I'm pretty damn sure that the S3 will draw more developers than the HOX. That makes a huge difference because you might be running the latest firmware years later and yet your other rivals are stuck with the old roms. I'm running ICS on SGS now and it's really much smoother compared to Froyo/Gingerbread with much better interface.

I think Samsung decided to go with plastic so that the phone will be lighter. At the end of the day most players will be using protective cases anyway.
