QUOTE(Memories_Fallen @ Dec 27 2013, 10:12 AM) Why the heck don't you make an effort to calculate calories? Just because all those things on the list sound "healthy" doesn't mean you're going to lose fat. A calorie excess is still an excess no matter how good the food choices are. Tsk. |

QUOTE(syabilng @ Dec 27 2013, 04:22 PM) Whenever I read about the diet people are having to maintain a healthy amount of deficit, I see they eat heavy stuff for dinner. Is this really significant? Can I swap my meals between lunch and dinner? Because I always eat eggs and toast for breakfast, rice, chicken and vegetables for lunch and something filling for dinner like bread. And I exercise. My biggest meal is supper just before I sleep. |

QUOTE(raisedbywolves @ Mar 14 2014, 05:29 PM) That's great for you! Those who do not count calories are doomed to failure. One cannot escape the basic law of thermodynamics. Calories in vs out. My sis eats bacon daily, pork knuckle at Dave's once or twice a week, stays ripped with abs, lifts more than her bodyweight and she counts calories. I'm only against calorie counting because some sites are quite misleading. Like the example on my post, some sites group organic fruits to be of high calories (an orange can be 62 calories) and compare it to diet soda with 0 calories, and say that the soda would be better. Which is why I always prefer to not count calories, stick to eating only fresh, non-processed food. Lots of fruits and veggies, some carbs from potatoes (not white rice) and fats from avocados. Her blood results are optimal and it is my responsibility as her brother and a doctor to keep it that way. This post has been edited by darklight79: Mar 15 2014, 12:32 AM |

QUOTE(raisedbywolves @ Mar 17 2014, 03:23 PM) I have tried both actually – and both ways work. Just that I find counting way too tedious, so eating clean without counting is my preferred option. You have obviously not met individuals of insatiable appetite where me and my sis can consume more than 10, 000 calories of food in 1.5 days. My sister, close to 5-6000 in her case, whether healthy OR unhealthy foods. But calories in vs out, I find that a bit inaccurate. You can't eat 300 calories of cookies and cancel it out in the gym later on. Your body doesn't know math. Going to the gym helps but it doesn't just cancel out immediately. You are obviously not well versed in the hormones of leptin, thyroid, the biomechanics of up and downregulation of hormones, etc. ALL successful athletes in the industry, whether physique, bodybuilding, bikini, fitness, male and female, count calories. You sure your method works long term? Prove it, show me your progress. Show me your pics. My sister got from fat to fit/ripped/strong because she started counting calories. Do you want to see her progress pics? Even Lillian Tan (herself a competitor), fiancee of Terry Gallyot (Mr Asia) is impressed with my sister's progress and might want to feature her in future media projects. ![]() Your body cannot escape the laws of nature, it cannot escape the basic law of thermodynamics, period. You cannot lose weight on a caloric surplus, you cannot gain weight on a caloric deficit. Why many people seem to disagree with this, because they under report what they eat, OR in extreme cases, severe metabolic damage which is virtually near impossible unless they have been doing seriously goofy things. THAT is why the Minnesota experiment is still ongoing. And no, my sis and I are anti-Crossfit. We don't do cardio. But we enjoy burgers, nasi lemak, pork knuckles and bacon very often, with low bf%. With optimal blood results. Flexible dieting. Period. This post has been edited by darklight79: Mar 17 2014, 06:27 PM |

QUOTE(raisedbywolves @ Mar 17 2014, 06:27 PM) Whoaaa, okay. But hey whatever works for you and your sister, you guys seem to have got a good thing going! I'm not technical, into-depth with what I eat or don't eat, I am not a hard body who's ripped either. I don't run all the time, and I lift only 3 times a week and I do some yoga and meditation. Just doing things that have worked for me, as a lifestyle blogger and designer with a very regular appetite (still love pizza, nasi lemak and burgers). I love the Crossfit Games though. But I would still love to see your progress pics. Do you have any? Btw, it doesn't just work for me and my sister. It works for amateurs, professionals, competitors, non competitors, patients who're recovering from surgery, patients who're building up for a surgery to reduce mortality rate, etc. This post has been edited by darklight79: Mar 17 2014, 06:31 PM |

QUOTE(raisedbywolves @ Mar 17 2014, 06:51 PM) Well, this here is the one I've got. I used to be even bigger than the first photo, but the second pic is what I'm maintaining. From huge to ordinary-size, like I said. Not ripped or anything, just normal. Not bad. You can do better if you COUNT calories. My sister. Right deltoid. Relaxed. After a day of waffles, candy bars and chocolates. [attachmentid=3893877] ![]() |

QUOTE(Keishi89 @ Mar 18 2014, 09:28 AM) Hey Guys, I have a question to ask as I am a little curious about sweating. After a month of cardio, I have noticed better stamina and I generally feel much lighter and healthier. Sweat means nothing. I can stand in the hot sun and do nothing and will sweat. Activity is the deciding factor. Keep at it.Ok to the point, I went to Templer's park last Sunday and went hiking to the waterfalls with a couple of friends. We hiked all they way to the top which was the 7th level, kinda steep but it was certainly a good work out. Now after that, apart from sore muscles I noticed I tend to sweat so much more and so easily just from minimal movement. I had dance classes yesterday and just through the warm up, my head was kinda drenched. Just wondering why is this happening? Is it due to a higher metabolism after a vigorous workout?
