You are the once-trusted bodyguard of the beloved Empress. Framed for her murder, you become an infamous assassin, known only by the disturbing mask that has become your calling card. In a time of uncertainty, when the city is being besieged by plague and ruled by an oppressive government armed with neo-industrial technologies, dark forces conspire to bestow upon you abilities beyond those of any common man -- but at what cost? i think this will be awesome.
- steampunk & magic = arcanum, thief - kill people = assassin's creed - run, jump on roof top = mirrors edge - conspiracy = deus ex - mythic ability slow down time to a crawl or move really fast (every thing slows down or time stops if one move too fast) = matrix ???
hell...it remind me of bioshock technology + AC...+ Deus EX...except...U CAN STOP TIME!! OMGGGG....btw AC also can jump roof top wat..oh wait..mirror edge is FPS style jumping..okay..
Bethesda today announced that Dishonored, the supernatural assassin action game under development at Arkane Studios, will be released in North America on 9th October and 12th October throughout Europe.
"We are pleased that Dishonored has captured people’s attention," said Vlatko Andonov, president of Bethesda Softworks. "We are looking forward to sharing lots more information about the game leading up to its launch in October, and having a hands-on build of Dishonored in our booth at E3!"
Dishonored is in development for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Also some vidya guy who knows french translated these dev QnA's
QUOTE
Alright, i have some good news for you guys.
Here is what I saw from a dev on a famous french forum
"There is no real "mana regen", only the top of the bar, and with that quantity all you can do is one "Blink". Blink is the only obligatory power and the levels have been designed for Blink. Also, whats could confuse you in the latest videos is that the potions "auto-drinking" is activated so it sort of gives the impression that the Mana auto regens. This option can of course be desactivated.
- The player needs to spend runes (runes he needs to find before) to buy powers… There're actives powers (that have to be "equipped" on the left arm and that cost mana if you use it) and passive powers (always actives from the moment you buy them). Each power has 2 levels et each level costs some runes. It is impossible to buy all the lvl2 powers through the game.
- The "Wall Hack" is the Dark Vison power, and as it's an active power that uses Mana, it's difficult to use it to excess.
- There's no "random passive powers". The only random magic effects are whale bones charms (generally highly hidden in the maps). Each these attributes gives a lil passive bonus (see the bone charms announced for US pre-orders), and you can activate a limited number of charms at the same time.
- Yes, the PC version will have better textures, adjustable FOV, an uncapped framerate, the possibility to turn off every UI element, and an interface based on customizable hotkeys."

I think this is a much more detailed commentary gameplay for E3, this 14 minutes long video shows you how to collect runes and it's pretty much the same like E3 demo but you'll get more tips.
Oh yeah, updated the release date.

Is the stealth really good or it's just there? I know that there's a Chaos mode thing that affects your gameplay/ending if you go full out killing people without stealth.

The stealth is on par with DE:HR although there are some wonky places at times.
Chaos score raises if you kill too many people IRREGARDLESS of stealth.
Meaning that if you kill the same amount of people with guns and grenades as compared to slitting their throats, you'll still get the same Chaos score.
Which is a god damn shame because half the fun of the game is to try out various ways to kill the guards.
I find that aiming for the "Killing No One"" achievement is boring since you are suddenly limited to only your Sleep Darts.

Ah I see. So basically they gave alot of cool gadgets for kills but you're somewhat punished for killing people? I guess you gotta choke people out more often and hide their bodies
just curious, can i buy from GMG and still run it on Steam or have it in my Steam Library?
In fact if you look at the requirement part of getting the game, GMG will mention that it requires steam. How it works is that they will email you the CD-key and you will redeem it via steam directly, after that it will use the steam downloader to download your game.

Walao, so many games to play,so little time...if 1 day have 48 hours maybe can lol..
if got 48 hours mayb u have to study or work double time too. moreover u have to sleep after around 18hours awake... tot about that before, best is 1 week 4 days weekend
shiok. gameplay a bit like thief, can't wait to continue after work...
It's actually more like Bioshock than Thief. Anyways, my dislikes:
1) Some of the levels I felt were too linear, despite being marketed as an open world game. 2) The controls feel a bit too restrictive, I want to be able to choose what I equip on my LMB/RMB. I don't like having my blade on my LMB all the time while I switch between ranged weapons/spells/items on my RMB. I want to be able to wield a spell in one hand and a crossbow on another. 3) Silent protagonist. Not my cup of tea. I would prefer if Korvo had a voice. A good example would be Thief 3, where the protagonist would always have something funny and witty to say 4) Chaos system. This is where the game fell short for me. For the uninitiated, if you kill people, you get chaos. And the more chaos you have, the more likely you will get the bad ending. This is kinda disappointing, for a game that gives you so much freedom in terms of methods to kill people, you are reduced to using sleep darts and stealth just to get the good ending.

hey its the same for adam jensen too! those arm blades are not for trimming hedges!

