Let say i go on a low calorie diet, zero carb and still jog+sprint (like HIIT) everyday for 30mins... Can i lose this tummy of mine? Would like to go for Brad Pitt Fight Club physique rather than body builder Arnold type.. Here is my details...

Body Mass Index: 21.7 kg/m2
Waist-to-Height ratio: 0.50
Percent Body Fat: 19.2%
Lean Body Mass: 108.3 lb

i got it from here: http://www.scientificpsychic.com/fitness/diet.html
*
Not only are you 99% likely to fail, if in the 1% event you succeed, you are not gonna look so much Brad Pitt as African famine victim.

LBM 108.3 lb, Brad Pitt had about 8% Body fat in Fight Club. That means your weight will be around 115lbs which is give or take 55kgs. You will look like a absolute stick.

Eat meat
Lift weights
Eat vegetables

Btw, your waist size is at 33in, this means you are not that fat anyways - there's no real need to cut

i would like to lose 5 kilos.

i've started doing sit-ups and light exercise daily at home. i also purchased this product called Kinohimitsu J'pan Kilos Cut . there're 30 sachets to be consumed on a daily basis.

i've done some review on this Kinohimitsu thingy and yet to read any negative side effects regarding it.

anyone has anything to share about Kinohimitsu products, and also any motivation tips to maintain my daily exercise?

thanks smile.gif

A word of caution though, I've been doing sit ups, push ups and morning walks/walking the dog and eating 'less' for months. never had any real tangible effect.

That's because the calories expended during such light exercise is actually very minimal.

If for example instead of weight training you began running marathons you would have seen similar progress in fat loss (although obviously less muscle gains).

A lot of people overestimate their exercise and underestimate their calories consumed (especially in Msia thanks to teh tarik, nescafe, milo, etc) which is reflected in our growing obesity rate.

Tried running 7km today cause i;ll be participating an upcoming run this Sunday  smile.gif
Of course, i wont do long distance running all the time. I'm pretty sure one long cardio wont burn my muscles... well i hope so  ohmy.gif

*
Don't be silly, of course it won't.

I just ran 21km at the last Stan Chart, and I did the full marathon at last years' Stan Chart. Didn't lose any muscle! smile.gif

Just eat something light before you run. Powerbar works good.

What's with the craze on low carbs? Just eat below maintenance, have a balanced diet, remove all junk and as much refined foodstuff as possible.
*
Don't agree.

With the right regimen (diet, exercise, rest, etc) a low-carb diet (either high Protein/med fat or vice versa) can cut body fat quickly while retaining good LBM.

Caloric deficit is a bit of a myth - 1 calorie of carbs doesn't affect your body in the same way as 1 cal of fat or protein. In fact the word "calorie" itself is misleading.

Whoa, thanks!
I'm looking through all, but because I'm a small eater, even though supposedly to have 1200 calories intake after minus 20% of deficit, but I could only manage to take in about 800 maximum  sweat.gif

I do eat a lot of apples as my in between snack, else would be only chicken breast with vege as salad, and milk (anlene!) and eggs, and fruits again  sweat.gif

Due to after going through some reading, found out that apple is kinda high in carbs and I would wish to maintain a low carbs diet, thus now eye-ing around and asking and reading and confusing  doh.gif  sweat.gif

800 calories a day?!?!??!? Are you kidding me!

There are starving peasants in India or China that manage to eat more than that!
Increase calories asap.

You are screwing up your body, metabolism and digestive system big-time. Low weight, low calorie doesn't always equals healthy.

If you are seriously eating 800 calories a day I will advise you to add a big mac to your diet every single day.

For beginners, there's no need for the obsession in my opinion. The eventual result will be the same, not much of a big difference in terms of duration. In obese people, what's more important is the removal of refined carbs and empty calories.
*
Not really.

Lets say your maintenance is 2500cals. And you target a deficit of 500cals = 2000 cals.

If 70-80% of it is carbs (and given our lousy Malaysian diet/food choices + marketing of wholegrain as "healthy", it is more than possible), then you would find it hard to retain LBM. Especially if you have poor exercise routines in place.

While dieting, the body can burn body fat, or LBM. The macro intake a person takes determines which it prefers.

I'd much rather burn 20% LBM 80% fat than even 50-50%.

whoa!!! So many? >"<
That was my maximum already, thus I always need a DBKL to help me clear food
1 set wantan mee also couldn't finish  sweat.gif
Yea, my appetite is real small, there are people say good la what la, but it's actually very suffering for me. I'm forcing myself to eat more nowadays, break into 6-7 meals a day, but still not enough, still need to take in more. I'm taking protein shakes daily, and also cod liver oil as supplements. Will try other supplement if can't improve by next month  sweat.gif

Appeton, weight gainer shakes to get the calories in.

You need to work on this ASAP or it WILL have long-term consequences on your health, and possibly affect any offspring you have.

Mind to enlighten me on:

a) Your current weight?
b) When you started having this apetite issue?

If you have always been eating 800calories I find it hard to believe you would even need to post in this thread.

I suspect this is the result of a very badly planned crash diet. You are on the verge of aneroxia nervosa with eating 800 cals a day.

I strongly urge you to seek medical help.

Yeah we're talking about the same things in essence. Just a different approach.

I go the easy way and say increase vegetables and legumes intake as much as possible, boiled eggs, and lean chicken meat.

When these are in place, the macronutrient distribution is usually in the right proportion, probably 60-20-20 or 60-30-10 or even 50-30-20 etc., with foods like legumes, vege, and milk making up the majority of the carbs.

On hindsight, while those are increased, naturally the person will need to cut down on other foodstuff due to available tummy space, in this case refined carbs and other nonsense.
*
Ok, I think we are actually agreeing.

I don't recommend a zero-carb or ultra-low carb diet to anyone - certainly not in malaysia anyways!

But a low(ered) carb intake is essential for weight loss.

Assuming you want to cut a 2,500 cal diet to a 2,000 one, the 500 cals reduced should come entirely from carbs. nod.gif

Carbs should ALWAYS be present pre- and/or post-workout.

I think the keto diet is not conducive to long-term health as well - even if you do manage to eat maintenance on it.

I don't think I'm having that disorder as I love to eat. I was from XL size shrink to XS, waist line 29 to 24 now. I'm currently 48. This appetite issue started this year.
*
How long did it take you to reduce 4" from your waist?

Being 48kgs can be considered underweight but of course it depends on your height.

Eating 600-800 cals a day is considered on the verge of aneroxia nervosa. I urge you to add carbs into your diet post workout.

And eat more!!
