Because of the SOC.
Windows Phone 7 platform run exclusively on Qualcomm's SOC while Samsung prefers own Exynox SOC for their high end Android devices.

Whatever it is I have to congratulate Samsung for keeping almost everything secret about SGS 3.Only iPhone & Nokia N9 (only proper picture leaked few hours before the announcement) managed to keep secret regarding device detail.

Don't rule out SuperAMOLED HD just because the pentile arrangement.It's still a excellent display.

IMHO the only 1 advantage of HTC One X over SGS 3 is the design.In term of hardware & software SGS 3 seems to be better.
