My friend has been sufferring epilepsy for several years and doctor provided her Epilim to consume. However, seemed like the Epilim is not able to fully control the epilepsy and she still suffers 3-4 days of minor seizures every month.

Is there anyone out there has the same health issue or friends are relatives who have the same problem?

Is there any cure instead of just taking Epilim to suppress the seizures?

What do you mean by never come back? That means epilepsy never happens again?

My cousin suffers from epilepsy and on top of that he has cerebral palsy too. His is however, controlled with medication and it seems to be under control. Maybe you can seek a second opinion from a specialist because there is no way to cure this neurological disorder, and you can only control the recurring seizures.

The ancient Chinese classical herbal formula 小 柴 胡 汤 片,
or Xiao Chai Hu Tang Pian. Its antiepileptic action is largely due
to bupleurum.

My friend having epilepsy too and doctor said it cant cure once it happened once. The only way is get medicine to control it. He tried many kind of medicines as some gave side effects or allergy.

Ask your friend stay happy and relax her mind, maybe yoga can helps.
It is very important, your mind relax, and less work to your brain and then less neuron to be produced.

As longer to keep the seizures not happened, the faster she can get away from this disease.

Sorry for reviving a 4-year old thread, but I was js wondering if anyone knows if we can get Epilim without prescription? Mine is finishing and I don't really feel like paying a RM550 consultation fee for the neurologist to knock his tiny hammer on my knees.

Just go to pharmacy and ask for generic sodium valproate. Epilim is sodium valproate.

Also look into ketogenic diet. Ketogenic diet main goal was treating epilepsy without drugs and it works. However, there have been addition bonus benefits of ketogenic diet.

If you want to go on ketogenic diet, the main question is are you ready to give up rice, nasi lemak, cakes, ice-cream, pizza, mee, sugar?

That's the only known and proven treatment method for epilepsy without drugs. I am not exactly sure whether it will come back once you stop it.

Btw, with TPPA, it might be hard to get generic drugs sad.gif

If you don't want to pay rm600 for the doctor to hammer your leg, go klinik kesihatan, ask for referral to government hospital to see a neurologist. You will get sodium valproate at a cheaper price then pharmacy.

Just Google + being cheapskate.blush.gif I don't believe in paying extra 100-1000% the price of the drugs when generic works just as well. The reason you are paying an inflated price for branded drugs is because the drug company want to get back their R & D and marketing cost. mad.gif vmad.gif

I came across ketogenic diet by accident. Went and read up about it and found the history of it.

Meta-analysis of EEG biofeedback in treating epilepsy.
Based on this meta-analysis, EEG operant conditioning was found to produce a significant reduction on seizure frequency. This finding is especially noteworthy given the patient group, individuals who had been unable to control their seizures with medical treatment.
Studies reported an overall mean decreased seizure incidence following treatment and 64 out of 87 patients (74%) reported fewer weekly seizures in response to EEG biofeedback. Researchers concluded that neurofeedback is an effective treatment for epilepsy and it is completely safe, non invasive, painless and no side effect!

I myself take Epilim 500mg. There are quite a bunch of pharmacies carrying this medicine in near my house. Prices are different though, so I get from the cheapest.

Since not many buy this, price can be a bit expensive. But if you buy in bulk or be a regular customer, I'm sure the pharmacist can get a good deal for you. I currently buy mine at about rm53/bottle. Used to get it for rm50/bottle before this bloody GST implementation.