Ya, you get so many cool perks and an impressive arsenal just for killing people in the most creative way you can think of, then they hit you in the face and say you can't get the best ending if you kill people
I'd rather if they did it like Bioshock 2, kill or spare only important NPCs. Then I can play however I want, but still get the ending I want. But the current system is just too much of a gamechanger that it gimps your playstyle.

I rather they just change the Chaos rating into how many people detected your acts rather than how many people you killed.
That way, you can still kill people while having a low Chaos score.
Because seriously, they won't know what they didn't see.

Lol I'm kinda upset. In the early mission I had an optional objective to protect someone. So I sedated him with a Sleep dart. (He was snoring!)... Yet when I finished the mission, they said he was dead. Wtf! lol..

I'm assuming the mission where you had to poison the High Overseer?
You need to carry the sedated man to a specified area in order to clear that objective.

if is mission of killing the high overseer and sparing a general then yea after you use sleeping dart or chock him. you need to bring to a safe location which is also on the way to your exit.
Added on October 14, 2012, 4:53 amfeels satisfying now after a hard earned stealth gameplay on the first run now second run go all out killing xD

never thought could finished it this fast, under 18 hours already can.
What? But I haven't finished the game
EDIT: After playing this game for around 10 hours, I still don't understand why this game is getting such rave reviews
More dislikes:
- Very short campaign - Repetitive environments - Being forced to play stealthily throughout the game for the sake of a good ending (god, this NPC annoys the heck out of me, I would love to fire an arrow between his eyes but I can't because I will get the bad ending) - Poor stealth mechanics (doors opened, missing patrols will not alert guards). Distractions (throwing objects in the distance will instead give guards supernatural detection and give away your position). Can't dim out light sources, nor hide in the shadows
I missed Thief

Uh oh.
My "Kill everything on the level quietly." tactic wasn't such a bright idea now I guess LOL.
Well the game is a bit dissapointing for me after waiting so longbwith all the hype.damn i really miss thief series.oh well hopefully hitman will be better
Don't really see what's the hype in this game, finished it ( High Chaotic, played stealthly for first few missions but damn boring ) i dont know why the emphasis on stealth kill but aggresive kill animations and creative kills really rocks. Now I really can't wait for Hitman, Dishonored doesn't live up to it's hype for me
Cons - . Cannot replay previous missions with all your hard earn items. Like REALLY?!?! Save up so much in the beginning in the hope of getting all the items and replay them but NOoooo you cannot . Hit detection abit off in this game. . Enemy AI abit buggy. Sometimes they can see through walls eventhough you're behind cover . Campaign too short.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
After the 3 dudes betray you, they kinda rush the ending, should have atleast split those 3 guys into 3 different seperate missions instead of putting them in 1
. Not enough frontal face mask view
Pros - . Creative kills . Awesome paranormal powers . Eerie / creepy environment and music suits . Ze MASK

this is quite retarded actually. why make a game for player to kill in so many ways but punish them for that? anyway, if i ter-buy this game in any sales, i wont be bother bout the good ending, it can be watched in utube

there are many achievements that need to play stealth. need to practise a lot for that.
finished the game in 1 day. play in high chaos. gonna play it again on stealth mode. The ending quite lame. And the runes a bit hard to find. sad
The game can be a bit wonky at times. A lot of times when you are given a choice to either kill or spare important NPCs, the NPC will go nuts even if you plan to spare them.
NPC: The key is on this table. You can either kill me or spare me. I leave that choice to you. Me: *decides to spare him, sheathes weapon and takes key* NPC: I AM INIGO MONTOYA! YOU KILLED MY FATHER! PREPARE TO DIE! Me:
The game tried a bit too hard to deliver Bioshock 2 endings but kinda failed.

Finish Dishonored, already? Completed a non-lethal playthrough, too? Congrats on being a true supernatural assassin! We recommend you continue honing your skills in preparation for the game’s upcoming game add-on content, Dunwall City Trials.
Dunwall City Trials will arrive simultaneously on PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360. Details on this add-on, as well as future plans, are outlined below:
Dishonored: Dunwall City Trials, being released in December for $4.99 (or 400 Microsoft Points), will include 10 challenge maps that will test and track your combat, stealth and mobility skills. Ten distinct trials await challengers – including an arena battle against waves of enemy AI, a gravity-defying run of drop assassinations, and a race against the clock. Dunwall City Trials also features a whole new set of achievements and trophies as well as a global online leaderboard that will establish the greatest assassins for each challenge.
The second and third add-ons for Dishonored will be coming in 2013 and will each feature story-driven campaigns. Pricing on these two packs will be revealed closer to launch.
Daud, the leader of a group of supernatural assassins known as ‘The Whalers’, will be the focus of the second add-on pack, scheduled for release in early Spring 2013. Make your way through new Dunwall locales and discover Daud’s own set of weapons, powers and gadgets in this story-driven campaign. How you play and the choices you make will impact the final outcome…
Additional story details on the third add-on pack will be revealed closer to its launch next year.
GMG ran out of keys already. But they still hasnt sorted out the serial code with region problem so you wouldnt be able to download anyway unless you use vpn.
Finished Dishonored last night. Got the good ending for low chaos. Mostly because I just knocked people out using chokehold instead of killing them. Also, I neutralized most of the "boss" targets without killing them.
Not me but it's basically just a new level in The Void that let's you 'test yer madd skillz' playing this game. Nothing to do with the story whatsoever
now going to try Hard, with the bad ending. but one question: if I would prefer to play stealth in all missions, but choose lethal endings for each of the bosses would I still get the bad ending?

