the ESC blinks nicely during my test drive...


with my frens balls almost at his throat when i throw the car around the U-turn under the taman megah LDP underpass

the SA took sometime to get out from the car and when he did, his legs were shaking

he did not expect me to throw the car round that corner where i usually did with my hatch....


he is fine with me diving in and out of corners around penchala link (with ESC off, in the wet, almost midnight) but he did not expected the U-Turn thingy...

come taman sea and test... u get the LDP track and penchala link track...

fark COsE la....
no proper corners.... except for sweeping and junctions

tu la basher... nak kereta murah, nak minyak murah, tapi gaji dia pun tak sampai tahap kena income tax...

the engine sound is quite refined actually for a proton but it still can be better
(just wonders those bashers knows what is refinement or not? )

i drove all the way in manual mode... there is still something that proton can improve on... but in the end it is still heavily limited by the choice of powertrain + drivetrain combo....

the reason why alot of people think it is underpowered or "no power" is because they are not used to CVT smoothness in progressing up the speedometer range... and of course with the "turbo", they expected chair sticking acceleration...

they dont know what is the meaning of accelerating effortlessly/comfortably....


for me, i would prefer to have a proper ratio gearbox (be it auto or manual) instead of this CVT.. but the manufacturer knows better behind this combo

dews..... DSZ did apologise before (if i remember correctly) for the rubbish put out before his time and he promise to put out better product and he did fulfill his promise with this preve...

yes... there is some resonating but not as obvious as what u see in the video because taking a video like this will have alot of other noise inside...

sorry forgot to check under the hood for soundproofing material...




the resonating i suspect could be due to the whirring of the CVT or because the engine is still very new when it was driven this hard... <-- strictly my opinion...

actually, technically, it is wrong to assume that...

its the calibration of the ECU that controls how much/how fast the throttle body open according to the throttle pedal position....
in preve case, proton is very conservative with this.... hence the lag/delay in power kicking in <-- which again alot of people dont understand this concept

some cars are programmed to have such delay... not sure why but this delay somehow will make u feel that the power delivery is more linear and more comfortable as opposed to touchy response...

so the challenge is to find the correct balance for each individual car and the manufactures has their own guideline on this...

after all there is 7 billion people on this planet and u cannot satisfy everyone

if DSZ leave proton... seriously everyone can just give up buying proton


the quality level that he has brought up so far will go back to those waja days...
i dont see the new owner is interested in bringing proton forward...

i personally think he is more interested in the high-tech tanjung malim plant (like it or not, this plant is world class but sadly under utilised) where he can change the production line to assemble VW and sell it with super high profit margin... all this without the need to build a new plant...

the torque is between 2k-4k rpm la.....

i was outside the torque range most of the time i was test driving...
