I think you will switch thread soon to gaining weight thread ..hehe

btw , I used some website to calculate my daily calories intake and it is around 1930. Is it accurate ? I always try to maintain around 1600-1800 calories intake everyday ..will it be harmful to my body?

Currently not in Malaysia so can avoid most of Malaysian foods. Having white bread and potato most of the time as my carb . I read bout wholemeal bread is much better than white bread , but for me white bread taste better so I can enjoy my food. Any comments bout tis?

Guys, just want to know if milo is fattening? IM working night shift now, and get hungry all the time.

Thought of having milo once at night and once in the morning, and fruits in between.

2 spoons of milo, 1 spoon of milk powder and hot water.
*
try drink more plain water if u in diet. Sugar drink wont help much . Sugar give energy but choose better sugar in term of fresh fruits or fruit juice..not from those concentrated. Try grab those low calories bread and apply some fruit jam if you are hungry while working smile.gif

Wednesday - 10km
Friday - 7km

For Sunday - Wednesday, dinner only drink soya or chinese dessert + some fruit.

Thursday-Saturday eat normal.

I think the best way to reduce weight is to increase your heart beat = increase metabolism = burn more calories ..I read an article that mentioned keeping heart beating at fast rate for 15 minutes is enough to maintain and keep everything in shape , of course must eat healthy foods as well

try reduce sugar in ur soya and chinese dessert

what's the best diet and what's the proper exercise ?
*
dun waste ur calories intake in those junk foods ..one person need to maintain at least 80% of their calories intake in a day. Try to fill up those 80% with more good foods . Best diet depend on individual how they want to eat. Some people like oat some people dont like. If you search from internet most of the diet are hardly to get and expensive in Malaysia. Try to DIY urself according to what you found there.

Proper exercise like walking for 20 minutes or running for 15 minutes are enough for you a day to being healthy . Just take a look and focus on your diet and simple exercise , once your weight is down then proceed to gym and do some strength and cardio exercise.

I am not really targeting fat loss, just hope to cut down on weight..
*
get a better shape of body and cut fat is more important than cut down on weight. Some people can weight 90kg but look fit and firm while maintain low body fat % . If u plan to look skinny then different story la biggrin.gif

It's not as hard as it sounds. Sometimes doing too much can be counter productive. My rest days are when i burn bodyfat. Cardio can be a tool to create a larger caloric deficit but as a primary tool to rely on for fat loss... Nah. One cAnnot outtrain a bad diet.
*
Assuming to your theory is having a good diet for 5 days in a week and enjoy your foods on your work out day ? I dont understand the bold part .Do you mean resting and having a good diet on rest day contribute to loss in bodyfat? mind to explain ? thanks in advance mr darklight79 smile.gif

QUOTE(Sarah Angelina @ Aug 15 2012, 07:43 PM)
Bad diet can hardly happen to me as I will certainly watch what I eat, kind of understand the diet is very important. Anyhow, haven't be able to get the best diet yet, but at least still maintaining it at high protein, high fiber and low carbs
*
Just enjoy and try to love what you having , sometimes a bit calories from sauce is needed to make ur food taste better. Stress will only make ur body suffer and help you to store more fat.

Guys, I've gain weight from 60 to 65 in 6 months time... I know that sleep late will caused it.. Is there any alternative ways to lose weight?
*
mostly it come from ur diet problem. I think ur sleeping habit will only make you hungry at night and consume more unnecessary foods . It is okay to have foods at nite or midnite , as long it is low in calories and healthy . I like to eat most of the time just that I only have some white eggs with breads , almost 100++ calories for my snack instead of kit kat bar that almost cost the same . Correct me if I am wrong notworthy.gif

Hi guys just want to ask it is possible to lose 1 kilo a day although it may sound absurd but last time i did some diet n exercise by power walk 1 hour a day i lost 6 kilos in a week n 1 the following. However the first week i was on just porridge and the second week just fruits.I am wondering now i have increased my workout to about 2-3 hours a day would the results b better?
*
I think what they would told you is you lose out all water weight . A healthy losing weight plan is for you to lose up 1-2 kgs a week. You will lose out a lot of water and muscle in ur body . This is because muscle is easier to break down than fat so if you didn't eat much , your body will try to break down something from your storage (fat+muscle). In these case , protein is easier to break down.

QUOTE(Faith+1 @ Aug 16 2012, 04:16 PM)
EPOC or the afterburn effect which the increased of metabolism after your workout - the additional calories your body going to burn during your rest day.
*
oh okay ,mean after workout the metabolism will increase and cool down after 2-3 days rite?

example ;
during workout the bmr -2300
1st rest day -2100
2nd rest day -1900

3rd day - normal back

thanks for your reply nod.gif

bad in the sense of?
People say don't eat rice is not good for health, so should everyday consume rice for like a few bowls? Well, every individual is different. If your supper is fried rice, fried chicken, fried sotong, fried fish and what not every night then it's a different story. If you know your body require how many kcals daily, you'll not gain weight EVEN if you're eating Big Mac for supper every night. It's all about what you know about your body and your diet and what you should and shouldn't do. Don't just listen blindly and follow blindly. Same diet program might work for that person but might not work for you.
*
the only logical thinking is when body in rest mode , they didn't work as effective during daytime ( burning foods) so I think the body wont use that much energy during ur body rest time thus bmr during tat time is low . correct me if I am wrong. smile.gif

BMR doesn't change IMO. It comes from the amount of muscle mass, fat mass, etc2 in the body. The calorie maintenance @ TDEE is calculated based on daily activity + weekly exercises so the value will only changes according your activity. At night, our body is in resting mode where during our sleep, the body will start to enter the recovery mode. Providing the body with proper nutrition will enhance the recovery rate.
*
so there is no real BMR value in this world since everyone having diff body fat and muscle etc. Check bmr with few websites that I can conclude that BMR is close to to that number but not exactly the figure given. To think of that building muscle is more important to increase bmr rate thus losing weight is much easier.

