QUOTE(ken7908 @ May 13 2012, 12:25 AM)
I just done driving a Camry 2.0g from klang to kuchai lama both ways via npe. All I can comment would be Camry is much sluggish compared with k5, handling is totally disastrous if cruising more than 70KM/h over curvy or corners over the npe stretch.

Noise level is pretty similar with k5, maybe a little lesser due to the 16" rim. Perhaps the passenger would feel a bit more comfort, but for me the driver feels a bit more jumpy over the uneven road.

One thing I really surprised is the FC, it was showing average of 12.1km/liter which close to 8.3liter/100km!  That I would say wow. Other than that, it was a poor driving experience compared with k5. Imho, accord 2.0 would also best Camry anytime.
I tested the FC on the Optima on highway drives a number of times. At 110kmph the instant FC is 9.1L/100km while at 160kmph, its 10.2L/100km. So it actually makes more economic sense to drive at 160kmph as the FC difference is only about 1 liter every 100km. So if ure driving from KL to Ipoh, driving at 160kmph would only consume RM3.50 more compared to driving at 110kmph but ull reach faster thus your extra 'expenditure' is nullified.

but u use more fuel building up to that speed, and with that also, more frequent brake and accelerate to accommodate the traffic condition...in all, many parameters involved..
As with all underpowered cars, u should never floor the pedal to build up speed. Always do it gradually. And there are ways to drive on the highway where you can maintain a high speed and reduce hard braking and acceleration. Always drive while predicting traffic in front. But generally, im refering to travelling under normal traffic conditions not heavy flows.

I try to accelerate from 120km/h until 160km/h using gear 6 but cannot le dono why ? like not power only. Wander you all have same exp?
I dont quite understand you. If ure going for fast acceleration, no way ure using gear 6. In fact, the ratio for the 6th gear is so small that the slightest depression of the fuel pedal will cause the transmission to downshift.

Got my car few days ago. Update on FC....
Drove from Melaka to JB...total distance 190 km...average speed 100-110 km/h with ECO mode most of the time. Consumed 14.74L of Ron95 (7.75L per 100 km), not bad.
Yes thats wuite good. Keep updating us.

i was using manual shift gear, I'm not sure y but i press hard already but not moving any more faster after 145km/h
Cannot be. Even in manual model, the car automatically upshifts when u reach the required RPM so your speed can constantly increase. Hope its not some major problem ure facing. shocking.gif

Why does the service manual still state the warranty as 3 years? Where is the 5 years unlimited mileage stated?

Bro, may I know what bank is that? HLB offered me 2.46%, 2.4% is damn low  hmm.gif
I think the standard is 2.42%. Even if u get 2.40%, the difference is negligible.

oh, 2.42% is good already. May i know which bank bro? because salesman quoted me average 2.5% so i decided to survey 1st and i have a good record of payment of my other car at HLB, a Hyundai and the banker there told me the best he could give is 2.46% from 2.48%. Why you guys got alomost close to 2.4?  sad.gif  Is it because i told him i planned to do a 9 year loan, maybe around 20% dp?
Most banks that i checked with are offering 2.42% for 7 yrs. I got mine from Maybank and i know that Affin and Public also offering the same rates. Should not be any different for you guys.

Btw, why bother putting more downpayment? Car interest rates are lower than bank FD rates. Put down the minimum dp, take max loan (7 yrs) and invest the balance elsewhere.

Getting close to putting downpayment for her (K5)..
Guys, any bad comment about this car? Main concern is about after sales service.
You can read the various comments here and ull see the good and the not so good comments. Regarding after sales service, best u check with the Kia Forte thread and ask them. Most of them have had good service so far. Ive sent my car twice to Kia for service and allignment and both turned out well.

But as with all cars, u cant expect perfection. The more important question you need to ask yorself is are you convinced that this car is value for money? If the answer is yes (like what it is for most of us), then go ahead and place your booking in peace.

Many of us here have researched the car extensively before buying. As you know, I myself tested the Optima 9 times before purchasing. What we have in the Optima is a car that has a high standard of safety, comfortable, spacious, has the wow factor, filled to the brim with specs and is reasonably priced. As for durability, i guess nobody will be able to answer that question as the car is still new. But from the number of good reviews its getting overseas, i think the Optima has caught the attention of the world. Yes resale value may not be on par with other Jap models here in Malaysia but ask yourself what's important for you.

