It can be done. I got my silver K5 in exactly 15 days. But that was end April. Not sure bout now.

Be patient. Waiting a few weeks or even months for the K5 is still well worth the wait. The Optima is truly a great car. Its not perfect but it stands head and shoulders above the other Jap models out there and goes head to head against the VW Passat. Keep the faith (and the patience) and u will not regret it for sure. Trust me.

Guys, what's the most u have ever filled your full tank? Mine was 78.95L which i got with my first full tank. Subsequently, ive been filling about 75-77L with my smallest fill of 70L.

And i still cant get my 'distance to empty' at more than 700km. Except for the first full tank, my range has always been below 700km. Dunno why.

How is the driving style got anything to do with the range of a full tank? Driving style affects fuel consumption. So for someone who is heavy footed, he may start with say 750km range after filling up a full tank. But the range will start dropping drastically if he is a heavy footer. Thats how the distance to empty works. Its never a fixed value and it will fluctuate depending on your driving style. When you driving style is very economical, it just takes longer for your range to drop.

But what im refering to here is the initial distance to empty just after filling up say 75L before the car even moves. Mine has always been below 700km despite my driving style. Only once i managed to get about 750km.

But i can usually travel about 600km before i fill up with about 3 bars of fuel left. My speed is usually around 170-180kmph on the highway.

Here's some info for all of you. I did some reading up on the net regarding my so called problem with the Distance to Empty reading (DTE). It was only in my 1st full tank that i managed to get about 750km DTE but in subsequent full tank fill-up's ive always got less than 700km.

Based on what ive read, the DTE is not calculated just on the amount of fuel in your tank. It also takes into account your average fuel consumption of your previous 300-500km. So if i was speading at 180kmph for the last 300km, then in my next full tank fill up, the car will take this FC into account to calculate the current DTE range.

Thats why i got a high DTE on my first full tank and not in the subsequent ones.