Do you know any disadvantages about potatoes? some claimed it is as bad as other carbo foods such as rice but some said that if prepared in healthy way , potatoes bring a lot benefits. Do you think it is wise to include potatoes into the diet for someone trying to lose weight ?

QUOTE(mysql2779 @ Aug 22 2012, 10:35 PM)
Guys.. can you all give some suggestion on my exercise routine? I am not sure I am doing right or not...

Stretching - 5mins
Warm up - 10mins
Weight training - approximately 10mins
Sit-up - 5mins
Jogging - 30mins
Cool down - 5mins
Stretching - 5mins
Massage my muscles - 5mins

Am I right with these steps ? Should I do weight training before or after cardio in order to loss weight ? My main concern is to loss weight, building muscles is secondary aim.
*
losing weight just calories in < calories out. It is good to watch ur diet before doing any exercise.

I dont know anything about the Basal Metabolic Rate, I guess I've google it out?? Btw excessive exercise will contribute to losing of weight?
*
bmr I think is the 'number' that show how much ur body is burning energy even u sleeping for whole day. Average a guy can have the range from 1600-2200 ( you need to include ur other details as well to get that 'number').

A healthy diet plan is to create a plan that only reduce from 200-500 from your bmr.

do a lot of reading . If you understand your body well then everything will be easy. I would say you must measure up ur bmr first and then start from your diet.

ima guy tongue.gif i've been mislead to do calory deficit, that's why i am taking in 1600cal >< will definitely need to take in more, at least for some lean muscle

what are macros? measurement?

2) my running are 3 times per week, 2 on weekdays, 1 on sundays

i think i might want to hit the gym soon for weight trainings, hopefully improvement can be seen over time
*
I think I am having same problem with you now. 78kg and very hard to reduce it anymore. Calories deficit not working anymore. I been maintaining 1500kcal per day as well with calories deficit around 100-250kcal per days.Already one month and unfortunately the body fat on my stomach didnt go away and my weight still the same .

My diet

*breakfast - skip

*lunch - kfc chicken breast and most of the time I skip the skin part

or anything high in protein (chicken rice (normal big rice) with chicken breast part only

or economy rice - tauhu, curry chicken breast , vege )
#roughly 500-600kcal

*dinner - home cooking (protein - 60% rice/vege/carbo - 30% fat - 10%)
# roughly 300-400 kcal

*supper - nasi lemak ayam dada (nasi kecik) or ayam tandoori with naan
#roughly400-600kcal (not often eat supper)

most of the time my drink is plain water or green tea. Fruit is either apple , orange , pear , grapes ..only one kind per day to stock up my glucose.

Correct me if I am wrong . notworthy.gif

With all that rice in your diet, you think that your glucose is low? Sigh

Maximum is 2 bowl rice intake per day..according to ur theory calories in < calories out will still resulting in lose of weight..I only take one fruit per day..

rolleyes.gif No offense but unless you are 10 years old without the ability to find things out yourself (hey look! A computer with internet access!) - it is your own fault for simply listening to other people telling you what to do.

Macros is an abbreviation of Macro Nutrients. There are 3. In no particular order:
1)Protein
2)Fat
3)Carbohydrates

Now...EDUCATE YOURSELF:
http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.p...21703981&page=1

That will explain calories and macros. Figure out what works for you.
I was thinking that too doh.gif I look at his diet and it is just too... ARGH shakehead.gif Aihs.

QUOTE(shadowz @ Nov 28 2012, 12:51 PM)
Indeed, calories in<calories out will result in weight loss but how efficiently you lose the weight is another matter.

The statement of eating a piece of fruit to replenish your glucose level is quite frankly laughable and shows us that you do not understand what you said.

Keeping it short: Your diet sucks and your math sucks too.

You say your only drinking water and tea so all your calories come from food.

You skip breakfast and only SOMETIMES eat supper. That means you most often only eat 2 meals a day which amount to MAYBE 1000 calories.

How on earth can you say you maintain 1500 calories a day (which if you did is still too little assuming you are a man)?

There is not enough information for me to offer specific solid advice that hasn't already been given:
Figure out your calories needs
Create a REASONABLE deficit
Apparently you need to learn to COUNT calories properly
Weight train and SOME cardio (depends on your goals)
Rest enough

Your body should cooperate so long as you dont have a medical condition or previous eating disorders, etc.

Oh and your excuse about UK diet being better is bull. Their diet can be as shitty or as good as the individual chooses. You sit there and tell me deep fried fish & chips is healthier than tandoori chicken and naan... then I cannot say anything. doh.gif
*
In UK I tend to cook and get to choose the ingredient by myself. Back in Malaysia everything looks so good and nice to eat.

I know I shouldn't try out with diet that lower than my BMR but my weight is not going down for this past 2 months even though I already started this diet 2 months ago. Just that I am curious to prove that calories in < calories out = lose weight theory.

QUOTE
my diet in uk

breakfast - 2 tomatoes + lettuce + olive oil + white egg (without yolk) + organic sunfolwer seed

lunch - chicken breast hamburger + mineral water

dinner - small rice + home cooking chinese style (vege + chicken + egg)

I know my diet in UK is not the best but it gives me a better looking body than last time .

I thought sugar content in an orange is enough for a day usage . I am not working and most of the time I just sit in front pc. Having 1500 calories per day is not a problem as long I never starve myself. I will eat when I am hungry.
