture of oil....which our local ones do NOT! thumbup.gif

Did yr bro say why....??

ALL EO complying with Proton recommendations of SAE & API conditions ARE SUITABLE!!
There is a whole list of suitable ones... tongue.gif

Pls chk Proton User Manual info. smile.gif

Bro, are yu removing the CORRECT part?
NOT the one on the actual door... doh.gif

Remove the "strip" on the "outline"/edge of door opening...
Shld b a simple matter of pulling it off...cos it's juz pushed onto edge of door frame.
Not glued or attached by other materials! tongue.gif

Good luck DIY-ing!!

he already cut.. so yes. at each end, he cut half of it, so should be able to fit under the cover. zeone said can be done without opening the plastic cover.
*
Yup, Bros...Not need 2remove/open any other part of door area!! thumbup.gif
Dun follow those pics, pleez....

To remove old ori : after pulling out ori part short distance fr end, juz pull out the end that is inserted into plastic cover.
Only a short length is inserted into those plastic covers.

To install OEM : Like oledi kno, Seller oledi cut both the "D" hollow parts of both ends.
Juz start install by inserting one end into plastic cover ie reverse of Removal process.
Then push in bit by bit onto door edge.
Finally insert other cut end into plastic cover at other door side.

IMPORTANT: Ensure the seal is pushed onto door edges so as to fit deep & well onto edges. Esp AT CORNERS/Curved parts!!
Go slow, ok?

NB. OEM seal might be a bit longer. Use other seal strips/ori as template to cut off & reshape end to fit.

Sincerely my explanation above wld save yu guys some headache.
Best wishes & Good luck!

ps. After doing 1 strip, yu'll find the other 3 pcs "kacang" liao!! smile.gif

DIY successful, very easy, but need to cut a bit coz it is slightly longer.
now less noise from passing vehicles. closing doors sound more solid.
one thing i note, my flx door is tighter than dares flx se. dares can easily close the doors even after installed the door rubber compared to mine..

we'll wait what dares feels inside his car coz his car also installed door soundproof

btw: it's yamin not yasmin  tongue.gif
*
Happy 2hear of successful & easy DIY!!
And good initial impressions... rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

Re door locks can be re-adjusted for either tighter/easier closing... tongue.gif

Sincerely hope Bro dares got back his confidence in DIY-ing now...
And other Bros wld be motivated 2attempt more DIY projects! brows.gif brows.gif