i dun think so. if u kill targets only i think still low chaos.
My only beef with this game is that bodies annoying disappears due to a limit set into the game that will appear on-screen at one every single level and enemies suddenly appearing out of thin air at certain checkpoint. Considering this is a 2012 game not even Deus Ex: HR have such console-limitation nonsense.

on every missions I make sure I hide the bodies but at the end the result was 1 or 2 dead bodies.
oooo. well, make sure u place them properly.
knocked out enemies will die if - they fall from roof while hit with sleeping dart - left on floor with swarms of rats nearby - roll down staircase will kill them also
weepers are still human and considered a kill
if the no kills and no see ticked and all the numbers are zero then should be no kill and no seen liao but i still no get clean hands and ghost arghhhhhh rage. need find time play again. now i everyday xcoming haha.
this gotta be the first "assassination" game that let us to win the game without killing anyone, well except for some dogs, fishes and monster plants.

Those that have played Dishonored vividly can recall the actions of Daud – the legendary assassin that puts the game’s plot into motion. Beginning April 16th, you’ll return to this fateful moment and play the role of Daud in the story-driven add-on, The Knife of Dunwall.
Features of the new DLC include:
New Powers, Weapons and Gadgets – The mark of the Outsider empowers you with unique supernatural abilities. Call upon the Whalers to assist in combat with ‘Summon Assassin’, track down hidden Runes and Bone Charms with ‘Void Gaze’ and learn to use new variations to powers, including ‘Blink’. To aid in your dangerous exploits your customized arsenal of weapons and gadgets will include Chokedust to daze your enemies, whale oil powered Stun Mines to shock your targets, and a concealed Wristbow to launch sleep darts and explosive bolts.
Explore More of Dunwall –Make your way through the Legal District and infiltrate the Rothwild Slaughterhouse, a steaming factory filled with colossal whale carcasses and their hulking butchers. Revisit the decaying Flooded District, the location of Daud’s hidden base, first seen in the original game. Return to the scenes of key events in Dishonored with a new perspective, including the fateful moment that sets off Corvo’s journey.
Choose Your Path – On your search for answers, approach each mission with your own style. Your redemption – or your turn towards darkness – depends on your skills and the decisions you make. Discover the mystery behind Delilah in this stand-alone chapter, and then conclude Daud’s story in the upcoming final add-on, The Brigmore Witches.
The Knife of Dunwall will be available on April 16th on PlayStation 3 and Steam ($9.99), as well as on Xbox 360 for 800 Microsoft points. Stay tuned for new information on the content.
just finished the game for one month.. enjoyed a lot with this game! at first I wasn't so keen with this game but I ended up loving it! but I am a chaos maker, trying to play it again with different play style and minimum kills

Been reading few pages back and seems like some of you guys got it for below 30USD with through GMG. Guess this 50% isnt a lot
haha yeah i am one of those who got it for usd 28.80 from the gamers gate pricing error bundle. well it is kinda worth it if you like these kind of games.
though fps stealth can be quite easy with the use of super natural powers. my first play through i did not acquire any super natural powers as i wanted the "no super natural powers" achievement.
anyone played the knife of dunwall? the first mission was great, the next two felt like abit meh. it was obvious the re-used locations from the stock game. Also the ending is a continuation leading to the final DLC, Brigmore witches

Dishonored‘s last DLC, the Knife of Dunwall, followed the story of Daud, the assassin who went all stabbity-stab-stab in the wake of ruthlessly slaughtering the Empress. Look, everyone mourns in their own way, right? In this case, it looks like the fella will be receiving some sort of closure soon—Bethesda today unveiled two new pieces artwork for the next DLC, The Brigmore Witches, ahead of the release of more information tomorrow.
The first murk-tinged concept art was tweeted by the Dishonored Twitter account with the caption “Daud’s journey concludes, more details tomorrow.” I’m not sure, but it looks as though that lady is standing in the remains of what was once a sweet gaming den. Art #2, tweeted by Bethblog, looks even creepier, with the assassin staring intently at a boarded-up house his vantage point in a graveyard. Speculate away; your PC Gamer news team will be standing by for the release of information tomorrow.
If you missed Dishonored or any of its amazing content, we’re happy to announce that we will release Dishonored Game of the Year Edition in North America on Tuesday, October 8th.
