Guys, ive got something to share about the Optima auto transmission. I did a test yesterday. I made the following conclusions:

1) If you use the paddle shifters to manually change gears, the gearbox automatically up shifts when the RPM is high enough
2) If you use the gear itself (+,-), the auto upshifts are only for the Gear 1, 2 & 3 while it will hold at either 4,5 & 6 unless you upshift yourself
3) I found the acceleration in the first 3 gears is better using the gear shifting compared to the paddle shifters

i was quite impressed with the acceleration using the gear shifts as compared to the paddle shifters. I think it really harnesses the 163Hp and 198Nm of torque available (at its set RPM's).

Has anybody tried this before?

if u RPM reach a certain limit it will auto change gear for u~ this is KIA car setting~

Most of the modern auto transmission car had a safety mechanism on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear to automatically shift the gear for you to prevent you from over rev the engine, consequently damage your engine.

IMO, this doesn't apply to 4th, 5th and 6th because those are over drive gear ratio (gear ratio is less than 1).

Yes but only happens in the first 3 gears and only if u are using the gear shifters not the paddle shifters. If you use the paddles, the gear automatically changes for all 6 gears once you reach a certain RPM. Not many ppl know this im sure. So if you want a more spirited drive, use the gear shifters and not the paddle shifters. Ull see the difference.

But i dont know why the acceleration for the first 3 gears seems better when using the gear shifter as compared to the paddles.

Just do Sierra Glow. Many of us have done it at USJ. Its only RM700 for K5 owners and comes with 5 year warranty. Dont spend money on other coatings. Even if Sierra Glow only lasts 2 years, its still a good investment.

Today I came at 1030am with 3 other cars ahead of me. Mr Choong is very nice to drop me at Summit USJ to catch Batman and I just back to wait for another half an hour to finish.

Too bad he had no plan to open another shop so you got to come at USJ. Here the map http://sierraglow.com/contact/contact.html

Does anybody know the size for the number plate for K5?
I'm thinking of customizing a new set of number plates (with the holder) for the K5 for a friend as a birthday present.

Aiyah, no one can help me on this ah? Can someone please provide me the dimension of the original plate that came with the car .. that could help me at least. Thanks in advance.

Need help from all the k5 owners here, do you guys find that the front passenger seat is a little bit too low? Are we able to adjust the height of the front passenger seat?

My girlfriend keep complaining to me that she cannot see the view infront of the car.

Any suggestion on how to solve the problem?

Thank you

So you finally went with the Assy 2 eh? Much better tyre compared to Michelin PS3 i think. Hows the ride difference compared to the stock Nexen?

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 (235/45/18)

Noise, not much of different as is a sport tyre. Performance wise... superb, corner with confident, brake and stop faster, confident driving in the rain. Ride is very much comfortable, I can feel is very much softer. Assy 2 is also a little bit taller and very much wider, this also protects the rim from scratches. Outlook vise, superb looking... more fierce looking. Coming to TT right? Look at it you will know what I mean.

Guys I have used it, not much improvement maybe because of my lousy skill ha ha. tongue.gif
But really really difficult I must say, for small scratches I think scratch pen is better and easier.