Cheers!

wanna ask all k5 owner, what tinting you guys using, did ya tint the moon roof as well?? getting my light graphite soon!!
First see if u really need the tint or not. The glass in the Optima is UV cut glass. Ive left the car in the heat and ive found it quite ok. Im not installing any tint as i plan to change the front windscreen every year or two (insurance).

yesterday try to push the car to the limit, able to reach 180km/h but not dare to push more hard since start smell like rubber burn smell from aircon, the smell is gone in few sec later on. need to go and check with the service center this week about that also.
This is the problem which i brought up before which i found in a number of test drive cars. But this is the first time im hearing bout the burnt rubber smell in the car cabin. Best to get it checked out.

Added on May 18, 2012, 9:47 amI changed the front fog lamp bulbs to 88W white/blue bulbs. Original bumbs were 50W. But i found that the front bulb cover (not the casing) melted. Took back to Kia and they agreed to replace both sets of fog lamps FOC. Seems that a previous customer also had the same 'melting' problem but with the original bulbs.

For your info, the cost of 1 fog lamp set is RM210 so both would cost approx RM 420 not inclusive labor and taxes. Not cheap.

Mine including sunroof, doesn't make sense if 144k car dont have tint  tongue.gif
For me sunroof is most important because all the time expose to sunshine.
Isnt the sunroof already heavily tinted? Why is the sunroof more important?

White requires constant maintenance and washing. Silver even if its dirty it isnt noticeable.

still hard to maintain ka if we sierra-glow the white-coloured car? plan to get mine in white too after finishin the Forte deal, but still prefer the dark blue one. NAZA should be more daring lorh, only 3 colours to choose from, that's just absurd to me. you want people to buy your car, give them at least several colours to choose lah  doh.gif
Sierra glow only preserves your paint and makes cleaning easier. It doesnt really prevent dirt from sticking. U'll still need to clean often. For white cars, ull probably need cleaning every few days. My silver is fine for about 2-3 weeks and i drive alot outstation.

Based on calculation our K5 have 70L max. So 70L X 13.2KM = 924KM??? Can K5 really run that mileage?
Correct me if i am wrong here.
U need to ask at what speed they tested that 13.2km/L. Maybe at 90kmph. But ive filled maximum fuel about 78L. So dunno whr that 70L came from.

whats the best setup for the Infiniti sound system? i feel the sound not so clear and sometimes i feel the door shakes due to the bass. maybe my setup is off...
If u dont want the boom effect from the rear woofer, then u gotta set the bass below 5. Even at 5 ull get the boom. But i still cant get surround sound. All sound seems to be from the front only.

Depends on your driving style la. My 750km was mixed driving with 400km on highway at 150kmph and the rest city.

Guys, any way to stabilise the steering? Right now the wobbly steering at high speeds really doesnt give much confidence. If its flat surface its fine but when ure going over bumps or rough road at 190kmph, it can be an unwelcome experience. Kia should have installed speed sensative electric steering instead of the current hydraulic steering. sad.gif

today just go to epoh KIA place. No test drive.

1st spot. KIA Menglembu SSC

SA lookdown on me. no discount no apa pun. free voucher 250 ringgit tinted. NO TEST DRIVE

2nd spot. Greentown Sales centre

SM come tok to me. nice person and good advice. Discount 2k, + tinted glass worth 650 ringgit + full tank. Car can get within 3 weeks.
NO TEST DRIVE

ai ~ mi no luck with K5 liao
I got mine from the Greentown outlet. And they can get their cars fast. If u wanna test drive, go see the Manager at Kia Jln Lahat. Ask for Joe. He will let you test drive. Then buy from Greentown as their discounts are much better.

Test drives are only given to serious buyers as most of the time they use cars due to be delivered to new owners. But the Greentown outlet does not allow such test drives which is a professional & correct approach.

QUOTE(bUGG @ Jun 9 2012, 07:01 PM)
If u count in the date I booked is 5 weeks. Nobody knows when this issue settle. There is one forummer which we have be communicating through PM, he personally contact the GM, and COO of NAZA, even them can't confirm when will this settle. So there is no date, could be weeks, months. Is been two weeks after i paid my downpayment. For me, I will definitely ask my SA to refund my downpayment.
Be patient. Waiting a few weeks or even months for the K5 is still well worth the wait. The Optima is truly a great car. Its not perfect but it stands head and shoulders above the other Jap models out there and goes head to head against the VW Passat. Keep the faith (and the patience) and u will not regret it for sure. Trust me.
